TCU at BYU 10:30 ET Horned Frogs (+) over Cougars - Having posted Texas Tech as my Highest-rated Megabucks WINNER over undefeated BYU was the highlight of Saturday’s 5-1 day. I also posted Iowa State and outright winner over this TCU team so I feel that I am in sync with both clubs which makes this a strong play in my head. I and a number of other professional feel that after a team who has been undefeated late in the football season and one’s that are into double-digit wins without a loss in college basketball will lose a second time after having been handed their first loss. BYU was 9-0 last week, now they have lost karma and bit of confidence is as well. Take TEXAS CHRISTIAN!

The dirty little secret is that the Sooners were badly outplayed, they make just 12 first downs and were fortunate to in be in the game, much less win it. The Sooner have had a week off to repair their offensive issues and the defense will need to pressure ‘Bama QB Ty Simpson (boy, he is good) and their defense must proved they are worthy of national attention. We have seen week after week the weak Nittany Lions get out-played and lose six straight games and now they come up better than a TD favorite on th road. Well, we must take a look at Michigan State. oh well what a surprise the Spartans have lost six straight games a s well. There is only a 30 yard difference in total offense and defense combined give the Lions about a 30 yard advantage which do not equate to a 7.5-point road conference favorite. Last year they broke Wake’s five game series winning streak posting a 31-30 victory as a 1-point favorite and school a pair of late touchdowns for the win. When he came to the Hoosiers after having led James Madison to a National Championship when asked about recruiting he simply said ‘”Google me.” His message to his players was you come here (to Indiana) if you want to win. Penn State is just a shell of what they were supposed to be a when the year began. They were supposed to be a contender and although the Lions have failed miserably still have enough high quality people to be competitive. Now, I understand that the Red Raiders are an explosive team but the Cougars have been on a huge upswing the last two seasons and, they will not be able to sneak up on the rest of the conference like they did last year. These two met two seasons ago and BYU as a 3-poit dog won outright at home 27-14 when Tech has more than a 150 yard advantage on offense as they held the Cougs to just 276 yards, But, they fumbled three times and had three passing intercepted. One of the questions as to why Utah is such a heavy favorite as the Bearcats top running back is out and the quarterback condition for the Utes adds mystery. Oh yeah, well which side…I mean No. 10 Georgia whose loss was 24-21 to Alabama has had its way over the Tigers in what is considered the ‘Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry’ and had a cakewalk last week over Kentucky. Texas opened the season losing to Ohio State (Megabucks Winner) and then pounded three nobodies and then over looked a down trodden Florida team as their look ahead played ended into their second loss. Surely, the team, that many pundits predicted would win it all is one loss away from being totally eliminated with a third defeat. Oklahoma (5-) is undefeated and Sooners may speak of revenue for last season’s 34-3 beat-down, but they are in a funky spot because of the Longhorns desperation who are 64-51-5 lifetime against the Okies and the eyes of Texas is upon them. ‘Hook’em Horn’s take TEXAS!

Trailing by 14 with eight minutes to go they went on a 17-0 run and have had two weeks to pat themselves on their backs. Now, two weeks to pat yourself on the back after a great come back win is too much. Playing in Laramie where the weather can always be a factor is one thing you can’t control, but the thing that will affect UNLV the most is the altitude which is 7.980 feet above sea level. Iowa at Iowa State 12:00 ET Hawkeyes (+) over Cyclones - Jet lag…nah! After winning in Ireland Iowa State has already returned to the USA and posted a 55-7 win over South Dakota which does nothing more than set this game up. The lag hits them here. Iowa has had the best of these two winning seven of the past nine SU while Iowa State is coming off of a 20-19 upset win as a 3-point dog last season. The Cyclones won a school record high 11 games last season and I expect a bit of regression after a banner year. Take IOWA!

Last Season we had Notre Dame right up until the FBS Championship game but this season I believe things will be different. Miami dropped three of their last four games after starting 9-0 last season. Notre Dame will have running back Jeremiyah Love returning but it is their quarterback that needs seasoning. The ‘Canes have added former Georgia QB Stetson Bennett and he will be the difference. Sometimes it is more than numbers and deciding which one s will be the key factors can be a bitch. Starting with the line which I believe is inflated but why Utah was no juggernaut last season and UCLA showed improvement especially their ground game. We all know coach Foster wants to control and run the ball but he has brought in Tennessee transfer QB (Ricco Ratzo Rizzo) and he is supposed to pick up the Bruins passing game. But, Utah owns the little cubbies and have dominated the game the past six meetings. The number )(line) is strong because the the beasts are so young and not all that well coached. Take UTAH!

Still, some people may have for gotten that Ohio State is the defending National Champion and it looks as though they will go off the underdog to a visiting Texas squad who almost all the media outlets have picked as No. 1. We, the nation has waited long enough and is going see if Longhorn QB Arch Manning is up to all the hype. He may be that good and after all, this is still a college football game and the leap isn’t like stepping into a staring QB roll in the NFL. Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta Notre Dame vs Ohio State 7:30 ET Fighting Irish (+) over Buckeyes- In late November the weekend that Notre Dame pounded the Army 49-14 and Ohio State lost 13-10 to Michigan I mentioned on the College Preview podcasts at Gamblersworld.net that the only way that OSU coach Sean Day can save his job after four straight losses to Michigan was to win the National Championship. I also stated that I thought the Fighting Irish were good enough to win it all. The Buckeyes’ claim had people that could still see them winning but I was scoffed at about the Notre Dame statement. These were not predictions just my personal feelings from my observations. So. now what, both of these clubs beat me last week (first time EVER losing a semi-final game) and now I’m supposed to have a feel for the winner, and I believe that I do! It’s all or nothing and neither of these clubs will be concerned with the number’ as the only thing that matters is winning the game there are no moral victories. You must win the game! I have had the Buckeyes in both of heir romps over Tennessee (1st Round GOY winner) and Oregon ( Rose Bowl GOY Winner) and they way they have won has titled the balance of the quest for the championship and the Longhorns must feel slighted and are (not that it really makes a difference) in Texas. Notre Dame who has 11 college football National Championship to their credit but have not won the big one since 1988. The Fighting Irish defeated Georgia with a 17 point blitz in :54 second and their defense did the rest keeping the Bulldogs under 300 total yards on offense. The Domer’s problem is that their quarterback Leonard just might run for more yards than he passes for, like he did against Georgia.
