DMACK'S NHL GAME OF THE MONTH is on the Columbus Blue Jackets The Vancouver Canucks are watching their season circle the drain. They're 3-6-1 on the road and 2-7-1 in their L10. They one point ahead of the last place expansion Kraken in a weak Pacific Division and Seattle has a game in hand. The Jackets are one of the surprise teams in the NHL and will only get better. Two years ago they blew it all up and have drafted very well and made some excellent free agent pick ups to hold it together. They're 7-3 on home ice and they have two excellent young goaltenders that keep them in games every night. Tons better team on home ice, a great line that should be at least 30-40 cents higher, and better goaltending. This one checks all the boxes and is our NHL Game of the Month.

DMACK FRIDAY NHL PLAY OF THE DAY is on the Carolina Hurricanes The Canes came up one game short of the NHL record for most wins to start a season when they were given a reality check by the Florida Panthers but the Cans bounced right back with a hard fought 2-1 OT win at Tampa Bay to right the ships. The are home here facing a decent Flyer team but a Philly team that struggles on enemy ice. The Flyers have alternated losses and wins the last five game and two of the three road loss were shut outs which won't work against a team that has only allowed 21 goals in 11 games as it is. Lay it with Carolina.

DMACK'S NHL PLAY OF THE DAY (6-1, 29-12 Runs) Two Pacific Division team headed in very different directions. VGK has so many injuries, you'l basically be seeing the Henderson Silver Knights plus a couple of the original Golden Misfits. Edmonton is a destroyer! 4-0 with a 19-10 goal differential. McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent-Hopkins are all looking at multi-point games and there is little Vegas can do about it. Absolutely floored when I saw this opening line. Wouldn't be shocked to see the Oilers favored at game time. Why wouldn't they be.

Vancouver has battled injuries of late but just picked up scoring forward Tyler Toffoli (18 G, 16 A) from the Kings in an effort to bolster their scoring. The Canucks have one of the strongest home ice advantages in the NHL with just 7 losses in regulation. Minnesota has struggled to a 10-17 (10-15-2) slate on enemy ice and will have the worst of it between the pipes tonight. Impossible to pass Vancouver at just 23 cents.

DMack's NHL Play of the Day is on the Vancouver Canucks Don't look now but the Canucuks lead the five-team log jam that is the NHL Pacific. Vancouver is solid fundamentally in all aspects but has especially stood out on home ice where the Canucks are rocking a 17-5-4 home ice badge. Calgary has been average after a fast start and at the end of the day are basically a .500 middle of the pack type of club. Vancouver is home off a long convoluted roadie against some pretty good teams and gets the money here.

Mack Attack NHL Play of the Day is on the Washington Caps Thought I smelled a rat looking at this line. Not the best of spots for the Caps who beat the Devils 6-3 in New Jersey last night. Multiple Caps on the injury report as well but just minor dings and as of this writing, nobody has been "declared" out. The Caps have won both meetings this year, the last just one week ago tonight when the Caps spanked the Bolts 5-2 on their home ice. Been waiting for Tampa Bay to get it together but that just hasn't happened. Old hockey adage is that you are what you are by Thanksgiving. Might be time to accept that the Lightning's window has closed and that this is a .500 tea across the board. In the mean time take Washington to extend their series run to four straight games.

The Ovechkins have won four straight and are 12-2-1 on the road in 15 games this year, 7-2-1 L10. The Kings are a different team at home (9-5-1) as opposed to the road (2-10-1) but lack the fire power (have scored 37 less goals than the Caps) to trade with Washington. The price is fair and the Kings would need a monumental effort from Jamie Quick to even compete here.

They've had an improbable breakout season with great defense, excellent goaltending, and timely scoring. A long run coming out of the All-Star break was too little, to late for the Hawks who are playing out the string.
