# 514 7:30pm Nets – 10
The 2013-14 campaign has been a major disappointment for the Detroit Pistons and their fans - but they've had no trouble handling the Brooklyn Nets. The Pistons look for an unlikely four-game season sweep as they visit Brooklyn in a Friday night showdown. The Pistons are 5 1/2 games out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference following Wednesday's 101-94 loss to Indiana, while the Nets trail Toronto by 2 1/2 games for the Atlantic Division lead. Brooklyn has played well since the All-Star break, but had one of their worst games of the season last time out as they were thumped 110-81 by the rival New York Knicks. That fact and losing three games this season to Detroit will have this Nets team fully focused and they rout the Pistons tonight.

# 702 8pm Thunder – 3.5
The San Antonio Spurs have won a franchise-record 19 straight games to open up a four-game lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top spot in the Western Conference. The Thunder will look to end that winning streak and scratch a game off their deficit in the West when they host the Spurs on Thursday. San Antonio will be playing the second night of a back-to-back but was barely challenged in a 111-90 win over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. San Antonio could have a little more trouble on the defensive end while dealing with Kevin Durant, who is staring down Michael Jordan with his run of 38 straight games of at least 25 points. Durant is averaging 25.7 points in three previous meetings with the Spurs this season. San Antonio had a lot of trouble beating other top teams early in the season and dropped each of the first three meetings with the Thunder, most recently a 111-105 setback on Jan. 22. Oklahoma City comes in pretty hot as well with wins in eight of its last 10 games and had the last three days off to prepare following easy home victories over the Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz. The Thunder make a statement here at home and get the important win.

# 524 10pm Suns – 2.5
The Phoenix Suns face a difficult final stretch as they try to make the playoffs for the first time in four years and that begins Wednesday with a matchup against the visiting Los Angeles Clippers. The Suns had their six-game winning streak come to a grinding halt Sunday in a 115-99 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The loss, coupled with a win by the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, has Phoenix in a tie for the seventh and eighth spots in the Western Conference standings, with Dallas a half-game behind. Phoenix will face a Los Angeles team that will likely be without two of its top three scorers in Blake Griffin and Jamal Crawford, both of whom also missed Monday’s win at the Minnesota Timberwolves. Bledsoe should be fired up to take on his former team, especially after missing 8 of 9 field-goal attempts in the loss to the Lakers. The Suns get the win over a depleted Clippers team.

The Atlanta Hawks' steady slide is coming to a head, and they desperately need a win over the visiting Chicago Bulls on Wednesday try to hang onto the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta snapped a six-game skid by beating lowly Philadelphia on Monday to maintain its one-game edge over New York for eighth place. While the Hawks are just trying to hang on, the Bulls are trying to get a foothold for a climb to the No. 3 seed, for which they're tied with Toronto with eight games left. The Bulls getting the No. 3 seed would prevent them from having to face the top seed until the conference finals. Even if Atlanta can hang onto its playoff spot, it's probably just delaying the inevitable. The Hawks haven't had much offensive punch of late and have been subpar at the defensive end. The Bulls have won five straight meetings including all three this season, beating the Hawks by an average margin of 16.4 points during the streak.

Cross-town rivals looking to continue their respective climbs up the Eastern Conference playoff ladder meet Wednesday when the Brooklyn Nets head to MSG to visit the New York Knicks. Brooklyn won its third straight game Monday — a 105-96 triumph over Houston to clinch a postseason berth and move within 1 1/2 games of fourth-place Chicago and Atlantic Division-leading Toronto in the East. The Nets will have everything to play for to end the season as home court will be on the line in the first round. The Knicks completed a 3-2 road trip with a 92-83 victory at Utah on Monday and have got within a game of Atlanta in the fight for the final playoff spot in the East. Joe Johnson shouldered the load for the Nets with 32 points in Tuesday's win over Houston to continue a solid stretch for the streaky scorer. He has scored at least 14 points in 10 consecutive games while shooting 50 percent or better in seven of those affairs and posting a 61.7 percent mark over his last two. Johnson had 25 points, six rebounds and five assists in Brooklyn's win at New York earlier this year. The Nets get this one close to home.

The Brooklyn Nets seek a franchise-record 14th straight home win Tuesday while the Houston Rockets aim for their 15th consecutive victory over the Nets when they meet Tuesday in a matchup of teams close to clinching playoff spots. The Nets' run at the Barclays Center continued with a 114-99 win over Minnesota on Sunday, matching Oklahoma City's NBA-high 13-game run at home earlier this season. Houston had won five in a row before a 118-107 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, Starters Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley missed the game for Houston with injuries; Howard is most likely out with a left ankle strain and Beverley is out indefinitely with a torn meniscus in his left knee. The Nets Paul Pierce has found the stroke once again, hitting 10-of-14 3-pointers over the course of consecutive 22-point efforts. Sit back and enjoy this Nets victory on TNT.

The Brooklyn Nets can match a franchise record with their 13th consecutive home victory when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. The streak has helped the Nets surge within reach of home-court advantage in a first-round series, as they're 1 1/2 games behind fourth-place Chicago in the Eastern Conference. The Timberwolves technically are still alive in the Western Conference race, but the window is closing quickly — they're 6 1/2 games behind eighth-place Memphis with 11 to play. Brooklyn's 28-12 mark since Jan. 1 is the best in the East over that span, and it's owed in large part to the Nets having won 19 of their last 21 at Barclays Center. The Nets have held opponents under 100 points in 11 straight home games, allowing 91.6 points per game during that span. The Nets are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Timberwolves are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Russell Westbrook is expected to be back in the lineup for the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chicago Bulls on Monday, and it sure looks like they could use him. Westbrook sat out as a precaution on the first night of a back-to-back and the Thunder never got much going on either end in a 109-86 loss at Dallas on Sunday. The Bulls are winners of two straight and are trying to track down the Toronto Raptors for the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference. Chicago absolutely crushed the last Western Conference contender it faced with a 111-87 rout of the Houston Rockets on Thursday but had a little more trouble in Saturday

The Rockets, like Chicago, are looking to move up to third place in their conference. Houston had a five-game winning streak come to an end at Oklahoma City on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game road trip and still needs to travel to Miami after finishing up with the Bulls. Chicago is one of the more physical teams in the league and should slow down the Rockets offense. Chicago has dropped three of its last five games, including two of three to kick off a six-game homestand but will be well prepared for this matchup. I

The Phoenix Suns are trying to avoid falling off the pace in the race for the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference. In order to keep up with the Memphis Grizzlies for that last slot, the Suns are going to have to figure out a way to challenge the Los Angeles Clippers when they continue their road trip on Monday. The Clippers posted the biggest win in franchise history with a 142-94 triumph over the rival Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday and appeared to let their guard down a bit before pulling out a one-point win over the lowly Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. Los Angeles G Jamal Crawford (calf) returned from a three-game absence on Saturday but played only 10 minutes and is expected to sit on Monday. The Phoenix Suns have the NBA's best ATS record at 40-21-1 this season and getting double digits is real value.

The Spurs are just 2-6-1 their last 9 laying points at home. The Magic are now 2-0-1 vs. the points last 3 on the road, and return of leading scorer G Arron Afflalo this week help the Magic in a big way. Brooklyn is playing its best basketball of the season, with an average margin of victory of 16 points during the streak. Memphis has ripped off two straight wins and is also 7-3 in its last 10 but remains outside of the playoff picture in the West, trailing Dallas by one game for the eighth and final spot. Phoenix saw an 11-point advantage disappear in the fourth quarter on Sunday against Houston, snapping a three-game winning streak. History repeated itself Tuesday when Minnesota overcame an eight-point deficit in the final frame to knock off the Suns. Utah snapped a three-game slide on Monday, toppling Boston 110-98 in the return of center Derrick Favors. The Suns got a scare on Tuesday when point guard Goran Dragic left the game with a right ankle injury and he is questionable tonight. Bad spot for the Suns and a good spot for the Jazz.

Two of the league's best teams square off in Portland on Tuesday when the Oklahoma City Thunder come to town for a tilt with the Trail Blazers. Oklahoma City wraps up play before the All-Star break with two road games and though NBA leading scorer Kevin Durant will be the Thunder's lone representative at All-Star Weekend, the team is right where it wants to be heading into the break. Portland is just 3-4 following a 7-2 stretch in January but the Blazers remain in the mix for the top spot in the Western Conference, sitting in third place and trailing Oklahoma City by four games. Durant's monster season continued against the Knicks on Sunday, as he fell just a single assist shy of his third triple-double of the season, finishing with a game-high 41 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. The Thunder are in a good spot tonight.

The Indiana Pacers' killer instinct went missing Sunday in Orlando, but they'll try to rediscover it when they return home to host the Denver Nuggets on Monday. The Pacers, who were unable to put away the lowly Magic in a 93-92 road loss, are looking to avoid losing consecutive games for only the second time this season. They're also trying to avoid their sixth straight loss to the Nuggets, including a 109-96 defeat on Jan. 25 in Denver. The Nuggets have won seven of the last nine meetings in Indianapolis and 15 of the last 18 overall against the Pacers. Indiana has dropped 5 of last 6 spread decisions vs. Western Conference teams. Denver is likely to be without point guard Ty Lawson but I still see them keeping this game somewhat close. Take the large number with the Nuggets.

The San Antonio Spurs own the best record in the Western Conference and are enjoying a six-game winning streak. The Portland Trail Blazers, who visit the Spurs on Friday, sit 1 1/2 games back in second place in the conference and have recovered from a rough patch with three straight victories. The Trail Blazers lead the NBA in scoring at an average of 109.1 points. The Blazers have taken the last three in the series, including a 136-106 rout in their last trip to San Antonio on Mar. 8. Tony Parker is very questionable for the Spurs. I like the points with the road team.

The Golden State Warriors got a well-deserved four-day break after a seven-game road trip and a tough win in their return home on Friday. The Warriors will pick things back up and go for their 12th win in 13 games when they host the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. Denver had a five--game winning streak come to an end with a 118-103 loss at Utah on Monday but still managed to put points up and has hit the century mark in each of its seven games in the New Year. The team averaged 119.6 points during its five-game streak. Golden State can score with any team in the league. The over is 6-1 in Nuggets last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. The over is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings in Golden State.

New York is playing its best basketball of the season. New York's recent resurgence wouldn't be possible without the efforts of Amar'e Stoudemire, who has excelled in his role as a dominant big man off the bench. The Knicks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Knicks are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The Bobcats are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. I see the Knicks keeping it going here on the road vs. a very young Bobcats club.
