The Angle(s): This looks like a good spot to back the Dallas Stars to bounce back from a 6-1 loss in the series-opener. They had won five on the bounce coming into the playoffs and can obviously not afford to head to Minnesota in a 2-0 hole. I expect Stars coach Glen Gulutzan to have his team ready.

The Angle(s): The Calgary Flames have dominated this series in recent seasons, but the Los Angeles Kings secured a 2-0 victory when hosting the Flames less than a month ago. The Kings urgently need points to secure playoff positioning, and following three consecutive losses, we can expect urgency from the Kings, while the Flames may face complacency after three wins

The Angle(s): The Boston Bruins are only 5-11 on the road off a win (+11% ROI fade) and the Devils 12-5 with a +8% ROI at home off a win.

The Angle(s): I'll gladly fade the slumping Toronto Maple Leafs who have lost eight straight against an Mighty Ducks team playing its best hockey of the season. Fresh off an upset win at Winnipeg, I like Anaheim to end e a five-game losing streak in the series.

The Angle(s): The Buffalo Sabres are coming into this game off eight consecutive wins and they have a positive ROI against the puckline as home favorites of -150 or more. At this price, I gladly back the favorite against the puckline.

The Angle: I like the price we get on the Montreal Canadiens as they look to bounce back from an OT loss at Minnesota. On the season, backing them off a loss has generated an ROI of +20%, while the Winnipeg Jets, also coming off a loss, have a -31% ROI in this spot (+22% fade!).

The Angle: The Columbus Blue Jackets are coming into this game red hot and looking to stretch their season-best winning streak to six games and  8-1-0 since Rick Bowness replaced Dean Evason as head coach. It's however worth noting that they were the favorite in all but one of those games and I think they're in for a tough one in Newark tonight.

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to back the Toronto Maple Leafs who are desperate to go on a run after ending a six-game losing streak with an overtime win in Vancouver on Saturday. They've won each of the last seven meetings with the Calgary Flames who snapped a pronounced losing streak of their own last time out, but note that they've lost 11 of 8 as underdogs and coming off a win. 

The Bet: MAPLE LEAFS (4%). 

Blue Jackets/Blues NHL BE$T PLAY of the Day

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to fade the Columbus Blue Jackets who will play on no rest coming off a win in Chicago last night. The St. Louis Blues snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Panthers on Thursday, and although they've had a very disappointing season, with their GM Doug Armstrong recently coming out proclaiming how he's 'embarrassed' with his team's position in standings, I think we'll see more from this team in coming weeks.

The Angle: The Colorado Avalanche have won 15 of 23 as road favorites and the Ottawa Senators are in a potential letdown spot following a 7-1 beat down of the Vegas Golden Knights. They've lost nine of 11 coming off a game in which they scored five goals or more, and I like the price we get fading them here.

The Angle: San Jose has been the most profitable team in the NHL, and I think the Sharks are completely mispriced in this matchup with a Vancouver Canucks team that is just 17-30-5 on the season and 1-11-2 in its past 14.

The Angle: The St. Louis Blues are 12-9-6 on home ice and they come into this game with little to no momentum after four consecutive losses.

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to fade the Buffalo Sabres after three consecutive wins while at the same time backing the Toronto Maple Leafs to and a four-game losing streak. The Leafs have won six of the last seven meetings in this series and I think the home team is completely mispriced in this game.

Bruins/Rangers NHL BE$T PLAY of the Day

The Angle: These two teams are trending in completely opposite direction with the Boston Bruins 8-1 in their last nine games and teh New York Rangers 1-8 in their last nine. Granted, the Bruins are 1-1 on the road during that stretch but with the Rangers just 5-13-4 home at Madison Square Garden on the season I like the price we get on the Bruins to pick up another road win.

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to fade the Ottawa Senators with a locker room, which if rumors are true, is reeling. The Vegas Golden Knights are 8-2 in their last 10 games and have had a day of rest since a 6-3 win at Toronto while the Sens are on the second leg of a back-to-back set.

Sabres/Islanders NHL BE$T PLAY of the Day

The Angle: The New York Islanders have just five wins in 11 games as home favorites but 14 wins in 24 home games overall. I like the price we get on them here against a Buffalo Sabres team in a tough spot, making the fourth stop on a five-game trip and coming off back-to-back underdog wins.

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to fade the New York Rangers who have just two wins in their last 10 games and are in a tough spot as they close out a four-game road trip. The San Jose Sharks have alternated wins and losses over their last six games and following a 4-1 loss at Tampa Bay I think they'll bounce back again.

The Angle: This looks like a great spot to fade the Vancouver Canucks after snapping an 11-game losing streak with a come-from-behind, 4-3 victory over the Capitals. On the season, the Canucks are 5-11 (31%) off a win and the New Jersey Devils are coming in with momentum and four wins in five games.

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to back the Washington Capitals to end a four-game losing streak, their second of the season. Last time after four losses, they bounced back with a 6-1 win over the Blues and I expect them to come out looking to make a statement again.

The Angle: The Dallas Stars are a respectable 15-6-6 on the road while the Columbus Blue Jackets have a losing home record, and they're winless(!) in eight games as home underdogs.

The Angle: I think we're getting a more than fair price on the Pittsburgh Penguins to exact revenge for a 2-1 home loss to the Calgary Flames 10 days ago. They're 1-2-1 in five games since, with the regular time loss a one-goal affair at Boston. With Pittsburgh 6-2 as favorites against teams it lost the last meeting to, I think the spot and the price is right.

The Angle: The Nashville Predators had won three on the bounce before a 7-2 loss in Vegas on Saturday. They come into this game well-rested while the Buffalo Sabres will play on no rest following a 2-1 loss at Carolina last night.

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to back the New York Islanders to bounce back from a 4-2 loss at Calgary. They must like their odds of beating a Vancouver team on a 10-game skid and just 4-14-3 on home ice this season.

The Angle: This is a tough back-to-back spot for the Philadelphia Flyers after a 5-2 loss at Buffalo last night, where poor discipline led to two power-play goals for their opponent on six penalties. That weakness could haunt them against a Penguins team that converted three of four power-play chances in a 5-1 win over Philly on December 1.

The Bet: PENGUINS (4%). 

Vegas/Kings NHL TOP PLAY of the Day

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to back the Vegas Golden Knights as they try to extend their winning streak to a season-best five game. They've found their scoring touch, which can't be said about the Los Angeles Kings who have been held to one goal twice over their last three games. These two teams have not met since Oct. 8, a 6-5 shootout win by Los Angeles in Las Vegas, and I I expect the Vegas to get its revenge.

The Angle: Both teams are reeling with a combined five wins between them over their last 10 games, but the Ottawa Senators have at least some kind of momentum following a 2-1 win over Vancouver last night. Sure, playing the second leg of a back-to-back is not ideal, but that's also why they're not a bigger favorite.

The Angle: This looks like a good spot to fade the Nashville Predators after their upset win over Washington on Sunday as they're 7-13 (35%) after a win.

The Angle: The Boston Bruins are coming off three consecutive home wins that bumped their home record on the season to 15-8-1. Here they'll be looking to avenge a 5-4 loss in Detroit a month ago, and considering the Red Wings' four-game winning streak (three wins as underdogs) I suspect a flat spot is in the cards for Detroit.

The Angle: The Pittsburgh Penguins have a losing home record, but the Edmonton Oilers are just 7-9-3 on the road, including only five wins in 13 tries as road favorites. The Pens are off five straight losses but played well enough to win most, with four going past regulation. The market is overreacting to the recency bias of those defeats, creating great value on the home dog.

The Angle: The Winnipeg Jets have found goals hard to come by lately resulting in three of their last four games staying under the total. Their defense has leaked though, and with the Buffalo Sabres coming off a 5-2 loss at Philly, I like both teams' offense to get going tonight.

The Trend(s): The New York Islanders are 11-4 against the puckline as underdogs and they should be fired up tonight, coming off an upset win over Tampa Bay and looking to build further momentum when closing out a seven-game home-stand.

The Angle: The Columbus Blue Jackets have seen seven of their last 10 games go past regulation. Goal-scoring has been an issue all season, and with Tristan Jarry back between the pipes for the Pens after missing seven games with a lower-body injury, I think this will be a tight, low-scoring game.

The Trends: Both teams have trended toward the over all season, with the Flames 8-5-3 to the over and the Wild 9-6-1 to the over. I expect the Flames offense to bounce back coming off a shutout loss and the Wild should as usual be good for 3-4 goals.

The Angle: The Columbus Blue Jackets have to be feeling confident on the road after going 3-1 in their first four away games. Plus, with both teams coming off just two days’ rest, Buffalo’s home-ice advantage is significantly reduced. This sets the stage for a tight battle where Columbus could easily brighten their road record.

5% NHL East Game of the Month SUPER MAX BET

The Angle: The Washington Capitals are off to a hot start and six wins in their last seven games. With the Caps playing on no rest after a win at Columbus last night, the betting market is overreacting to the no rest factor IMO. The Caps have the stingiest defense in the NHL while the Sens have one of the very worst defensive records, and they're killing off just 62% of their penalties while the Caps have an above average power play unit.

I think the home team is undervalued and ready to break out of its funk.

The Angle: I think we'll see a tight affair between two teams undefeated in regulation. Carolina, in the fourth game of a season-long six-game western road trip will most likely try to slow things down and although Vegas has been lighting up the lamp lately with 16 goals in three games, that was against inferior opponents.

The Angle: I like the price we get on the Winnipeg Jets to bounce back from a 5-4 loss to Dallas to get in the win column. The Kings have looked vulnerable on the defensive end in splitting their first two games of the season, and an upset shootout victory at Vegas last time out and third game in five nights could set up a potential flat spot for the visitors. To add fuel to the fire for the Jets; they lost all three meetings with the Kings last season, but the new season marks a fresh start.

The Angle: I like the price we get on the Anaheim Ducks in their first game with Joel Quenneville behind the bench. He brings experience of establishing a winning culture, and a lot of personal motivation coming back from a suspension after being banned by the league for his role in the 2010 Blackhawks' sexual abuse scandal.

The Trend(s): The over is 4-0 on the Avs' last four season openers and the Kings' defense has looked shaky and unreliable throughout the preseason. Additionally, the over/under is 6-3-1 in the last 10 head-to-head matchups.

The Dallas Stars have one more chance to close out the series before a potential Game 7 at Winnipeg. The Jets meanwhile have three shutout wins on the season, and lost the next game every single time.

This looks like a good spot to back the New York Islanders, who are making a late push for the playoffs and had won three straight before a tough 4-3 OT loss to Calgary.

The struggling Blue Jackets have picked up just three points over their last nine games (1-7-1), and they'll run into an Isles team that's 7-4 as home favorites off a loss.

Also, while Buffalo is sitting dead last in the conference, the Bruins still have hopes of making the playoffs, albeit slim.

The Edmonton Oilers won in OT over the Islanders here in New York on Friday while the New York Rangers will play on no rest off a 4-0 win in Coiumbus last night. The Colorado Avalanche are a sizable favorite over the San Jose Shars, and for a good reason. The Sharks are in a tough spot as they close out a seven-game road trip, and they're coming off back-to-back wins over Toronto and Buffalo which sets up a potential letdown spot. The Avs have dominated the Sharks in recent seasons, and have alfredy defeated them twice this campaign; 4-1 in October and 4-2 in December. I expect another multi-goal Avs win.

This looks like a tough spot for the New Jersey Devils who will play their third game in four nights and fifth in a row on the road. They'll face a Dallas team that is an impressive 39-19-2 on the season and 5-1 in its last six games. The Stars won 4-2 at New Jersey on Feb 22 and I expect them to get the job done at home as well.

This looks like a tough spot for the Nashville Predators who will play their third game in four nights and third in a row on the road. The Boston Bruins have won just one of their last seven but they've played a tough schedule, and I expect them to handle an exhausted Nashville team.

The Blue Jackets won 3-2 at Utah last week, and they are making a strong push for a playoff spot. They currently sit just one point out of the final Wild Card in the East. Utah on the other hand is far less likely to make the playoffs, sitting six points back in the West. The Jackets have been playing better hockey, and should be favored here at home.

The Washington Capitals have won eight of the last 10 in this series, but this will be the first meeting of the season with the Western Conference-best Winnipeg Jets, who have won five in a row and eight of their last 10 games.

The Caps have also been playing well, with seven wins in 10 games and at least one point in 14 of their last 15 games, but it feels like the price is right to back the visitors.

'Both teams are struggling with just one win in their last five games, but the LA Kings are in a deeper slump with only two wins in their last nine. This marks their fourth straight road game and ninth in their last 11, while the Lightning have had a chance to regroup at home following a shocking 4-1 loss to Chicago as heavy -335 favorites. Expect a motivated Tampa Bay side to take advantage of the Kings' fatigue.
