Yes, Oklahoma City is great defensively, No. 5 in the NBA during the regular season in field goal shooting defense for first-year coach Billy Donovan, No. 8 at defending beyond the arc. The Thunder are on a 5-1 ATS run on the road and 0-2 ATS when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game. San Antonio will focus on defense first, on a 2-5 spread run at home, plus 3-10 ATS after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game. And the Thunder are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings, so grab the dog in a close one. Play Oklahoma City.

The players scored nine points in the fourth quarter, a record low for the franchise in a playoff game. Each club has held their home court advantage, with Atlanta taking the first two at home and Boston taking game three at the TD Garden, 111-103. Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas had a career-high 42 points in game three. This game has been very physical and looks to be that again here in game four. Game three saw two technical fouls and three flagrant fouls. The Celtics best move though was inserting Jonas Jerbko into the starting lineup. Jerebko had 11 points and 12 rebounds, but more importantly, was instrumental in helping Thomas to get open shots. The Hawks road woes continue, having now gone 0-5 ATS in their last five away games. This series has been a home team's game as the host has gone 6-2 ATS the last eight meetings. I like Boston to even the series here today. Take the Celtics.

4/23 07:35 PM NBA (551) LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS VS (552) PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS Take: (552) PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS Reason: Portland is in a must win position here as they return home to the Moda Center for game three. The Blazers are down 0-2 to the Clippers, losing the first two games by a combined 41 points. The good news is, the Blazers were 28-13 at the Moda Center this season. Furthermore, really there were no expectations of any real success this year by the Blazers, who are in a rebuilding season. The pressure really is off the club and on a team that is expected to win, like the Clippers. For the Blazers to be successful tonight, they need to push the ball out on the breaks. That is what has worked for them thus far, though just not enough of it. Portland will play tough tonight and if they are going to win a game, this is the one. The Blazers are 10-4 ATS playing on two days rest, plus 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up loss of more than 10 points. Play Portland. Take the Blazers.

The Hornets are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Conference Quarterfinals games. Miami's clear advantage entering the series was experience, and Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng and Joe Johnson all have plenty of experience in the postseason. NBA 1st Round TV Game of the Year
Reason: The Boston Celtics came up a bit short in game one of this series, losing to Atlanta 102-101. The Celtics are a very young team and tough to play against. The Celtics have relied on a very good defense this season, but lately it's been a bit on and off. They need to get their defense back online. Against the Hawks, they will need a very good perimeter defense if they hope to win. What I like most about the Celtics is how unselfish they are. With Avery Bradley likely is out with a hamstring issue. However, with the way this club relies on all their players, Marcus Smart is ready to move in the role vacated by Bradley. If the Celtics defense returns to it's old ways, I believe they have a good shot to win this one outright. Take the Celtics plus the points.

The Mavericks should be good and rested for tonight's contest, considering they didn't even show up for game 1. Before the fans seats were even warm the Mavs were down by fifteen points in the 1st quarter. Dallas scored just 33 points the first half and trailed OKC by 26 points. The second half wasn't much better for Dallas, as the Thunder rolled to a easy win in game one, 108-70. The Mavericks lack of offense and season long injury list that looked like a MASH unit, came to light in game 1. The Mavs know they can't get into a scoring match with the Thunder. HC Rick Carlisle has changed this club recently to a slow pace team that is focused on defense. The Mavs are still a good road covering club, going 8-3 ATS away their last 11 games. The Mavericks have also had good success in OKC, going 12-5 ATS their last 17 trips there. The Mavs got that poor play out of their system in game one. I look for them to bounce back here and at least be competitive. Play the Mavericks.

Both these clubs still have something on the line, mainly just playoff position. The Heat currently are in 4th place, 1/2 game back of Atlanta and one game ahead of both Boston and Charlotte. That means the Heat can finish anywhere from third to sixth. A final regular season game at Boston could be the difference between home court and playing on the road in the 1st round. The Heat also could win the Southeast division, as they trail Atlanta by 1/2 game. The Pistons have locked up that final spot, but can move up one spot and avoid a first round meeting with the Cavaliers. Detroit is tied with the Pacers. Detroit finishes at Cleveland and the Cavs will have nothing to play for, though Cleveland could decide which club they would rather meet in round one. The Houston Rockets have an outside shot to make the playoffs. With just two games left for the club, they sit one game back of Utah for the last playoff spot in the West. Houston showed they still have the drive, beating the Lakers on Sunday, 130-110. Now they hit the road for a game today at Minnesota and then return home to face the Kings. The Rockets have a realistic chance of winning the last two games. Utah also played on Sunday and while they struggled at times with the Nuggets, they easily pulled away, 100-84. That leaves tonight's contest at home against Dallas and then at the Clippers. Dallas still has something to play for while the Clippers do not. The Grizzlies caused 20 Chicago turnovers, leading to 38 Memphis points. Tony Allen, who guarded Jimmy Butler much of the night, had four of Memphis' 13 steals in the game. The Grizzlies are 18-6 ATS after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game. They face a Dallas team that has slowed the pace down to play tough defense, off an 88-86 win over Houston. This will be a similar close, defensive game, and the Mavericks are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games. Play Memphis.

4/07 07:35 PM NBA (709) SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS (710) GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. Take: (710) GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. Reason: The Golden State Warriors are home and in a bounce back spot after an embarrassing collapse against Minnesota. Rival San Antonio is in town with very little chance of overtaking Golden State for the No. 1 seed in the West. San Antonio scratched its way past Utah 88-86 to earn a fourth straight win on Tuesday and may have all of its starters available on Thursday, but Greeg Popovich limits his starters and veteran players. The Spurs are 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up win. The assumption has been that San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich would rest starters in the two remaining games against the Warriors, but point guard Tony Parker refuted that notion in a postgame TV interview on Tuesday. "I think we'll play," Parker said in the interview. He didn't say, "We will all play," because Popovich makes the final call and it's hard to see him asking his players to go all out and risk injury in a game that isn't that meaningful for them. Popovich also doesn't want to show how he plans to defend Steph Curry in the playoffs, either. The teams have split two meetings this season, with Golden State blasting San Antonio 120-90 at home on Jan. 25 and the Warriors are 20-9 ATS in their last 29 games following a ATS loss. Play the Golden State Warriors.

4/07 08:05 PM EST NBA (703) TORONTO RAPTORS VS (704) ATLANTA HAWKS Take: (703) NBA Steam Play: Toronto. The Toronto Raptors are a dog but the No. 2 seed in the East. They handled the Charlotte Hornets 96-90, the last game, with another great defensive performance. By beating the historically pesky Hornets, Toronto has now won the season series with each of the other seven Eastern Conference teams currently in playoff spots, another first. The Raptors also opened a difficult week of playoff preparation with a performance that was at times dominant, holding Charlotte to less than 35 per cent shooting. The Raptors are 7-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning straight up record. They match up well with an Atlanta squad that is on a 0-4 ATS run, including 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Raptors are 4-0 against the Hawks, including 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings in Atlanta. Play Toronto.

The Portland Trailblazers have a lot to play for these last five games. The Blazers currently sit in 6th place, 1/2 game out of fifth, but only 1 1/2 games ahead of 8th place Utah and Dallas. And, Houston is lurking just 2 1/2 back in 9th. That makes these games against non-playoff clubs even more important. After tonight, the Blazers finish at home against Oklahoma City, Minnesota and Denver. Sacramento has been very good to bettors of late, covering six straight and eight of the last 10. Portland will finish up their series withe the Kings looking to sweep them in all four games. Portland is also 2-1 AtS in the previous three games this season. Reason: NBA Game of the Week: San Antonio will have to settle for 2nd place in the Western Conference, as they currently sit 4 1/2 games back of the Warriors. That's the bad news, the good news is that with nothing left to play for in these final games they can give some quality rest to players. Can't say the same for the Jazz. Utah is in a playoff fight for anywhere from the 5th place to out of the playoffs. The Jazz trail fifth place Memphis by just 1 1/2 games. However, they are just one game ahead of 9th place Houston. Ever game matters now for the Jazz and with the Spurs really playing not to get any injuries, I'll take the Jazz here. Play Utah.

Atlanta has a playoff spot locked-up, it's just which one? The Hawks currently are tied for third with the Celtics, but they just 1/2 game separates them from three other teams (Boston, Miami, Charlotte). The difference here isn't playing Cleveland or Toronto in the first round, it's hosting your first round series. The Hawks have lost two straight, but that will change tonight as Phoenix has little chance of outright winning this contest. The Suns have covered just six of their last 26 road games. The Hawks are 13-6 ATS their last 19 overall and are 7-2 ATS the last nine when their opponent allows 100 points or more. The home team has covered five of the last seven in this series and I look for the Hawks to win this one going away.

North Carolina is the only number one seed that has made it to the Championship game this season. They play the second seeded Villanova Wildcats. North Carolina has won 10 straight games, the last five by double digits. North Carolina had the top ranked offense in the ACC and the seventh ranked defense. Obviously at this juncture you can make a case for either side by the numbers. My own power ratings have Villanova a slight favorite in this one. I'm going to take the points here with Villanova. The Golden State Warriors nine games left and a 4 1/2 game lead for the best record in the NBA over the Spurs. Baring a catastrophe, the Warriors should be on cruise control into the playoffs. Which is what we have seen lately from the Warriors. While they are still winning, they are not covering. The Warriors are just 1-5 ATS their last six games. Normally, we would see them totally bury a team like Philadelphia at home when leading by double digits at half time. But in Sunday's contest, they did little to build that lead, instead opting to rest their star players. Washington does have a chance to still make the playoffs, but every win counts now. The Wizards are 2 1/2 back of 8th place Detroit for that final spot. So expect an all out effort here tonight. While the Wizards might not win, they should cover as the double digit dog.

Bailout Blaster: Reason: The Dallas Mavericks have struggled of late. The good news is that they are just 2 1/2 games back of 6th place Portland. But the team has to do better than the 2-9 slump they are in the last 11 games. With a line close to pick here tonight, they need to win outright to get the money. Denver returns home after playing six of the last seven on the road. The Nuggets have won two straight, but that was against the Lakers and Sixers, so nothing to get excited about. Dallas has covered two of the three matchups with Denver this year and narrowly lost the one game in Colorado, 116-114. The Nuggets are a scrappy bunch, but with no real name players they have to win by committee. I'm taking the Mavs here tonight with their playoff season on the line.

Notre Dame's defense is not great and will have tired legs on D after a grueling, physical game with Wisconsin. The Fighting Irish are 1-4 ATS following a spread win. North Carolina is so deep, a run-and-gun team behind sparkplug guard Mitchell Paige. North Carolina is off a 101-86 win over Indiana as Marcus Paige had 21 points, including six three-pointers, six assists and zero turnovers. Brice Johnson had another 20-point, 10-rebound performance and Kennedy Meeks Meeks logged 29 minutes against the Hoosiers, his most since playing 30 against NC State on Jan. 16. He scored (15 points) and got 9 rebounds, plus got to the free throw line, the best indicator of how aggressive he was offensively, taking seven free throws and making five of them. North Carolina is on a 6-1 spread run and will run away from a tired Notre Dame squad that lacks depth. Play North Carolina.

In addition, Boston is just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games. Orlando will not make the post season, as they sit 6 1/2 games back of the last spot. While not mathematically eliminated, they have to face reality. Still, Orlando has been covering games, with four in a row after Sunday's cover at Toronto.
