The Canadiens are at a nice price here. Montreal goalie, Jakub Dobes, has been red hot as of late as he has allowed one goal over 57 shots faced in his first two starts. He’s the difference maker right now and we’re riding the hot hand with him. Washington has had some inconsistencies and they will struggle against this Montreal side that is actually playing well overall. Grab the plus money here in this spot as there’s good value here.

The Ducks and Blues have value to the under. These two offenses have been far too inconsistent and this has the makings of a game that will have limited scoring chances. Anaheim comes in averaging 2.52 gpg and they just don’t have any sort of spark offensively. The Blues aren’t far off at 2.71 gpg as they’ve struggled to find any sort of consistency. Carolina has the value as they take on Toronto. This is a trap game for the Leafs as they’re going to struggle against this Canes attack. While Toronto has won 5 straight, they’ve still been out shot significantly in that span. Carolina is the kind of team that loves to pepper the opposing net and they’re going to put on a relentless attack against this Leafs defense. Expect Toronto to be in their own zone a lot and to be on their heels as the Canes offense really comes at you from so many different angles. They’re averaging 3.34 gpg and they’ll produce many scoring chances.

Edmonton is the move as they take on Boston. The Bruins fell to the Islanders on Sunday as they continue to struggle to find any sort of consistency. We actually faded them on Sunday in that matchup and it paid off as their defense conceded 5 goals. That’s been the story all year and especially as of late as they simply have struggled when it comes to allowing goal scoring chances. The Oilers boast one of the best offenses in the league and they’re going to put relentless pressure on from the start. Look for the Bruins to be overwhelmed and battling fatigue, as this is their third game in four days.

Montreal and Vancouver meet on Monday and this is a perfect spot to fade the Canucks. Vancouver has been far too inconsistent this season and especially as of late. They’ve been unstable defensively and they’re just struggling when it comes to generating good shots on net. They were shut out on Friday as they continue to battle injuries. Meanwhile, Montreal is 4-2 in their last 6 and they’re playing some of their best hockey. They’re stepping up defensively and clearing the zone as right now they’re forcing opponents to struggle to maintain possession. This is a good spot and price on the home side.

Islanders ML

The Islanders are the move here against the Bruins on Sunday. Boston has just been far too inconsistent to trust and this is spot where they don’t matchup well. They have struggled on both ends of the ice and last time out it was their defense that has had issues. This is a game where they are going to have their hands full with the physicality of the Isles and they’ll struggle to put together many scoring chances. The Islanders will control the tempo and this game will be a struggle for the Bruins. Grab New York.

Columbus is the move here at home. St. Louis just doesn’t have the offensive consistency to trust, especially on the road. Overall, they come in averaging 2.73 gpg and they just have struggle at times to generate offense. This is a game where Columbus can control the possession and play with some speed that’ll cause issues for the Blues. Columbus has a younger team and their young core loves to play quick. Expect them to overwhelm the Blues on Saturday in a lopsided game.

Toronto has the value as they welcome in the Bruins on Saturday. Boston has been inconsistent offensively all year and they’re going through another short bump as they’ve scored just 1 goal in each of the last 2 games. Toronto is one of those teams that doesn’t allow many 2nd chances on net and they won’t allow many open shooting lanes. This defense will have the Bruins frustrated all night long and there’s good value here at this price.

Seattle has the value in this game against the Canucks. Vancouver has dropped 2 straight out of the holiday break, which includes a loss to this Kraken team. Seattle has proven they are scrappy and they can cause a lot of issues for opposing defenses. That’s what they’re going to do here against the Canucks again as they can wear them down on the defensive end. Seattle has scored 5 goals in each of their last two games and this will be a spot where they once again put together a solid offensive performance. Grab Seattle.

Washington has the value in this spot. It's not often I ever recommend laying over -150 odds, so this is a small play tonight but one I'm very confident in. Minnesota is dealing with a ton of injuries and they will be going with their backup in net. Combine that with them missing some key pieces both on the offensive side and defensive side and this will be a struggle of a game for the Wild. Washington will pepper the Wild net, as Minnesota is one of the worst when it comes to allowing shots on net. They rank 24th in the league and Washington will expose that. Grab the Caps.

The Flames have the value here as they take on the Canucks. Vancouver coughed up a lead in their first game out of the break and they now have to deal with a Calgary team that will slow the game down on them. Expect a very slow developing game from the start and for that to play into the favor for the Flames. They’ll frustrate and not give the Canucks many opportunities to break out on the counter. Utah ML

The Kraken put an end to their losing skid, but they will have their hands full with Utah here on Monday. Seattle is just far too inconsistent to trust. They’re struggling on both ends of the ice, but defensively it’s been bad for them. They haven’t been able to stop teams from crashing their net and getting multiple opportunities per possession. Utah will put an emphasis on that and push the issue on net, forcing the Kraken on their heels early in this game. The value sits here with the visitors.

Seattle was one team that needed the break as they struggled into the Christmas holiday, but this team still has a lot of talent top to bottom. They give up 3.11 gpg, but this team is at their best when they can slow the game down and frustrate the opposition by not giving them any open shots. The Preds have the value against the Canes. Nashville is starting to become healthier and healthier as the games go on and they’re playing much better hockey. Utah has caught some fire and they have the momentum heading into this matchup. They have won 4 of 5 and they’re now above .500 and it’s come from the offensive end. They have scored 4 goals in 4 of the 5 games and hit the 5 goal mark in the other during this stretch. This is a good matchup against Vancouver, who gives up 3.07 gpg. They have struggled defensively at times and they’ll have their hands full with the Utah attack. Grab the home side here as they are clicking on all cylinders and this is a great price on them.

The Oilers meet with the Panthers and this is a good spot here for Edmonton. They are red hot as they’ve hit in 9 of the last 11 and five overall as they’re dominating open play right now. They’re producing a lot of scoring chances and they’re coming at teams from so many different angles. This will be a game where they push the tempo on the Panthers and have them on their heels defensively. We’re getting a good price on the better team here. Washington and Dallas meet on Monday and this is a good over spot. These two teams love to attack and push the pile toward the opposing net, which should open up a lot of scoring chances. The Caps come in winners of 10 in a row on the road, as they’re clicking on all cylinders right now. Dallas has been solid offensively scoring 3.24 gpg themselves this season as they continue to find success. This will be a back and forth game with both teams producing scoring chances. The Canucks welcome in the inconsistent Bruins and this is a good spot on the home side. Vancouver is off a 4-0 win over the Panthers at home as this offense is so difficult to deal with. They’re averaging 3.29 gpg and they love to push the issue on teams. They’re one of the best at crashing the net and they will put relentless pressure on. They’re going to overwhelm the Bruins, who have had issues with fast paced teams like this. The Bruins just can’t figure things out and it’s seemingly felt like they just are too inconsistent on both ends of the ice. Grab Vancouver.

The Jackets and Ducks meet and this is a good under spot. Both offenses have been inconsistent this season and neither team has really had much of an attack at times. Winnipeg has the value here as they take on Vegas on Thursday. This is a great spot as they come in winners of 3 of 4 overall and they’re dominating on the defensive end. Overall this year they’re conceding 2.53 gpg against, which is one of the top marks in the league. They’re going to put the clamps down on Vegas in front of the net and not allow many 2nd chances. The Penguins and Canadiens battle on Thursday and this is a good under spot. Montreal boasts one of the worst offenses in the league as they’re averaging just 2.75 gpg so far this season. They have struggled to generate scoring chances and their inability to attack the net has caused a lot of struggles. Pittsburgh has been incredible inconsistent and they are right there at 2.83 gpg themselves. This has the makings of a very slow developing style game where both teams work the puck around and possession is the key. Grab the under.

The Wild have the value here at this kind of price. They come in winners in 5 of their last 6 and they have dominated the defensive end. They’re one of the tops in the league in many defensive categories and they’re giving up just 2.33 gpg. This defense just swarms to the puck and they do not allow any sort of 2nd chances. Utah has been too inconsistent to trust. They’ve struggled to get things going as a whole at times and Minnesota will pick this team apart on both ends of the ice. Projected Starting Goalies: Arvid Soderblom vs. Igor Shesterkin. This is a good under spot on the Rangers and Blackhawks. Chicago is one of the worst teams offensively as they’re putting up just 2.41 gpg. They have struggle to find any sort of spark as they just don’t have the weapons to find the back of the net. This will be a much slower developing kind of game and it’ll result in very minimal scoring chances. The Rangers concede just over 3 gpg, but they will put the clamps down against this weak Chicago offense. This will be one where possession dominates over scoring attempts and shots as we’ll see both teams struggle to put the puck on net. Grab the under.

The Panthers and Sharks meet on Saturday and this is a great spot for the under. This game is going to be slowed down by the Sharks, who will look to knock the Panthers off their rhythm. Florida has struggled at times with teams like San Jose, who love to play more of a possession game. They’re averaging just 2.79 gpg and they will come out and slow this game down and turn it into a grind. That’ll benefit the under, as they won’t allow Florida to get out and counter while they’re putting an emphasis on working the puck around. The Sabres have the value here at plus money as they welcome in the Jets. Winnipeg was going to have some regression from their red hot start and they come in after dropping 4 straight games. They’re struggling all of a sudden on both sides of the puck and they’ve scored 1 goal in 3 of the 4 games during this skid. Buffalo plays extremely quick and they love to crash the net. They’re going to overwhelm the Jets on Thursday and force them back on their heels early. The speed of the Sabres will be the difference as they come at opposing defenses from many different angles. Montreal has value at plus money on Thursday. Montreal has got much healthier and they have Patrik Laine back which adds a huge boost to this team. This will be the 2nd leg of a back to back after the Preds had to deal with a very tough Toronto team last night. The Canadiens can turn this into a track meet with their speed and they will wear out the Predators as this game goes. Look for a game with a ton of pace and for Montreal to push the tempo, as they’ll crash the net. Grab the plus money as this is a good situational spot.

This is a good situational spot here for the Kings at plus money. The Stars will be playing their third game in four days as they will be battling some fatigue here coming into Wednesday. The Kings meanwhile have had a few days off and Los Angeles has been solid defensively when it comes to giving up shots. They rank first in the league and they will bottle up this Dallas offense. The Stars are just .500 on the road and this is a spot they’ll struggle in. Grab the plus money.

That’s what they’ll do against this Wild team that has struggled at times with fast paced teams. Montreal has the value here at plus money as they take on the Islanders. These two teams are very even on paper, but Montreal can turn this game into a fast paced game that’ll cause a lot of issues for the Isles. Montreal has a young core that’ll push the tempo on this New York side and their speed will be a lot to handle. Dallas and Utah square off and this is a great spot for an under. Utah has started to really slow their pace down and they’re averaging just 2.88 gpg so far this season. This will be one where the Stars control the possession and this game turns into a slower developing one from the outset. Edmonton and Colorado clash on Saturday and this is a good spot for an over game. The pace these two teams play with is so fast and it opens up many things both ways offensively. The Oilers have seen their last 4 games feature 7 goals twice and 8 goals in the other two as they’re getting a lot of scoring chances, while also giving up a lot. On the flip side, the Avs are scoring 3.30 gpg, while also conceding 3.65. They have struggled mightily defensively and it’s led them to pushing the issue more offensively. This will be a game both teams will attack and crash the net, producing a lot of goal scoring chances. Back the over.

This will be the first time Dallas and Colorado meet since their battle in the West Semis and this is a good spot for an over bet. These two teams played to a high scoring and entertaining series last year and this will be another game where the tempo is high. Dallas scores 3.38 gpg and they tend to play much better offensively at home as well. They will push tempo on teams and they aren’t shy about crashing the net. Thats going to open things up for the counter and Colorado loves to get out and find some quick chances. They score 3.30 gpg, but their issues sit on the defensive end where they give up 3.65 gpg. This will be a back and forth game all night long with both teams finding chances.

Black Friday 9* NHL O/U Play

Vegas and Colorado clash on Wednesday night and we’re on the over here. This game should be wide open as both teams are playing to high scoring games. Vegas has won 3 straight and scored a combined 14 goals in those 3 games. They put in 3.86 gpg on average and their ability to produce scoring chances is one of the best in the league. They can create a lot from open play and they’re relentless when it comes to crashing the net. The Avs are similar and they are putting in 3.41 gpg, while conceding 3.77. This will be a back and forth game all night long where both teams find the back of the net.

Wednesday 8* NHL O/U Play

New York and Carolina meet and this is a good spot on the over. Carolina is one of the top offenses in the NHL, as they’re averaging 4.00 gpg. They’ve combined for 10 goals over their last 2 games and they just have so many different weapons that can attack. They’re going to overwhelm this Rangers defense and force them on their heels early. New York will have their counter attack chances and this will turn it into a quick tempo game. Montreal has the value here, as they come in at plus money here. Montreal has won 2 of 3 overall and they can pick apart this Utah defense. Montreal will have their scoring chances as Utah gives up 3.19 goals per game. Utah has had issues with teams who love to play aggressive and attack the net and that’s going to be the case here. Utah has been a struggle defensively and they have been at their worst when they allow the opposition to dictate the pace. Montreal will use their speed and push the issue in a game that should be wide open. That’ll favorite Montreal and at plus money in a game that’s so close, it’s worth the move.

Wild ML

The Jets and Wild meet on Monday and we’re on the home side here. Minnesota has gone 3-2 in their last 5 and they’re one of the best in both sides of the puck. They come in averaging 3.45 gpg, while giving up just 2.40. They’ve been able to find the back of the net more and more as they have a ton of different playmakers on each line. They’re going to push the issue on the Jets, who are due for some regression. This is the middle of a long road trip and fatigue is going to set in for the Jets in this spot. The value sits with Minnesota at this kind of price.

Avalanche ML

The Avs and Lightning meet on Monday and we’re on the Avs here at this price. Tampa Bay is just far too inconsistent to trust right now. They’re struggling on both ends of the ice and come in after back to back losses as they fell to the Jackets and Stars. They’re in the bottom tier defensively as they’ve given up over 3 goals per game so far this season. Colorado figured things out after a slow start themselves and they now have themselves above .500. They’re going to pick apart this Lightning defense and really put an emphasis on getting to the net. They’re rolling in with momentum after winning 3 straight games and this will be a good spot for them. Grab Colorado.

Vegas ML

Vegas has the value here as they take on Phili on Monday. The Flyers right now are just too inconsistent to trust. They’re under .500 and scoring just 2.71 gpg, which is near the bottom of the rankings. Defensively, they’ve been a mess as well as they’re giving up over 3.5 gpg. That doesn’t bode well with Vegas being an aggressive team that loves to push the tempo on teams. They’re going to give the Flyers a ton of pressure from the outset and this will be a game where they crash the net and find a lot of scoring chances.

Winnipeg is in a bad situational spot here as they take on the Preds. This will be the first time they’re playing back to back road games this season and they’re going to have their weak spot in net. Nashville has been a struggle out of the gate, but this team has to turn things around starting now if they’re going to put up a fight in the conference. The Preds have been on the short end of some bad luck and they’re going to come out with much more aggression here after a lengthy road trip. This is a situational edge spot for the Preds.

Tampa Bay and Columbus meet on Thursday night and we’re on the over. This will be a wide open game as we’ve seen Columbus have much more of an attack when playing at home. The Jackets have played well against some of the top teams as well, coming in after defeating the Bruins and scoring 5 goals. They’re a young team who will attack and that’ll open things up for the Lightning on the counter. Tampa Bay has so many different playmakers and they’ll come at Columbus from many different angles here. Expect a lot of fireworks and end to end action in a game where both teams produce a lot of scoring chances. Back the over.

The Devils and Canes battle on Thursday and this is a good spot on the Devils. New Jersey for a well needed rest as they’ve been off since Saturday. They’re healthy and rested and this is a game where they will matchup well with Carolina. The Canes have had to battle since Saturday with 3 games being played since and running into a physical Devils side. New Jersey’s goal will be to use their fresh legs and wear down the Canes as this game goes on. The Devils have been pushing the issue offensively and they crash the net as good as any team. The Golden Knights and Leafs meet on Wednesday and this is a good spot for Vegas. The Knights begin a 5 game road swing and they’re starting to heat up on the road. They won their last two road games and they are overwhelming teams with their ability to attack the net. This is a game where they’ll push the tempo on Toronto and look to put them on their heels defensively. Toronto has struggled at times with quick paced teams and they’re going to have their hands full with how Vegas crashes the net. The weapons the Knights have can give them so many chances to come at teams from different angles. This is a good spot and price on Vegas.

Edmonton and Ottawa clash on Tuesday and this is a great spot for a game that’ll feature a lot of back and forth action. Both teams love to pick up the tempo and that’s going to open a lot of things up here for both sides. The Oilers have a compliment of playmakers and they just come at teams from so many different angles. They’ve struggled defensively because of their aggressive offense at times and Ottawa will have their chances on the counter attack. The Sens are averaging 3.24 gpg as they can produce a lot of scoring chances themselves from open play. Expect a game with both teams putting pressure on the net and for them to find the back of the net early in this one to get things rolling.

Utah ML

Utah and Washington battle on Monday and this is a great situational spot for Utah. They catch the Caps on the 2nd leg of a back to back and this will be their third game in four nights. They’ve had to travel all around and fatigue is eventually going to catch up. It won’t bode well here against a fast Utah side that plays extremely physical. They’re one of the best with their ability to control the possession and they can wear down the Caps on Monday as this game gets deeper and deeper. Expect a very physical game and one where the Hockey Club works the puck around and controls the game in the Caps zone. Back the home side.

Columbus and Boston will meet inside TD Garden and this is a good under spot. Boston is playing up and down right now and they’ve seen a decline in their goal scoring through this early part of the season. They’re having issues to put pucks on net and this will be a slower paced game on Monday. Boston will try to control the possession and Columbus won’t get out and try to counter by any means. They’re struggling to find the back of the net themselves and their youth is being exposed during this recent tough stretch for them. This will be a game where scoring chances are at a premium and we’re getting a good number on the total.

The Canucks and Preds meet on Sunday night and this is a good spot on the under here. Vancouver has been at their best when they can step up defensively and they’re going to come out with that mentality here on Sunday. This will be a game played slower and possession focused as Nashville is in the midst of an offensive slump themselves. They’ve scored just 4 goals over the last 3 games and their issues have come from generating scoring chances. They aren’t creating open shots and they’re getting minimal looks. This will be a game where scoring chances are at a premium and it’ll be a slow paced game from the start. Grab the under.

Stars ML

Dallas and Minnesota renew their rivalry on Saturday and this is a good spot and price on Dallas. The Stars have won back to back games and scored 7 goals in each of those wins. They’re playing at a top tier level right now as they’re crashing the net and producing a lot of goal scoring chances. Minnesota has had struggles with teams like this that love to play quick and will send everyone at the net for rebounds. Dallas will continue to ride their offensive momentum into play here and push the tempo on them. Grab the visitors at this price as Dallas is the better overall team.

Devils ML

The Devils head into Tampa Bay for a showdown on Saturday and there’s good value in this spot on the visitors. New Jersey is the better team right now and they’re off back to back wins and have won 5 of their last 6 overall. They’re catching fire and they’re doing it with solid defense. They have not allowed more than 3 goals over that 6 game stretch and we’ve seen them continue to produce 1 or 2 goals against efforts consistently. They’re one of the best at clearing the zone and they don’t allow many 2nd or 3rd chances on net per possession. Tampa Bay has been wildly inconsistent this season and has dropped 4 of their last 5 overall. We’re getting the better team right now at a good price. Back New Jersey.

Columbus and Pittsburgh meet on Friday night and there’s good value at plus money with the home side. Columbus may be struggling but they welcome in a Pens team that is equally having their fair share of issues. Pittsburgh is having trouble controlling the puck and they’re having issues when it comes to allowing multiple chances per possession. Columbus does play very fast and they can expose that as they’ll be able to get out on the counter and crash the net. This is a good spot for them to break out of this slump and force the Penguins on their heels early. Grab the home side.

Capitals ML

The Caps welcome in the Leafs on Wednesday and there’s value with Washington on the ML. Not too many saw this team being so fast out of the gates, but the Caps are showing they have a lot of talent on this roster. Washington comes in with an 8 goal performance against the Blues and they’ve been able to find a ton of offensive success by crashing the net. That’s going to be the case once again here as the Leafs have had issues with teams that like to look for offensive rebounds. Toronto will struggle to maintain possession and it’s going to be an issue for them with the youth speed this Caps team brings. Washington is playing with a ton of confidence right now and they’re the better team.

Jets ML

Winnipeg hasn’t slowed down and they’re 14-1 off to one of the hottest starts in the NHL. We get a good line on this one as they take on a good Rangers team. It’s just too much to pass up on the hot hand right now. The Jets are doing everything right. They’re pushing tempo and they’re now dominating the on defensive end. They have allowed just 1 goal over their last 3 games and they’re giving up minimal shots. This will be a game where they continue that trend and not give the Rangers much possession. Winnipeg is the better team on both ends of the ice and they’re going to frustrate New York. There’s great value on the hottest team in the NHL. Back Winnipeg.

Ottawa and Toronto meet on Tuesday and this is a good spot for an under. It’s still likely that Matthews will be out for the Leafs which takes away a huge piece of this offense. Toronto has seen the last 6 games feature 6 goals or less with 5 of those being below 5 goals. They’re playing extremely slow and their defense is one of the best in the NHL. G Anthony Stolarz will be in net with a .930 SV% and he’s allowed just 1 goal combined over his last 2 starts. Ottawa has been wildly inconsistent offensively and they’re going to struggle with this defense from Toronto. This will be a grind of a game and neither team will give up anything easy on the defensive end. Grab the under.

Golden Knights ML

The Golden Knights have the value here, as they’ve been so dominant at home to start the season. Vegas comes in 8-0-0 at home and they’ve don’t just about everything right here. They’re out scoring the opposition 43-19 in this building and they’re overwhelming defenses with their ability to attack the net. They’re crashing and producing multiple scoring chances and that’ll be the case once again on Monday. Expect Vegas to push the pace of this game and control the puck in the Canes zone. The confidence they’re playing with at home is so high right now and they’re going to keep riding that on Monday.

Hurricanes ML

Carolina meets with Colorado and this is a good value spot on Carolina. The Avs have been far too inconsistent out of the gates as they come in just 6-8 and their offense has been non existent at times. They have struggled to get pucks on net and that’s not going to bode well against a good Hurricanes team. 10-2 out of the gate, the Hurricanes are doing everything right. They’re pushing the tempo, getting out on the counter, and their ability to crash the net is overwhelming. Given how bad the Avs have been on defense, this is likely a spot where Carolina can dictate the tempo and have the Avs on their heels. We’re getting good value on the Canes.

Canucks ML

The Canucks and Kings meet on Thursday in LA and this is a good spot and price on Vancouver. The Canucks have won back to back games on this road trip as they come in after dominating the Ducks the last time out. Vancouver has played well on the road overall and they’re getting great production in net. Lankinen comes in 6-0-2 and has a GAA of 2.09. He’s been able to neutralize the opposition and his ability to not allow rebounds has been solid. He's going to be the difference maker on Thursday once again and put the clamps down defensively. Vancouver is playing well on this road swing and they’ll have the advantage against the Kings.

Winnipeg and Colorado will figure to be two teams right in the thick of it when it’s all said and done and they meet on Thursday night. The Jets fast start as been attributed to their ability to put the puck in the back of the net. They have been one of the best teams offensively and they’re on a roll. They’ve scored at least 3 goals in all but 2 games as their fast pace has been tough for teams to handle. They come at teams from so many different angles and that’s going to be the case here. The Avs have had issues defensively themselves and it’s resulted in them having to try to get out on the counter attack themselves. This will be a back and forth all game. Grab the over.

The Senators welcome in the Islanders and we’re on the home side. Ottawa has been a handful for teams this year and when they’re on, they’re a tough team to stop. They come in 6-6, but their speed and ability to put pucks on net is going to be the difference maker here. Ottawa has been one of the best at crashing the net and putting relentless pressure on. The Islanders have struggled defensively as they’ve given up at least 3 goals in 6 of their last 7 games. Ottawa will expose that on Thursday night and push the tempo on them. The Jets welcome in Utah on Tuesday and this is a good spot on the under. Utah has come back to reality after a hot start and they’re struggling overall on the offensive end. Their struggles have come from generating shots and scoring chances, as it’s been tough sledding for them. Winnipeg has came out of the gates fast and they’ve found a ton of success themselves with their ability to control the puck. They love to work the puck around and they’ll play to wear down the opposition. That’s going to be the case here as they will work things around and chew a lot of the clock. Possession will be key and neither team will get out on the counter, giving the under good value in this spot. 

Tuesday 7* NHL O/U Play

Senators ML

The Senators have value in this spot as they take on Buffalo on Tuesday night. Ottawa has been solid with controlling the possession and they’re not giving the opposition many shot attempts on goal. They sit 9th in the entire league when it comes to opponents shots on their net as they’re simply not giving up a lot. Because of that, they have a positive goal differential, while the Sabres have gone the other way. Buffalo sits with a minus goal diff and it’s been a struggle for them at times to slow teams down. Ottawa plays with a ton of pace and the tempo is going to be too much for Buffalo. Grab the visitors here.

The Flames will head into Montreal and this is a good under spot. Both of these teams tend to play to a slower pace and this matchup will be one where neither team looks to push the tempo on each other. Calgary has lost 5 in a row and their inability to create chances has been a struggle from the start. They’re going to have their hands full with this Montreal defense, that doesn’t give up many open looks either. On the flip side, Montreal is going to struggle themselves with the same. They scored just 1 goal against the Pens last time out and they have been trying to find consistency. This is a good opportunity for this to be a lower scoring game. Grab the under.

Ducks ML

The Ducks have value here as they take on the Blackhawks on Sunday. Chicago is in a tough situational spot as they finish off a 5 game road trip here in Anaheim on Sunday. This is typically a spot where teams are looking forward to getting home and they come out sluggish. Anaheim can expose that here as the Blackhawks are a young team that has struggled defensively out of the gates. They’ve had issues allowing opponents to crash the net and put a lot of shots on net. This will be a game where Anaheim can control the tempo and possession, opening up shooting lanes in the Hawks zone. The Ducks are happy to be back home and this will be the start of a 6 game home stand for them. Expect them to come out with some fire early and put a lot of pucks on the Chicago net. Bruins ML

Boston and Phili both have stumbled out the gates a little bit as they meet on Saturday. We’re on the Bruins ML here as they’re still the better team overall. Boston just hasn’t been able to find their groove, but this is a good matchup for them to find it. While the Flyers have won 2 straight, they’re still lacking an offensive spark. They’ve struggled to create scoring chances and they’re going to have their share of issues with this Bruins team who has said they’re going to come out and start this month far better. Boston plays such a physical style and they’re going yo keep the possession in the Flyers zone, while crashing the net. There’s good value here with the Bruins on the ML.

Saturday 9* NHL ML Play

Lightning ML

The Lightning and Wild meet in Minnesota and we’re backing the visitors here. Tampa Bay has looked good out of the gate as they come in 7-3 and they’ve done it with stellar defense. They’ve won 3 in a row entering this one and they’ve allowed just 4 goals combined over those 3 games. Tampa Bay has been able to control the possession and they’re not giving up a lot of shots on their net. They’re going to matchup well with the Wild, who loved to try and play with a slower tempo. The Lightning can play this game at their pace and force the Wild out of their rhythm. Vasilevskiy has looked stellar in net and he’s the difference maker in this spot. The value is with the Lightning.

Friday 9* NHL ML Play

Sharks ML

The Blackhawks and Sharks meet on the west coast and this is a good spot for the Sharks at plus money. San Jose comes in off back to back wins as they’re in a stretch of playing their best hockey. They have tallied 9 goals over the two games and their attack is finally coming together. They’ve been at their best when they can use their speed and we’ve seen them push the issue the last two games. Chicago is a young team and they’re going to be overwhelmed with this Sharks counter and it should result in many scoring chances for San Jose. Chicago has struggled on the road and overall really this season. This west coast trip continues and will only get harder for them. Situationally, this is a good spot on the Sharks at plus money.

Preds ML

Nashville and Edmonton meet on Thursday in Tennessee and we’re on the home side here. Nashville catches Edmonton in a good spot here as the Oilers will be without McDavid who is going to miss a few weeks. With him leaving in the first period last time out, the Oilers offense looked lifeless in what was a 6-1 loss to the Jackets. This offense has struggled in the past without McDavid and they’re going to have their hands full with Nashville in this spot. The Preds fell in overtime to Tampa and saw their 3 game win streak come to an end, overall they’re still playing well on both ends of the ice. They’ve been able to clear the zone and they’re not allowing many 2nd or 3rd chances on their net. They’ll be able to frustrate this Oilers offense that is having issues and their inconsistency will be too much now with McDavid out. Lay the small price on the home side.

Thursday 9* NHL ML Play

Blues ML

St. Louis and Phili battle on Thursday night and we’re on the visitors in this one. The Blues have started the season off at .500 and after dropping 2 straight, this is a good bounce back spot for them. They’ve had defensive issues during this small tough stretch, but they will be able to get back to their solid ways against a Phili team that has struggled themselves. The Flyers have struggled to generate much attack and they have had many issues when it comes to possession. They’re allowing the opposition to dictate the pace and they’re spending a lot of time in their own zone. Look for St. Louis to dominate the possession in the Flyers zone and they’ll push toward the net, putting them on the heels defensively. This is a good spot and price on the Blues.

Red Wings ML

Detroit will look to hand the Jets their 2nd loss on Wednesday night at home. There’s good value at plus money on the Wings as they have had some good moments out of the gate to start the season. Detroit is the kind of the team that grinds out games and they’ll wear opponents down. Their ability to possess the puck and frustrate opponents is going to be the key here. Winnipeg gave everything they had to come back and fell short against the Leafs in their latest game. They suffered their first loss and now reality will start to set in for them after their high. Look for Detroits defense to frustrate the Jets and not allow many open looks in their zone. They have been solid at clearing the zone and not giving up many attempts in front. Detroit had the value with plus money on Wednesday.

Wednesday 7* NHL ML Play

Columbus ML

The Blue Jackets and Islanders meet on Wednesday and we’re getting good value on the Jackets. Columbus has opened a few eyes here early as their young core has looked good and comes in off a 6-1 win over Edmonton. They’re buzzing offensively and attacking the net, which is going to be their strategy here as they’ll see the Islanders backup goalie here. The Isles fell to Anaheim on Tuesday 3-1 and they’ll go with Varlamov in net. He comes in with a 3.72 GAA and has had many issues when it comes to allowing rebounds. Columbus crashes the net and they’re going to put relentless pressure on with 2nd and 3rd chances. Columbus is playing with a ton of confidence right now and they’re going to push the tempo on New York tonight. Grab the plus money.

Wednesday 8* NHL ML Play

Capitals ML

The Capitals and Rangers battle on Tuesday and this is a good spot and price on the home side here with the Caps. Washington has surprised a few people out of the gates with them winning 5 of their first 7 games. Washington has scored at least 3 goals in 6 of the their 7 games as they’ve pushed the issue offensively. They aren’t shy about crashing the net and they’re at their best when they pepper the opposing goal. This will be a tall task for them against the Rangers, but they can matchup with this side. Washington has the speed and tempo to keep up with them and they can control the possession here in their zone. The Caps offensively are relentless and they will have plenty of scoring chances against the Rangers defense. Grab the plus money.

Jets ML

The Jets and Leafs meet on Monday as Winnipeg looks to continue this record setting start to the year. Winnipeg has won 8 straight games to start the season and they’ve done it with dominate play on both ends of the ice. Winnipeg will welcome in a Leafs team that hasn’t looked good either to start their campaign. Toronto has lost 3 straight games and they’ve conceded 15 goals in that stretch to just the 6 they've scored. The confidence levels are totally different right now and Winnipeg is going to control the pace of this one. Look for them to put the pressure on right off the opening faceoff as they’re at their best when they dominate the possession and wear the opposition down. This is a dangerous Jets side and they’re in a far better spot right now than this scrambling Leafs team.

Monday 7* NHL ML Play

UNDER 6.5

The Devils and Ducks battle on Sunday night and this is a good under spot. The Devils have been playing a ton of games right out of the gate as they’ve played an NHL high 11 games so far. They’ve played 3 back to backs and come in off their 4th straight loss on Friday. They’re battling fatigue and they’re not going to have the relentless attack that they like to play with here. Also playing into this is the fact that the Ducks have played a lot of games on the road as they won’t see their home ice until Nov. 3. Anaheim is a slower paced team that loves to work the puck around and they’ll put an emphasis on dictating the possession here. They aren’t ones to pepper the net as they’ll control the puck in the Devils zone and try to create open shots. Expect this game to have limited scoring chances and for neither team to push out on the counter attack.

Panthers ML

The Panthers will continue their New York swing as they take on the Islanders on Saturday night. We’re on the visitors here as they have good value at this price. The Islanders will be playing the 2nd leg of their back to back after having a hard fought physical game against the Devils on Friday night. This quick turnaround is never easy and to have to do it against the Panthers is even harder. Florida’s offense has been fast out of the gates and they’re getting a ton of production from producing a lot of shots on net. They’re going to utilize their speed and try to pick the tempo up in this game, as fatigue will play a factor for the Islanders as this game carries on. Grab the Panthers as they have the situational edge and the overall edge on both ends of the ice.

Flames ML

Winnipeg has taken the NHL by storm early as they bring their undefeated mark into Calgary. We’re grabbing the Flames on the ML as they’re being undervalued here. Calgary comes in 5-1-1 as they’re off to a very fast start themselves. This line is inflated a bit toward the Jets as they have gone undefeated so far and continue to find ways to win. This is going to be a tough task for them as the Flames defensively have been one of the best. They’ve been able to force the puck out of their zone and it’s resulted in many counter attacks for them the other way. They’re putting relentless pressure on the net and their ability to wear down opposing defenses has been the biggest difference. Look for them to control the puck and have the Jets on their heels defensively. At plus money, there’s good value here on the home side.

Saturday 7* NHL ML Play

Dallas and Boston battle on Thursday night inside TD Garden and we’re on the over in this one. These two teams are poised for big seasons and Boston has to get themselves going here as they’ve came out of the gates slowly. Boston has had defensive issues to start this year and their inability to clear the zone has been a struggle. Dallas is a team that will put on relentless pressure and they’re going to put an emphasis on crashing the net here. Boston is 2-1 at home so far this season and they’ve tallied 11 goals in that span as they’ve had much better offensive rhythm here at the Garden. They’ll go at the Stars with a similar attack and crash the net as this game should feature a lot of scoring chances both ways. Look for an aggressive style kind of game that is open and will see a lot of goals.

Edmonton welcomes in Carolina on Tuesday and we’re on the over here as these two offenses should produce many scoring chances. Edmonton has stumbled out of the gates a bit as their defense has let them down. In their 4 losses so far this season, the Oilers have allowed 4 goals twice, 5 goals, and then 6 goals in their opener. They’ve had issues controlling the counter attack and opposing teams crashing the net. Carolina plays a very aggressive style and that’s going to cause so many issues for the Oilers in this one. The Canes have been similar when it comes to their losses as well. They’ve conceded 4 goals in both of them and they’ve had issues in a similar capacity when it comes to allowing counter attacks. This should be a wide open game where both teams attack the net and it ‘s played with a lot of speed. Back the over.

Leafs ML

The Maple Leafs and Lightning will play the sole game on the NHL board on Monday and it’s the Leafs with value in this spot. Toronto has been a solid defensive team through the early portion of this season, as they’re putting an emphasis on playing much slower. They’ve been focused on controlling the puck more and not allowing the opposition to get off many shots. Toronto goalie, Anthony Stolarz owns a GAA of just 1.79 so far as well. He’s not allowing many rebound chances for the opposition and he’s going to be a huge force all season long in net. Tampa Bay dropped their first game of the year last time out and they’re going to struggle with the style this Maple Leafs team plays with. Grab the home side.

Monday 7* NHL ML Play

Canucks ML

The Canucks and Flyers clash on Saturday and were on the visitors here as Vancouver has the value. The Canucks got in the win column on Thursday as they took down Florida in overtime 3-2. The Canucks are going to be a force this season as they are going to have one of the best attacks in the league. They play with a ton of tempo as they’re combined with youth and vets that will gel well together. Goaltender Kevin Lankinen saved 26 of 28 shots on net in the win and also saved 29 of 31 against this Flyers team earlier this season already. Philadelphia is a sloppy team and they will be on their heels all night with the style this Vancouver team plays with. We’re getting good value at this price on the Canucks, who are the better team and will be the aggressor.

The Lightning travel into Ottawa and this is a good situational spot for the Sens. Ottawa has alternated wins and losses through their first 4 games of the year so far. We’ve seen them look good at times on the offensive end as they have an 8 goal performance already under their belts. They’ll need that kind of attack minded play against a Tampa Bay team that is extremely aggressive. The Lightning’s flaw will come against them on the counter attack. They throw so many players at the net when attacking, Ottawa will have chances to get out on some counters. The Sens have the playmakers from so many different angles that can put the puck on the net too. Ottawa can expose the Lightning’s aggressive style and should see some chances. There’s good value on the home side here to hand the Lightning their first loss.

The Ducks and Avs battle on Friday night and we’re playing the over here. This should be a game that is wide open with end to end action as both teams love to play with speed. The Avalanche have started the season 0-4 and they’ve been atrocious on the defensive end. They’ve given up 25 goals over the 4 games as they just are getting peppered on net. The Ducks are going to crash the net and push the issue here. Colorado is going to counter as they’ve had zero issues scoring goals themselves too. They’ve still managed to put in 13 goals despite their defensive issues and this will be a game they try to get out quickly. Expect plenty of goal scoring chances both ways.

Canucks ML

The road trip continues for the Canucks as they head into Florida to deal with the Panthers. There’s good value here on the Canucks, who are trying to get in the win column. Vancouver has a pair of overtime losses so far as they’re right there to start the season. The Canucks are going to be a force offensively again and that bodes well here against a Florida team that has had a lot of issues on the defensive end to start this year. They’ve allowed at least 3 goals in every game so far and they’ve struggled mightily when it comes to allowing open shots on net. This is the kind of game the Canucks speed will cause so many issues for them. Look for Vancouver to try and get out and counter, pushing the tempo on them. This a good spot and price on the visitors.

Thursday 8* NHL ML Play

Golden Knights ML

Vegas and Tampa clash on Thursday night and we’re on the Golden Knights here at plus money. Vegas is going to be one of the top teams in the NHL this year as they have one of the best attacks in the league. They started the season off with 3 straight wins, which included them scoring 15 goals combined in those 3 wins. Vegas is relentless with their pressure and they can pick apart this Lightning defense. Tampa Bay has had issues allowing a lot of counter attack goals and the Golden Knights aren’t shy about crashing the net. Look for them to get plenty of 2nd and 3rd chances on net, which will wear down the Lightning. These teams are very even and getting this kind of price is worthy of a move. Back Vegas.

The Sabres and Penguins clash on TNT on Wednesday and the Sabres have good value here. Pittsburgh comes in 2-2, but early indications are going to show that this team is going to be very inconsistent this season. They had very low expectations coming in and they’re going to struggle defensively all season long. They’ve given up 16 goals through their first 4 games as it’s been a major struggle to slow any team down. This Buffalo team plays with a ton of speed and will look to come out here with a little more fire after their slow start to the season. The pace and tempo is going to be too overwhelming for this Penguins defense and they’re going to be on their heels all night long. Grab the visitors at this price.

The Wild and Blues battle on Tuesday night and we’re on the Wild here at a nice price. Minnesota comes in after falling 2-1 to the Jets in OT, which came after a 5-4 OT shootout loss to the Kraken the night before. They responded well to a back to back and this will help them get their feet underneath them as a lot of teams continue to try and get into the groove. Minnesota will also get Eriksson back in the lineup on Tuesday which will provide a huge boost for the Wild. This is a matchup where the Wild can dictate the pace and possession, which will have the Blues on their heels. Minnesota has far better weapons and they’re going to frustrate the Blues all night long. This is a good price on the better side. Back the Wild. 

Tuesday 7*  NHL ML Play

Ottawa and LA both come in after losses and will look to bounce back here. This should be a wide open game as both teams are going to try and put an emphasis on getting an early goal. In both losses, these teams scored 1 goal each after they both scored 3 in their opener. These two teams are their best when they can out a lot of traffic in front of the net and work with a lot of rebounds. This will be the kind of game that both teams try to push the tempo on each other and pepper the opposing net. The Kings are settled in here as this is their 3rd road game in 7 to start the season because of their stadium renovations. These are the games where they have their legs underneath them and it’ll be much more open. Expect an early goal to set the tone and for this game to be high scoring.

Monday 9* NHL O/U Play

Ducks -115

The Ducks and Sharks battle on Saturday night as this will be the opener for the Ducks, while the Sharks come in 0-1. Anaheim should be able to pick apart this defense, that allowed 5 goals to the Blues in the opener. That was the concern coming into this season as the Sharks have been one of the worst defensive teams in many seasons now. The Sharks allowed the Blues to pepper their net for 40 shots in the opener and that’s going to be the strategy for the Ducks. Anaheim is going to look to put the puck on the net and beat this Sharks team with rebounds and their ability to crash the net. San Jose is one of the worst when it comes to allowing 2nd and 3rd chances and that will ultimately be their downfall here. Anaheim has the edge and the value in this spot. Grab the visitors.

Saturday 8* NHL ML Play

Oilers -1.5

Edmonton welcomes in Chicago and we’re laying the PL with the Oilers. Edmonton is just the better team on both ends of the ice and this should be a bounce back spot for the Oilers after getting knocked around by the Jets. Edmonton came out flat from the outset and just didn’t have any steam in what was a 6-0 loss. This team is far too talented for that and this will be a game they put a ton of emphasis on coming out quicker. Chicago’s defense is very suspect as well, which adds a ton of value here. They allowed 5 goals to Utah in their opener and they just struggled all night possessing the puck. This is going to be a game Edmonton will put on a relentless attack and will wear down the Blackhawks. Lay the PL with the Oilers as their stars bounce back.

Saturday 6* NHL PL Play

Stars -116

There’s a lot of hope in Nashville after they made many offseason moves to bring in scorers. They’ll roll this new lineup out against a Stars team that is going to cause a lot of issues for opposing teams once again this season. Dallas is the kind of team will dominate the possession and you won’t find many easy chances against them. They were one of the best defensively last season as they shut down teams with their ability to not allow 2nd and 3rd chances on net. Dallas will be at the benefit of this Nashville side trying to find their chemistry early. We’ve seen in the past when big signings happen, it takes a few games for these teams to find it. While the likes of Stamkos and Marchessault are going to prove to be moves, Nashville will come out sloppy. This is a good chance for the Stars here to open the season well and put some pressure on early. Back the visitors.

Thursday 7* NHL ML Play

Penguins +125

The Penguins are looking to turn their fortunes after back to back seasons where they fell short of making the postseason. We’re getting them at plus money here on Wednesday and there’s great value. The Penguins are being undervalued a bit as this team in this spot and this is a game where they’re going to come out and look to make a statement. Pittsburgh will lean on Crosby, per usual, as he comes in after scoring 42 goals last season. Entering what will be his 20th season, the Penguins star has made it clear that this team is all business and they’re going to come out with a lot of fire. The Rangers lack that spark offensively and that will be a struggle here for them against this Penguins defense. Pittsburgh can match up on both ends of the ice and they’re going to have the edge on Wednesday. Grab them at plus money.

Wednesday 8* NHL ML Play

KRAKEN -150

Seattle and St. Louis will open the NHL season on Tuesday and were playing the Kraken at home. Seattle marched to the Western Conference Semi Finals 2 years ago, but last season was an absolute debacle and it led to firing the coach in the offseason. This Seattle team enters the season already saying they’re going to play with a ton of tempo. They want to play fast and attack quickly. The Kraken signed center Chandler Stephenson and defenseman Brandon Montour, a pair of former Stanley Cup winners, who will boost this team at both ends of the ice. Seattle is going to be so much deeper this season and they’re going to have much more talent. They will come out looking to make a statement here in their opener. Back the Kraken in this spot.

Tuesday 6* NHL ML Play

Under 5.5

We’re on the under here as Edmonton and Florida clash in Game 7. It’s been a crazy Stanley Cup and right now, all the momentum is on the side of the Oilers as they’ve erased a 3-0 deficit to come back here and make it 3-3. Game 7 is going to be back in Florida and this is going to be such a tightly played game. No matter what, you can throw records out the window for this game as both teams will come in with a tentative strategy to start. You’re going to see a lot more possession as neither side wants to give up the early goal. This is going to be such a slow developing game and neither team will give up much on the rebounding side. Expect both goaltenders to be at their best and for this game to be tight throughout. In games like this, defense is the main focus for teams and there’s good value for that to be the case here.
