ASA NHL PLAY ON OVER: Colorado Avalanche at Calgary Flames, Friday at 10:05 PM ET
3 of the 4 games in this series have resulted in an under but the teams have averaged a combined 83.3 shots on goal the past 3 games. That is an unusually high number of shots on goal and shows that both the pace of the game and the scoring opportunities have been conducive to an over. Game 3 was included in this run and that game totaled 8 goals but the other 2 games in this 3-game stretch totaled 5 goals apiece. Per our computer math model, this one is getting closer to the 8-goal total than the 5-goal mark. The most recent game with Calgary hosting Colorado saw the Flames get held to just 2 goals but, previous to that, Calgary had averaged 5 goals per game in their 4 prior home games against the Avalanche. The Flames are facing elimination and at home and will turn to a very aggressive attack in an attempt to stave off elimination here. The teams have combined to average 2 power play goals per game in this series and have combined to average nearly 10 power play opportunities per game so far in this series. All the above numbers are good numbers when looking for a high-scoring games in NHL playoff action and this situation and the value (total at an even 6 goals) fit the bill for a solid play Friday night. Bet OVER in Calgary in NHL action Friday.

ASA NHL PLAY ON Over: Islanders at Penguins, Sunday at 12:05 PM ET
Down 2-0 in this series the Pittsburgh Penguins need to turn the tables on the New York Islanders and get back into this series. That starts by changing the pace of the game. The Penguins know they can ill afford to let the Islanders dictate the pace and now, back on home ice, Pittsburgh will look to push the tempo. Look for Pittsburgh to work hard to get the Islanders out of their comfort zone. Tight low-scoring games are what suits the Islanders. The Penguins are running out of time and, after losing Game 1 in overtime, they then lost a tight low-scoring Game 2. Time for the Pens to get the Isles out of their comfort zone and now that the series has shifted to Pittsburgh that is precisely what we expect here. Our computer math model is calling for 7 goals here and we certainly expect at least 6 which means that the over 5.5 at plus money is offering great value given the situation here. ASA NHL PLAY ON OVER: Ottawa Senators at Buffalo Sabres, Thursday at 7:05 PM ET
Some extra juice to lay with this over at 6 goals but it should prove well worth it. The Senators are starting 22-year old rookie goalie Joey Daccord who makes the jump from goaltending at Arizona State to now facing the world's best players in the NHL. Daccord and the Sens will be facing a very hungry Sabres team too because this is Buffalo's home finale and they have endured a lengthy losing streak including a 3-2 loss in their most recent home game. As a result, and with facing a rookie goalie tonight, the Sabres are expected to be very aggressive in this game. That should lead to plenty of goals because, while Buffalo should score well here, they have been struggling to keep the puck out of their own net. The Sabres have allowed 4.3 goals per game in their last 11 games. Before scoring just 2 goals against the Predators, Buffalo had notched 4 goals in 2 of its last 4 home games. The Senators, under interim coach Marc Crawford, have been a different team. Ottawa has scored 4 or more goals in 6 of its last 9 games! Overall the Sens have averaged a respectable 3.4 goals per game their last 9 games. The Senators have scored 4 or more goals in 3 of their last 4 meetings with the Sabres. Buffalo potted 9 goals the last time they hosted Ottawa. The over is 13-6 this season when the Sens are off a win by a multiple-goal margin. The over is 7-3 the past 10 April games for Buffalo. Late season game with no post-season implications means plenty of open ice and great scoring chances. Bet this OVER in early evening action Thursday

ASA NHL PLAY ON OVER: Anaheim Ducks @ Edmonton Oilers, Saturday at 10:05 PM ET - The Ducks are off an embarrassing 6-1 loss last night at Calgary.. Prior to managing just 1 goal in the defeat, Anaheim had scored 3 or more goals in 9 of their 12 prior games. The Ducks are 4-0 to the over in their last 4 games. The Oilers are off a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Dallas on Thursday. Prior to that defeat, Edmonton was 4-1 to the over in their 5 previous games. The Oilers had allowed 4 or more goals in 5 of their 7 prior games. Edmonton had scored 3 or more goals in 7 of their last 8 games. You can see why we're expecting each hockey club to get to at least 3 goals in this one and that sets this up for no less than a 4-3 final and the total is set at just 5.5 goals in this one. Helping the cause is the fact that both teams are out of the post-season picture and that means less defensive intensity as they look to wrap up the season simply playing for pride. That is the reason you're seeing each of these clubs trend toward the over in recent games and per our math model, that over trending continues here. ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Vegas at St Louis, Monday at 8:05 PM ET
Marc-Andre Fleury might be back with the Golden Knights for tonight's game. However, couple of key factors even if the Vegas goaltender does return tonight. He has been out with a lower-body injury plus his wife just gave birth to their third child on Friday. Not only are there injury and distraction issues for Fleury, he has lost his last two starts against St Louis as the Blues have gotten to him for 9 goals in those two games! Additionally the veteran netminder could be a little rusty if he gets the call as tonight would be his first start since March 15th. If Malcolm Subban gets the start, he is 2-7 with a 3.47 GAA in his road starts this season. You can see why the Blues should score well here. St Louis has won 4 of its last 5 games and scored an average of 4.8 goals per game with the over going 4-0-1 in those contests. The Golden Knights are off a disappointing home loss to the lowly Red Wings. Vegas managed just two goals in that game. The 4 most recent times that Vegas was off a game in which they've been held to two goals, their next game has gone over all 4 times! 1 of those games totaled 8 goals and the other 3 each totaled 9 goals! With this total at a 5.5 we've got great line value here considering the situation. We expect plenty of goals tonight based on our computer math model. Bet OVER

Also, the Blue Jackets are 13-8-1 to the over when they are off a loss by a multiple goal margin. The Oilers enter this game off a 7-2 loss at St Louis. Edmonton has now allowed 6 or more goals in 3 of its last 4 games! The Oilers are 22-13 to the over this season in games against teams with a winning record. The Blue Jackets are seeking revenge for a 4-0 home loss to Edmonton earlier this season. Getting shutout in that match-up was certainly unusual for Columbus as the two meetings last season each totaled at least 9 goals! We expect a similar result tonight based on our computer math model. ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Minnesota at Tampa Bay,Thursday at 7:35 PM ET
The Lightning are the best team in the NHL and their 12-1 run their last 13 games shows just how dangerous they can be in the offensive zone. Tampa Bay has scored an average of 4.3 goals per game during their 12-1 hot streak. . The Bolts are hosting the Wild early Thursday evening and Minnesota is enjoying a recent resurgence. The Wild are on a 7-game points streak (5-0-2) as they have not lost a game in regulation in any of their last 7 games. Of course that streak is expected to come to an end here at Tampa Bay but certainly not without a fight. Minnesota has scored an average of 3.6 goals per game in their last 5 road games. Going further back, the Wild have scored 3 or more goals in 9 of their last 11 road games. Of course if each team gets to 3 goals here we have ourselves a winner as this total is set at 6 goals and would have to then land on at least 7. Minnesota has been struggling on the penalty kill and has allowed 11 power play goals in their last 11 games. The over is 12-7 this season when the Wild are off a division game. The over is 16-8 this season when the Lightning are off a non-conference game. The last two games between these teams have resulted in an average of 8 goals scored and our computer math model is forecasting the final score in this one to land on 7 or 8 goals. ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: Detroit at Colorado,Tuesday at 9:05 PM ET
The Red Wings have lost 7 straight games as they've given up 4.7 goals per game during this rough stretch. The Avalanche are off a low-scoring loss but previously scored an average of 4.3 goals per game their 6 prior games. Colorado should certainly score well tonight as you can see. The Avalanche have allowed 6 power play goals in their last 7 games. The Avs have also scored 7 power play goals in these 7 games. Certainly looks like a great match-up for special teams to contribute some goals in this one as well. The Avalanche have averaged 40 shots on goal in their last 5 home games. The Red Wings have allowed 37.5 shots on goal per game their last 4 games. You can see why we're expecting plenty of end to end action in this one with plenty of scoring opportunities. Detroit is 12-6 to the over when playing with home loss revenge this season and the over is also 12-6 when the Red Wings enter a game on a losing streak of 3 or more games. The over is 8-3 this season when the Avalanche are off a game in which they were held to 1 goal or less. Great situational edges in this one. Bet the OVER in Colorado Tuesday evening

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: Edmonton at Ottawa,Thursday at 7:35 PM ET
The Oilers are in a tough back to back spot here and both goalies (Koskinen and Stolarz) were involved in last night's ugly loss at Toronto. Not only does that mean each goalie would be in a back to back (and one of them will have to play here), it also means that Edmonton has a weakness between the pipes. Koskinen has been struggling and Stolarz was just recently acquired from the Flyers. He had a few bright spots for Philadelphia but his overall numbers tell the full story. That being said, the Senators should score their fair share of goals in this one. The issue for Ottawa, however, is that they are one of the worst teams in the league in terms of shots allowed per game. Connor McDavid and the Oilers have enough potency on offense that they should bounce back here against a Senators team that is one of the worst hockey clubs in the league. The over is 11-6 this season in Edmonton's road games with a total set at 6 or more goals. The over is 23-15 in Ottawa's home games with a total set at 6 or more goals. Also, the over is 14-9-2 in Senators non-conference games this season. Bet the OVER in Ottawa early Thursday evening.

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: Tampa Bay at NY Rangers, Wednesday at 7:35 PM ET
The Lightning have won 9 straight games and have averaged scoring 4.6 goals per game during this red hot run. The Rangers, playing without any playoff pressure as they were sellers and not buyers at the trade deadline, are actually a dangerous dog in a spot like this. New York is playing loose and relaxed. That is part of the reason the Rangers have scored 5 or more goals in 4 of their last 6 games. You're not going to see many defensive, low-scoring grinders involving the Rangers the rest of the way this season. The Bolts are so talented and, by far, the best team in the league this season and should have no trouble dismantling the rather weak defense corps of the Rangers. However, don't be surprised if the Rangers continue their recent scoring resurgence and that should turn this game into a very entertaining high-scoring battle. The over is 5-2 in New York's last 7 games. The over is 17-9 this season when the Rangers are off a game in which they allowed 4 or more goals. The Lightning are 15-8 to the over this season when off a non-conference game. Bet the OVER in NY Rangers early Wednesday evening.

ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Montreal at Detroit, Tuesday at 7:35 PM ET
The Canadiens are expected to have Jonathan Drouin back in the lineup tonight. Either way, this is a great spot to expect plenty from Montreal in the offensive zone. The Canadiens are off a tough 2-1 loss at Florida last night as they did manage 35 shots on goal. In fact Montreal has now totaled 110 shots on goal in their last 3 games. That is an average of 37 shots per game and, prior to the low-scoring loss to the Panthers, the Canadiens had scored 3 or more goals in 4 straight games. We are expecting each team to get at least 3 goals tonight and, of course, that would guarantee at least a 4-3 final at worst. Though we expect the Canadiens to score well in this one there are issues likely for them between the pipes. That is because their #1 goalie, Carey Price, was between in the crease last night. That means either Price has to go in the 2nd night of a back to back (which is not easy and rarely occurs) or Antti Niemi will be getting the call. The over is a fantastic 11-4-1 in Niemi's 16 starts this season! He has particularly struggled on the road where he has an .878 save percentage. He is likely to be opposed by the Red Wings Jimmy Howard tonight but he has been dealing with an illness. When Howard has played recently he has struggled. He has a poor .860 save percentage in his last 4 games (3 starts). If Jonathan Bernier gets the call in between the pipes the Detroit netminder has a rough .868 save percentage in his 5 divisional games (4 starts) this season. The over is 3-1 in those 4 starts. The Red Wings have scored at least 3 goals in 5 of their past 7 games. There have been no unders (3-0 and one push) the last 4 times the Canadiens have played the 2nd game of a back to back. The Red Wings have a number of trends supporting this play as well. Detroit's over is 11-6-1 when revenging a home loss, 12-6-1 when off a defeat by a multiple goal margin in their prior game, and 11-5-1 this season when entering a game on a losing streak of 3 or more games. Bet the OVER in Detroit early Tuesday evening.

ASA 9* PLAY ON UNDER: Chicago at Detroit, Wednesday at 7:35 PM ET
Believe it or not there is playoff pressure here. Yes the suddenly hot Blackhawks are very much alive in the race for a post-season spot. Chicago is off an absolutely crazy 8-7 win over Ottawa Monday. However, prior to that game the Blackhawks had held 7 of their last 9 opponents to 3 or less goals. They have been better defensively and in between the pipes than what their over trend would lead you to believe. They are visiting Detroit Wednesday and the Red Wings have allowed 3 or less goals in 7 of their last 8 games. This total has climbed as high as a 7 in some spots but an even greater value is with the under 6.5 at a +125 payback. We envision a hard-fought 3-2 type game here. 13 of the Red Wings last 18 games have resulted in an under! Jimmy Howard is expected to be between the pipes. Prior to struggling in his most recent start he had enjoyed a solid stretch with 8 of his 11 previous starts resulting in an under. Another one in the forecast here and we take advantage of a value spot here as too much emphasis is on the way Blackhawks have played out and not nearly enough emphasis on the Red Wings recent level of play and the fact that they will look to play this game their style on home ice. Bet the UNDER in Detroit Wednesday evening.

ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Vegas at Colorado, Monday at 9:05 PM ET
The over is 5-0 in the Golden Knights last 5 games. Vegas had been on a losing skid and so they made some line changes to spark the team and it worked out very well as they won 5-1 over visiting Nashville Saturday. Now the Golden Knights take to the road and they carry extra confidence from generating 50 shots on goal and scoring 5 goals against the Predators. The issue tonight for Vegas will be between the pipes. Though Malcolm Subban had a great start for the Golden Knights Saturday, Marc-Andre Fleury is likely to be back between the pipes tonight. Fleury's last 3 starts were all losses and Vegas allowed an average of 5 goals per game in those 3 defeats. Ever since the calendar turned the page to 2019, Fleury has not been the same netminder he was in the first 3 months of this season. Should Vegas surprise and go with Subban again, we would gladly challenge him to come up big again in consecutive starts. Subban has not been used in back to back starts this entire season. The Avalanche are known for their dangerous top line of Rantanen, MacKinnon, and Landeskog. With Vegas playing a more aggressive style again, this is likely to lead to some end to end action in this game with swift moving of the puck creating solid scoring chances and some breakdowns on defense. The Avalanche know all about defensive breakdowns as they have lost 6 straight home games and allowed an average of 4.7 goals per game in those 6 defeats! The Avs are off a rare home shutout but, even with recent struggles, Colorado entered that game having averaged 3 goals per game in their prior 12 games. With consideration to all of the above factors, we see no reason that each team won't get to at least 3 goals here and, of course, the game can't end 3-3! Great value with this over at 6 even for Monday night. Prior to the home shutout versus the Blues Saturday, the over was 6-2 in Colorado's previous 8 home games. The over is 4-1 in the Golden Knights last 5 games against teams with a losing record. The over is 8-2 this season when the Avalanche scored a goal or less in their prior game. This is a revenge game for the Avs and that is a situation that has seen the over go 77-54 long-term including 19-11 this season. Bet the OVER in Colorado Monday evening.

ASA 9* PLAY ON UNDER: Columbus at Chicago, Saturday at 8:35 PM ET
The Blackhawks have been trending over but that is hiding the fact that Chicago has actually allowed an average of only 2.25 goals per game in its last 4 home games. .This game is likely to be more of a defensive-minded battle than many are anticipating. That's because the Blue Jackets are coming off a loss and will be hungry for a win here. Columbus is well aware of Chicago's recent goal-scoring prowess and, as a result, the Jackets will be looking to slow the pace in this one tonight. Very quietly the Blue Jackets have also been very solid in their own zone. Columbus had allowed an average of only 2 goals per game during their 4-game winning streak that preceded the 3-0 loss versus the Islanders Thursday. 4 of the last 5 games between these teams have resulted in an under and that includes a 4-1 home loss for the Blue Jackets earlier this season. Columbus is playing with revenge in this one and that is a situation this season that has resulted in only 6 overs in 22 occurrences! Bet the UNDER in Chicago Saturday evening.

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: New Jersey at Minnesota, Friday at 8:35 PM ET
The Devils strongest goalie this season has been MacKenzie Blackwood. However, he recently got sent to the AHL because Cory Schneider (the Devils regular #1) was done with his conditioning assignment and ready to return. That means the usual #2 guy, Keith Kinkaid, gets the start tonight because it was Scheider between the pipes last night at Chicago. New Jersey jumped out to a 2-0 lead against the Blackhawks but then went on to lose 5 to 2 as their miserable stretch continues. It is highly unlikely that Kinkaid will prove to be the answer in the crease. The Devils are 4-12 in the netminder's 16 road starts. The over is 10-5-1 in those Kinkaid starts away from home. The key to the value here is Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau gave the Devils some bulletin board material for this game. After practice yesterday Boudreau guaranteed his Minnesota club will make the post-season. Now, when you're about to face a team that has been relegated to playing the role of spoiler, the last thing you want to do is give them a reason to be motivated but that is precisely what Boudreau did. The reason we are on the over here and not the Devils is because New Jersey's goaltending situation simply can not be trusted. The point being that this motivated New Jersey hockey club is going to give a strong effort and be aggressive in getting good scoring opportunities, but the skaters aren't the ones in between the pipes and that means the Devils allow plenty of goals here as well! The Wild have scored 4 or more goals in 5 of their last 9 games. New Jersey has allowed 4 or more goals in 5 of its last 8 games overall. The over is 15-7 in Devils non-conference games this season. The over is 13-7 in Minnesota's non-conference games this season. Also, the over is 9-5 in Wild home games with a total set at 6 or more goals this season. Bet the OVER in Minnesota Friday evening.

ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Ottawa at Detroit, Thursday at 7:35 PM ET
The Senators Craig Anderson would likely have gotten this start in goal tonight but he has been downgraded to doubtful for this game due to an eye injury he suffered in the gym. That means Anders Nilsson will be between the pipes tonight for Ottawa and he is coming off a horrific 3rd period in the loss to Carolina Tuesday that is the type of collapse in a game that can impact the mentality of a netminder in his next start. Nilsson is not the normal #1 for the Sens and he also struggled in his most recent road start. The Senators lost 5-3 at Pittsburgh in the most recent road start for Nilsson. Twice in Nilsson's last 3 road starts Ottawa has given up 4 or more goals. The Senators will be looking to atone for a poor performance against the Hurricanes in the offensive zone Tuesday. Prior to scoring just 1 goal against the Canes, the Sens had scored 4 or more goals in 3 straight games! The Red Wings are off a big dog upset win at Nashville Tuesday as they allowed only 2 goals. However, Detroit had allowed an average of 4 goals per game in their 3 prior games. The Wings have allowed 14 goals in Jimmy Howard's last 4 home starts and he is expected to get the call tonight. The Senators have revenge here and the over is 21-10 this season in their revenge games. Also, Ottawa's O/U is 13-6 this season when they are off a defeat that came by a multi-goal margin. In road games with a total set at 6 or more goals, the Sens O/U is 16-8-1 this season. There have been 7 special teams goals scored in the Red Wings last 4 games. Ottawa's penalty killing unit only killed off 2 of 4 opportunities in the Carolina game. The Senators power play unit however is 2 for 4 on the power play in their last two road games. With special teams and the goalie situation helping us tonight, this one should see 7 or more goals scored! Bet the OVER in Detroit Thursday evening.

ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Toronto at Colorado, Tuesday at 9:05 PM ET
The over is 18-4-3 in Frederik Andersen's last 25 starts for Toronto. The Maple Leafs last 12 visits to Colorado have resulted in the over going 9-2-1. Toronto is ready to respond after a loss at New York on Sunday that saw the Maple Leafs pepper the Rangers with shots on goal but only 1 of 56 lit the lamp! The Leafs previously had scored an average of 5 goals per game in their 3 prior games and you can see the 1 goal scored against the Blueshirts was truly an aberration. Toronto continues to give huge effort and should be rewarded for that tonight but the Avalanche are likely to match the Leafs goal for goal. Andersen's last two starts against the Avs have resulted in a pair of Colorado wins with the Avalanche averaging 5 goals per victory! The Avs are off a 2-1 loss at Boston but previously Colorado allowed 4.7 goals per game in their 6 prior games. The Avalanche allowed at least 4 goals in all 6 games! Also, prior to the loss to the Bruins, the Avs had scored 3 goals in 3 straight games. Back on home ice and fighting to stay alive in the playoff race, the Avalanche will give a huge effort here. Couple that with the Leafs also coming in off a low-scoring loss where they certainly deserved better and you have the perfect situation for a barn-burner here in a non-conference match-up with end to end action. The over is 7-2 this season when the Avalanche are off a game where they were held to 1 goal or less. You can see that the Avs should respond tonight. As for the Maple Leafs response, Toronto has had 15 losses this season where they allowed 4 or more goals. After the first 14 of those, the Leafs very next game saw them score an average of 4.5 goals per game. In 10 of the 14 games the Leafs scored at least 4 goals and in only 1 of the 14 did the Maple Leafs fail to score at least 3 goals. The set-up here is ideal for a strong offensive output from BOTH hockey club tonight and each will be relentless with pressure and determination in the offensive zone. The point is that their games don't just go over the total, they absolutely crush the posted total. We expect a similar result today because the set-up is perfect here. Both teams are in the 2nd game of a back to back and both were involved in very high-scoring games yesterday and are likely to have some weary legs on defense in this one. The Lightning won 5-4 versus Pittsburgh yesterday while the Panthers won 5-4 at Washington yesterday. The Bolts are 4-1 to the over this season in Sunday games. Also, Tampa Bay is 4-2 to the over this season when playing the 2nd game of a back to back. Florida is 26-16 to the over when revenging a home loss. The Panthers are 10-6-1 to the over this season in divisional games. The Panthers power play is also a red hot 9 for 24 in their last 7 games! Tampa Bay is on a 5 for 15 run on the power play when facing the Panthers. We expect special teams play to contribute well to the total in this one. ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Vancouver at Washington, Tuesday at 7:05 PM ET
Both teams are off low-scoring losses and that actually sets this one up perfectly to be a high-scoring shootout. One of the keys is that the Canucks are in a back to back and their current back-up goalie, Thatcher Demko, got hurt in the morning skate yesterday. That resulted in Vancouver having to call up Mike DiPietro (from Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League) to be the back-up. The Canucks want to avoid using DiPietro if they can help it so Jacob Markstrom is expected to get the start again tonight after having played a full game at Philadelphia last night. Not only is this a back to back situation for Markstrom, he has produced an interesting stat this season. When he plays with 3 or more days of rest between games he is a fantastic 9-1-2 with a 2.04 GAA and .934 save percentage. However, anytime Markstrom plays with 2 or less days of rest he is 10-13-3 with a 3.15 GAA and .897 save percentage. Big difference as you can see and there is also a noteworthy stat relating to Washington's goalie for tonight's game as well. Braden Holtby is 4-9 with a poor .871 save percentage in non--conference games this season. The over is 10-2-1 in his non-conference starts! The over is 14-6-2 in all of the Capitals games against Western Conference opponents this season. Also, the Capitals are 6-0 to the over in Tuesday games this season. Vancouver is 36-22-5 to the over when off a game in which they were held to 1 goal or less. The Capitals are off a 1-0 shutout loss but their 4 prior games not only went over the total, the games averaged a total of 10.5 goals per game. This should be a very entertaining non-conference match-up played at strong tempo Tuesday night. The Canucks Alex Edler injury from last night also leaves their defense short-handed tonight. Bet the OVER in Washington early Tuesday evening.

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: Edmonton at Montreal, Sunday at 2:05 PM ET
Both teams are off overtime losses yesterday. The fact that each team was in action and fell just short Saturday means we can expect a relentless effort from each hockey club as they look to get back on track today. That should lead to plenty of goals in this one Both teams were seeing their first action yesterday since the All Star break. Since this is a back to back, these hockey clubs are likely to start different goalies today than they did yesterday. As a result, don't be surprised is both Carey Price of the Canadiens and Mikko Koskinen of the Oilers are a little rusty between the pipes. Keep in mind, the skaters all saw action yesterday. They are good to go while these goalies are the ones seeing their first game action in well over a week. Advantage to the skaters! The over is 9-4 this season in Edmonton's road games with a total set at 6 or more goals. The over is 15-7 this season in Oilers games against teams with a winning record. The over is 2-1 in the last 3 meetings between these teams and those games have averaged 7 goals. We're expecting at least 7 in this one and the total is set at 6 goals. Bet the OVER in Montreal early Sunday afternoon.

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: Columbus at Winnipeg, Thursday at 8:05 PM ET
Winnipeg is one of the most dangerous teams in the league when on their home ice. The Jets average 4 goals per game when at home. Yes this total is a big one at 6.5 but Winnipeg has allowed 3 or more goals in 16 of their last 19 games and the Blue Jackets should get their 3 tonight but the Jets get at least their typical 4 goals at home and that means this one goes over the total. Columbus has allowed 4 or more goals in 3 of their last 5 games. The most recent meeting between these teams stayed under the total but that was preceded by a run of 4 straight overs in this series and those games averaged 8.5 goals per match-up. We see every reason to believe this one gets to 8 or 9 as well and certainly 7 at a bare minimum. That makes this a strong play for us Thursday night. Bet the OVER in Winnipeg Thursday evening.

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: Buffalo at Dallas, Wednesday at 8:35 PM ET
With yesterday's 5-4 win at Columbus, the O/U is now 7-0 in Buffalo's last 7 games. The Sabres now catch the Stars after a long layoff. Due to the All-Star break, Dallas has not played since the 19th. This can lead to some sloppy play and some turnovers and of course that is what leads to odd man rushes. This total is not only low at 5.5, the juice factor (negative price) is on the under. This has led to an exceptional value on the over. While it is true that the Stars have been trending under, "all bets are off" in terms of that trend still being a factor in their first game back from the break. The Sabres enter this game having scored 3 or more goals in 6 of their last 7 games. The Stars have averaged scoring 5.3 goals per game in their last 3 meetings with Buffalo. The O/U is 6-0 this season for Buffalo when they are entering a game having played each of their 3 prior games on the road. We are taking advantage of a low total in a non-conference match-up that has all the right ingredients to be very entertaining tonight with plenty of scoring. Bet the OVER in Dallas Wednesday evening.

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: NY Islanders at Chicago, Tuesday at 8:35 PM ET
The Islanders certainly trend under under new head coach Barry Trotz as he has been successful in implementing his systems and getting New York to the top of the Metropolitan Division standings. However, this total has dropped from a 6.5 to a 6 and we feel the Blackhawks on home ice are going to have a little something to say about the tempo of this game. Chicago continues to be involved in extremely high-scoring games and we don't foresee that changing in the final game before the All Star break for both the Blackhawks and Islanders. The over is 7-0 in Chicago's last 7 games. The Blackhawks have scored an average of 4.3 goals per game during this stretch. The Islanders, as noted above, have been trending under but they have scored an average of 3.6 goals in the 15 victories during their current 15-3 hot streak. We are forecasting the Islanders OVER to improve to 8-4 the last 12 times they've entered a game off a shutout victory. The Blackhawks are 10-3 to the over this season when off a game that saw them score 4 or more goals. Bet the OVER in Chicago Tuesday evening.

The Canucks have scored 4 or more goals in 6 of their past 10 home games and have averaged scoring 3.5 goals per game during this hot scoring stretch on home ice. ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: NY Islanders at Washington, Friday at 7:35 PM ET
The Islanders are now coached by Barry Trotz. The former Capitals coach left Washington just a few weeks after leading them to the Stanley Cup Championship in June. This will be his first return trip to DC since becoming coach of the Islanders. Suffice to say emotions will be running high and we expect plenty of goals in this one. The Islanders tried to play their "style" when these teams met in New York earlier this season and it did not work out for them as they lost 4 to 1. This game will play out quite differently with more shots on goal and plenty of quality scoring chances. Considering the goaltending situation for this one, those quality chances are likely to lead to plenty of goals. Braden Holtby might finally be back in the crease tonight for the Caps but he is returning from an eye injury and is likely to be a little rusty and not necessarily 100% comfortable yet after taking a stick to the eye recently against Columbus. As for the Islanders netminding situation, they are in the 2nd game of a back to back and that means Thomas Greiss is likely to get the start. He is the back-up netminder for New York and each of his last 4 starts have resulted in games totaling at least 6 goals every single time. The Caps back-up, whom could get the start again tonight here is Phoenix Copley. He has struggled badly in recent appearances. Copley's last 3 starts have resulted in Capitals opponents totaling 14 goals! As we noted above, the prior game this season totaled 5 goals and that resulted in an under. However, the 4 prior meetings went 3-1 to the over with the 3 overs averaging a total of 8.7 goals per game. The Capitals have had 2 days off since wrapping up a 3-game losing streak in which they scored a total of only 4 goals. Washington is hungry to get back on track and will be very aggressive in the offensive zone tonight. The Islanders seek revenge after scoring just 1 goal on their home ice in the first meeting between these teams this season. New York enters this game playing their best hockey of the season. The Islanders have won 13 of their last 16 games and have scored an average of 3.5 goals per game in those 16 games. The Capitals are averaging 3.4 goals per game this season and you can see why the forecast we have for this game is that it will end with no less than 7 goals being scored! Bet the OVER tonight.

ASA 9* PLAY ON OVER: Colorado at Toronto, Monday at 7:05 PM ET
Frederik Andersen is expected to get the start in goal for the Maple Leafs tonight. He most certainly could be rusty. Andersen will be making his first start in over 3 weeks. He was out with an injury and then his return was further delayed by battling with the flu. Facing the loaded top line of the Avalanche (Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen, and Nathan MacKinnon) is not the best way to ease back into action. This is particularly true when the Avalanche are off a rare shutout loss. The Maple Leafs are also low-scoring losses in each of their past two home games. In other words, don't be surprised when both teams are very aggressive tonight in terms of putting pucks on net and the over is 4-0 in the last 4 starts that Andersen has made. As for the Avs, prior to being shutout at Montreal, the over was 4-0 in their past 4 games and Colorado averaged scoring 4.3 goals during this stretch. Toronto, prior to a 3-2 loss versus Boston, had scored 4 or more goals in 14 of their 20 previous games. We look for both teams to score at least 3 goals (if not 4) tonight and that means this game finishes with at least 7 goals. Bet the OVER tonight.

ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Nashville at Columbus, Thursday at 7:05 PM ET
Back-up goalies involved in this one. An unspecified incident involving Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has resulted in him not being with the team for tonight's game. That means Columbus will have Joonas Korpisalo between the pipes. The back-up netminder has an .872 save percentage in 7 home games (5 starts) this season. The over is 4-1 this season in Korpisalo's 5 home starts. The Predators are in the second game of a back to back and Pekka Rinne was in goal for the 4-3 OT win at Chicago last night. That means Juuse Saros gets the call here and the back-up goalie has an .892 save percentage in 11 road games (8 starts) this season. The over is 6-2 this season in Saros' 8 road starts. Overall, 3 of the last 4 meetings between these teams have gone over the total and, as you can see per the above, there is plenty of reason to believe this will be another one that flies over the total. The Blue Jackets are off a shutout loss at Tampa Bay but certainly deserved better in the goal-scoring department. Prior to that scoreless defeat, Columbus had scored 3.6 goals per game in their 7 prior games. Nashville certainly has their goal-scoring prowess shifted back into high gear again! The Preds have scored an average of 4 goals per game in their last 7 games. The over is 25-16-3 when the Predators enter a game on a winning streak of 3 or more games and Nashville is certainly hot again right now! Columbus is 9-5-2 to the over this season when off a game in which they allowed 4 or more goals. With this total set at a 6 and both back-up goalies getting the starts, we're stepping in big on the high side of this total! Bet the OVER tonight.

The Senators have trended over all season and, specifically, the over is 14-3 this season in their road games when the the total is set at 6 or more goals. Additionally, Ottawa's O/U is 11-2 in non-conference games and 18-6 when off a game in which the Sens allowed 4 or more goals. Both the Senators and Ducks enter this game on losing streaks as well as struggling overall this season. That is also noteworthy as Ottawa is 14-3 to the over this season in their games against teams with a losing record. Unlike the Senators, the Ducks have trended under this season, However, Anaheim has entered a game on an under streak of 3 or more games 9 times this season. Of those 9 games only 3 resulted in an under. We look for the Ducks to take advantage of a Sens team that has not been playing well in their own zone. The Senators have allowed 45 goals in their last 10 games - an average of 4.5 goals a game! The Ducks also have struggled in terms of goals allowed as they've allowed 27 goals during their current 8-game losing streak. Both clubs should enjoy a breakout game in their respective offensive zones in this one in Anaheim. Bet the OVER tonight.

ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON OVER: Colorado at Winnipeg, Tuesday at 8:05 PM ET
These are two of the highest scoring teams in the league. These two hockey clubs also are two of the best teams in the league when it comes to the power play. As for the penalty kill, the Avalanche are one of the worst teams in the league. In goal tonight Colorado could have Semyon Varlamov back. However, this would be Varlamov's first start since the calendar hit 2019. Not only could there be some rust but also he is coming back from a lower body injury. That is a tough one for goalies as it effects their lateral movement in the crease and facing the high-powered Jets at Winnipeg is certainly not the ideal match-up for a recovering goalie. Should the Avs decided to stick with Philipp Grubauer, the netminder is off a strong start versus the Rangers but previously allowed 10 goals on just 73 shots in his 3 prior starts. That works out to a poor .863 save percentage. While the Avalanche goal-tending situation is a bit unsettled, they enter this game having scored 10 goals in their past two games. The Jets also can put up goals in a hurry and have scored 5 or more goals in 6 of their last 9 home games! Winnipeg's O/U is 8-3 this season after a divisional game and their O/U is 8-4 this season when they are off a win by a multiple goal margin. Colorado's O/U is 11-6 this season when they are on the road in a game with a total set at 6 or more goals. There is a big O/U of 6.5 set on this game but the firepower of both clubs, the extra rest for the Avs (off since Friday), and the fact the Jets have totaled 11 goals the last two times they've faced Colorado tells you why this game is set up to be a high-flying shootout! Bet the OVER tonight.

As for the Blackhawks, they've had series dominance in this match-up as they've won 9 straight games against Pittsburgh and have scored an average of 4 goals per game in those 9 games. Would a 5-4 game surprise us here? Not in the least! The over is 9-5-1 this season when Chicago is off a non-conference game. Also, the Blackhawks have played 6 games this season with 2 days of rest between contests and only 1 of the 6 have resulted in an under! As for the Penguins, the over is 10-5, including 3-0 this season, when off a shutout win. After blanking the Jets on Friday, don't be surprised when the Blackhawks have the Pens on their heels early in this game before Pittsburgh comes roaring back. The end result? Plenty of goals! The Golden Knights also have revenge against the Kings from a recent 5-1 loss at Los Angeles. This is becoming a rivalry as these teams met in the post-season last year. 6 of the last 7 meetings have stayed under the total. The Kings have stayed under in 4 of 5 road games with a total set at 6 goals or more this season. The Kings have stayed under in 19 of 28 when playing the 2nd game of back to back. 39 of the Kings last 61 divisional games have stayed under the total. Also, 7 of 8 Vegas games this season have stayed under the total when they enter a contest following each of their 3 prior games being on the road. This is a revenge game for the Islanders and 11 of their 16 revenge games this season have resulted in an under. The Islanders have allowed an average of only 2 goals per game in their last 6 games. The Golden Knights have allowed only 2 goals per game in their home games this season. ASA 10* TOP PLAY ON Over the Total - Vegas @ Columbus, Monday at 7:05 PM ET
The Blue Jackets have played well recently but have been stopped by strong goal-tending. Columbus has out-shot their opponents 114 to 77 in their last 3 games but lost 2 of 3. Look for the Blue Jackets to get a break tonight. If Marc-Andre Fluery starts again for the Golden Knights it will not only be a back to back spot, it will also be his 6th start in 10 days! This looks like a spot where back-up goalie Malcolm Subban, whom will be very rusty from a dearth of playing time, is very likely to get the start. Subban = plenty of rust and Fluery = needing of rest. The point is that, either way, Columbus is likely to have a huge night the way they've been putting pucks on net of late. The issue for the Blue Jackets here is that the Golden Knights like to play fast and Vegas has certainly "found their game" again in recent weeks. The Golden Knights have won 10 of their last 13 games and they've scored an average of 4 goals per game in their last 11 games. Vegas is 8-2-1 to the over in those 11 games. In their two games against Columbus (both last season) the Golden Knights got 38 shots on goal in each game. The Blue Jackets enter this game having averaged 38 shots on goal per game their last 3 games. The point is that this match-up should prove to be quite the battle of firepower with plenty of shots on goal in a non-conference match-up with the lamps being lit early and often in this one! Calgary will be ready to bounce back after a 1-0 loss at rival Edmonton on Sunday. Prior to that defeat the Flames had won 9 of their past 11 games and averaged scoring 4.5 goals per game during this run! You can see why we're expecting plenty of goals here as the Flyers have had goal-tending issues all season long. Philadelphia has allowed an average of 4 goals per game their last 9 games so nothing has changed of late and the Flyers are coming off a 7-1 loss at Winnipeg. In terms of productivity at the other end of the ice though Philly did enter that game scoring an average of 3.4 goals per game in their 7 prior games and we do expect them to bounce right back after scoring just 1 goal against the Jets. The over is 10-4 this season in Philadelphia's games against teams with a winning record. Also, the over is 10-2-1 this season in Flames home games with a total set at 6 or more goals. The Capitals could get TJ Oshie back tonight. Even if they don't, Washington's production on offense has already been on a surge and they're going to take advantage of a Red Wings team that is in a back to back spot. Detroit did win 3-1 last night but they allowed 43 shots on goal and now may have to go with their back-up goalie tonight since it is a B2B situation. Washington has won 9 of its last 11 games thanks in large part to averaging 4.2 goals per game during this hot streak. The Red Wings last two games have been rather low-scoring (total of 5 goals in 2 games scored by Detroit) but, prior to this they had scored 4 or more goals in 5 of their 6 previous games. Those 6 games went 5-1 to the over and the Red Wings are 10-5-1 to the over in their last 16 road games with a total set at 6 goals or more. The Lightning are still without injured goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. That is why back-up Louis Dominque has started 11 straight games. However, this is a back-to-back situation (the first during this stretch) and that means the Bolts are in a predicament here. Do they let Dominque start again (he was in goal for last night's win at New Jersey) or do they give the start to Eddie Pasquale? The latter option would mean a journeyman who has spent most of his career in the minors would be getting the start. The former option would mean a goalie not use to going back to back would be doing it plus it would be complicated by the fact that both starts were on the road. Either way we are confident this opens the door for the Red Wings to have a successful night in the offensive zone. The key to the over though is that Detroit is very unlikely to stop this red hot Lightning offensive machine. Tampa Bay has scored 5 goals in 3 straight games and, incredibly, the Lightning have now scored 4 or more goals in 13 of their last 16 games! The over is 9-4-2 in Tampa Bay's last 15 games. The over is a perfect 3-0 this season when the Bolts re plying the 2nd game of a back to back. The Red Wings are off a shutout loss but the over was 3-0 in their 3 prior games as they averaged scoring 4.3 goals per game in those 3 games. The Penguins have scored 4 or more goals in 5 of their last 6 games. Pittsburgh has allowed an average of 3.7 goals per game in its last 4 road games and is currently without their top netminder Matt Murray. These are two of the top power play teams in the league as Pittsburgh is converting on 25% of their power play opportunities and Colorado is converting at a 32% rate with the man advantage this season! Also, on the road the Penguins are 38% and at home the Avs are 27.6% on the power play. Ever since Winnipeg had the two game series with Florida in Laine's native Finland to begin this month, the Jets have been a different team. 8 of Winnipeg's 10 games this month have totaled at least 6 goals. The Jets are scoring an average of 3.9 goals per game this month. Winnipeg has given up 4.3 goals per game their last 4 games. The Penguins have scored 4 or more goals in 4 of their last 5 games. Also, on the road the Penguins are 38% and at home the Jets are 39%. These are phenomenal numbers and Winnipeg had the best home record in the NHL last season and Pittsburgh has had multiple Stanley Cup championships in recent seasons. This one should be quite the battle of firepower with the lamps being lit early and often in this one! Take the OVER tonight.

ASA 9* PLAY ON Under the Total - Columbus @ Detroit, Monday at 7:35 PM ET
The Red Wings have not scored a power play goal in 5 games and, in fact, have scored just 1 time in their their last 19 power play opportunities spanning 8 games! This is a revenge game for the Blue Jackets as they lost 5-3 to Detroit in Columbus in late October. Not only was that game a disappointing effort for Columbus in their own zone, the Jackets are coming off a 4-2 loss at Pittsburgh where coach John Tortorella was not happy with his team's play around their own net. Columbus had previously allowed just 2.3 goals per game in their 8 prior games and they should bounce back with a strong effort in their own zone tonight. The under has gone 8-2-2 in November games for Columbus. The under is also 5-0 in the Red Wings last 5 games and also has cashed in 7 of their last 9. In other words, look for another low-scoring battle here as only 2 of the last 8 meetings between these teams has resulted in an over. Take the UNDER tonight.

ASA 9* PLAY ON Over the Total - Winnipeg @ Vancouver, Monday at 10:00 PM ET
The Jets can't wait to get back on the ice after a disappointing 2-1 home loss to the Sabres on Saturday night in Winnipeg. The Canucks are also off a low-scoring loss which is rare as Vancouver was on a 7-2 run to the over entering that game. The Jets have one of the best power plays in the game, converting at 33.3% this season, while the Canucks have struggled on the penalty kill at 77.8% so far this season. When facing a team with a losing record (Vancouver has lost 12 of 22 this season), Winnipeg has had just 3 unders in 9 games. The Canucks, in home games with a total set at 6 goals this season, have gone 9-4 to the over this season. The Jets have allowed an average of 3 goals per game in their last 3 games played away from Winnipeg. Vancouver has allowed an average of 4.3 goals per game their last 8 games. Take the OVER tonight.

ASA 9* PLAY ON Under the Total - Florida @ Columbus, Thursday at 7:00 PM ET
This match-up features two teams playing very solid hockey right now and limiting their opponents scoring chances. It helps when you have a red-hot goalie between the pipes and that is the case for BOTH teams tonight. The Panthers Roberto Luongo is 4-0 on the season and has been rock solid since he returned from injury. The Blue Jackets Sergei Bobrovsky has held opponents to just ONE goal in 5 of his last 6 starts. Luongo has made 5 starts this season and NONE of the 5 have resulted in an over. Additionally, the Panthers have allowed a total of only 8 goals in those 5 games. Overall, Florida's last 8 games have resulted in 2 pushes and 6 unders. The last 7 games for Columbus have resulted in just 1 over and 6 unders. This looks like a great hockey game for those who love to see solid execution and great goaltending. This one definitely has the makings of a 2-1 type grudge match. Take the UNDER tonight.

ASA PLAY ON 9* OVER: Boston Bruins @ Calgary Flames, Wednesday at 9:35 PM ET
The Bruins have scored at least 4 goals in all 4 games of their current winning streak. The Flames have averaged scoring 4 goals per game during a solid winning run that has seen them win 3 of their last 4 games. All 3 of the starts that Boston's Tuukka Rask has made this season have resulted in an over. Rask has been announced as the starter for tonight's game as Jaroslav Halak is expected to get the start tomorrow night at Edmonton. Calgary is likely to have Mike Smith in the crease for this one. The Flames netminder has seen all but 1 of his 4 starts this season result in an over. Boston's power play has been great this season but their penalty kill has struggled - a perfect recipe for a lot of special teams goals! Bet the OVER in Calgary in late evening action Wednesday.

ASA PLAY ON 9* OVER: Carolina Hurricanes @ Tampa Bay Lightning, Tuesday at 7:35 PM ET
The Hurricanes were rolling with 4 straight wins but then ran into an angry Jets team Sunday and got beat 3-1. The key to the value with the over here is that the Hurricanes had averaged scoring 5.3 goals per game their 4 games prior to running into a fired up Winnipeg hockey club. Now, on Tuesday, the Canes offense should get back on track as they take advantage of facing Louis Domingue, the back-up goalie for the Bolts, in this one. However, Tampa Bay's offense is off of an 8-goal outburst in their most recent game and feeling very confident heading into this home match-up. So, while the Lightning are poised for another big game in the offensive zone, don't be surprised if Carolina answers Tampa goal for goal in this one! The over is 3-1 in the Hurricanes last 4 games. Only 5 of 13 (38%) of Carolina's road games with a total set at 6 or more goals have resulted in an under. The Lightning are 16-9-4 to the over when playing with two days of rest between games. TB is also 19-9-4 to the over in Tuesday games. Bet the OVER in Tampa Bay in early evening action Tuesday.
