Sometimes numbers do not tell the whole story. They can actually tell a completely different story which is definitely the case for the Missouri Tigers. Missouri owns the 16th ranked offense in the country and a respectable defense that is ranked 31st allowing only 104 rushing yards (2.7 yards per rush) per game. But the Tigers actually come into this game with a losing record at 2-3. However, they are much better than that record indicates as their three losses have come against Arizona St, Oklahoma, and Kansas St who have a combined record of 15-1 so far this season. Missouri also had to play all three of those games on the road, yet they only lost by a combined 24 total points. The Tigers feel that they are a much better team than their record and we certainly agree.
Missouri has out-gained every opponent this season with the exception of the Sooners; they lost yardage in that game 592-532. We expect the Tigers to get their balanced offense rolling against an Iowa St defense that is allowing 33 points and 419 yards per game. Missouri

Over the off-season, no one would have thought that the Buffalo Bills would have a better record than the Philadelphia Eagles coming into this game. But that is the case as the Eagles have struggled so far with a 1-3 record while the Bills are off to a quick 3-1 start. And the Eagles are still favored despite the difference in play; reputation is the only reason Philadelphia is laying points in this game. Both teams enter off a loss, but the Eagles had no excuse in blowing a 23-3 lead at home to the 49ers. We can give the Bills a pass for playing a lethargic game in Cincinnati last week after their emotional win over the Patriots the week before.
The Bills have flourished with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and running back Fred Jackson. Fitzpatrick has thrown for over 1,000 yards and he has a 9/3 TD/INT ratio after four games. Jackson is currently fourth in the league in rushing (369 yards on 5.8 yards per rush) and this balance has been a key to the Bills early season success. Philadelphia

Virginia Tech disappointed many last week in their unexpected 23-3 home loss to Clemson. Include us on that list as we thought Virginia Tech was in a good situational spot as they were catching Clemson in their first road game of the season off back-to-back big wins over Auburn and Florida St. However, the Hokies just played a terrible all around game and left Lane Stadium embarrassed in defeat. Virginia Tech failed to score a touchdown at home for the first time since 1995. It was just their 7th home loss since 2003 (44-7); the Hokies are actually a perfect 6-0 ATS at home off a home loss during that time so we anticipate a big bounce back game from Virginia Tech in this spot.
While the Hokies were humiliated in an ugly loss, Miami was feeling good after a 45-14 home win over Bethune-Cookman. However, the Hurricanes 31-point win was hardly impressive, except on the scoreboard. Miami was out-yarded 422-335 in that game and they allowed the Wildcats to run for 219 yards on 4.8 yards per rush. Miami

This is one of the marquee match-ups on Saturday as #6 Oklahoma St travels to College Station to take on #8 Texas A&M. The game is priced as if it will be a close battle, and since both teams come in undefeated, that is probably what most expect. But we do not. We simply feel the Aggies hold significant edges in this game that will allow them to win much easier than projected. Oklahoma St is not a top echelon team in our opinion while we feel Texas A&M is a legitimate team that could very well run the table this season. A&M can get themselves in a showdown game in early November at Oklahoma, but in order for that game to mean something, they must win this game first.
Neither team has played much in the way of competition so far this season. Oklahoma St has won three cupcake games against LA-Lafayette (61-34), Arizona (37-14), and Tulsa (59-33). Texas A&M dismantled SMU (46-14) and Idaho (37-7) in their two games this season. Both teams have been impressive on the scoreboard, but Oklahoma St has been doing it with smoke and mirrors. The righty has allowed just three runs and 16 hits over his last 21 innings which included a stellar effort against Boston. The Yankees have yet to see Alvarez which could cause them issues considering their problems against rookie pitchers in the past. New York is only hitting around .205 in their last eight games. Toronto's bullpen has been solid at home going 19-7 with an ERA around 3.60 this season.
Bartolo Colon is 8-8 with a 3.58 ERA in 23 starts this season. He faced Toronto in New York and he allowed four runs and seven hits over 6.1 innings. Colon's last trip to Toronto was a disaster as he didn't get out of the 1st inning and allowed eight runs and six hits. Jose Bautista (3-9), Yunel Escobar (4-10), Adam Lind (3-11), Travis Snider (2-7) and Eric Thames (2-5) all hit the righty well. Toronto has won six of their last eight games and they have scored at least five runs in five straight contests. Mississippi State suffered a tough 41-34 loss last week at Auburn as the Bulldogs were stopped right at the goal line on the final play of the game. Normally a close loss like this would leave a team flat, however this is less likely tonight since this is a nationally televised weeknight home game against a highly ranked LSU squad. It was also a misleading loss as Mississippi State held a 31-21 first down edge and 531-381 total yard edge last week at Auburn.
This is a big revenge game for Mississippi State after a misleading 29-7 loss at LSU last September as a 7-point road underdog. Miss State actually held a 17-16 first down edge and an overall 268-264 total yard edge. The difference was a 5-1 turnover deficit. Wake Forest and Syracuse had two completely different seasons in 2010. Wake had a dismal year as they went just 3-9 SU (4-8 ATS) while Syracuse went 8-5 SU/ATS and won the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl. But 2011 figures to be different as the Demon Deacons are now an experienced team (17 returning starters) and much improved while the Orange should regress some off their uncharacteristically good 2010. Syracuse basically overachieved last season thanks in part to good health and lucky bounces; just the opposite was true for Wake Forest.

Miami scored just 14 points in the fourth quarter after making just 5 of their 15 shots. Overall, the Heat did not play a good offensive game as they shot just 42.7% (32-75) from the field and an abysmal 14.3% (2-14) from three-point land. The Bulls were the best team in the NBA this season with a 62-20 (.756) SU record and they dominated Game 1 last Sunday night with an easy 21-point blowout win over Miami. Chicago suffered a predictable letdown in Game 2 and we used Miami as a Best Bet winner on Wednesday in their 85-75 outright underdog win. However, the situation now favors Chicago in Game 3 and we get excellent line value with Chicago as a rare underdog as the oddsmakers have adjusted this pointspread nearly 7 full points because the change of venue and because of the Game 2 result.

Oklahoma City was in a solid bounce-back situation in Game 2 on Thursday night and the Thunder handed the Mavericks a rare loss. Despite the setback, Dallas still played well and they actually held an 11-point lead in the game. Overall, the Mavericks have still been the best team in the league over the past month with a fantastic 13-3 SU record and an incredible 15-1 ATS mark. Dallas has been a perfect 5-0 ATS in the playoffs as an underdog this season and they qualify in a solid 60% ATS bounce-back situation in Game 3 this evening.
Dallas played well after their other two playoff losses this season year which both occurred in the opening round at Portland. The Mavericks first loss occurred in Game 3 at Portland and Dallas covered the next game (Game 4) in a misleading 82-84 loss as the Mavericks held a 23-point lead in that defeat. Dallas then responded with an easy 93-82 win in Game 5 in which they lead by 20 points. The Mavericks swept the Lakers in the next round, outscoring the two-time defending champions by +56 points which was an average +14 point margin of victory per game. Dallas then carried that momentum into Game 1 against Oklahoma City in a 9-point win (121-112) in which Dallas led by 16 points, including an 11-point lead entering the fourth quarter.
The value lies with the underdog tonight, especially since Dallas will be extra motivated by a straight-up loss. There is also possible dissention and turmoil on the Thunder after star point guard Russell Westbrook was benched for the entire fourth quarter in Game 2. Back up guard Eric Maynor played well, but Westbrook is one of the most important players in the league and the key reason why Kevin Durant led the league in scoring. If Westbrook and the Thunder are not on the same page tonight, this will be a major blow to the team

It's the start of interleague play for Texas as they begin a series in Philadelphia tonight. Last season he went 1-3 in four starts against the American League, getting touched up by Boston and the Yankees who each saw him many times when he was a member of the Blue Jays. For his career, Halladay is 8-7 with a 5.16 ERA in 20 starts against the Rangers. The last time he faced Texas was April 2009 when he gave up five runs and eight hits in eight innings. The righty has lost two straight to Texas in his career. Michael Young (12-43), Endy Chavez (5-13), Ian Kinsler (6-19), Mike Napoli (3-10), David Murphy (4-8) and Chris Davis (1-3) all have good numbers against the Phillies ace.
C.J. Wilson is 4-2 with a 3.23 ERA in nine starts. The lefty has pitched better on the road where he sports a 2.38 ERA in three starts. Wilson needs to fix his control walking more batters then he struck out in his last two starts. The Phillies have never faced Wilson before as a starter. Raul Ibanez (2-19) has struggled the most against Wilson. Four other batters have seen Wilson before, but none of them have done so more then two times. Philly has scored only 10 runs in their last six games and is hitting around .200 over that span. They are 2-5 in their last seven games with the two victories coming by one run in that span which means they will likely struggled to cover the -1.5 runline in this game tonight.
