04-18-14 | Detroit Red Wings v. Boston Bruins OVER 5 | 1-0 | Loss | -104 | 99 h 32 m | Show
04/18 7:35 PM EST NHL (65) DETROIT RED WINGS VS (66) BOSTON BRUINS Take: High End Ice Total: Detroit/Boston Over the total. The way to play big bad Boston is to skate fast and furious as the Bruins lack speed and can have trouble keeping up with fast opponents. Detroit can do that, a young team that score, on a 7-4-1 run over the total. Of course, the defense is a concern, 16th in goals allowed. Boston is 3rd in the NHL in goals scored and has really improved the power play with its depth, 3rd on the power play. But they struggled with Detroit's speed, losing 3 of 4 games giving up 11 goals the last three meetings. Play Detroit/Boston Game 1 Over the total. |

04/10 7:35 PM NHL (59) NEW YORK ISLANDERS VS (60) MONTREAL CANADIENS
Take: NHL Trend Tracker Total of the Year: New York Islanders/Montreal Under the total. New York has a weak offense, especially away from home where the under is 7-3 in the Islanders last 10 road games. They scored 1 goal the last game in a home loss to Ottawa and now head to Montreal, a powerhouse defensive team. The under is 5-1 in the Islanders last six games playing on 1 days rest and 5-1 under on the road against a team with a winning home record. Montreal is 9th in the NHL in goals allowed, 3rd in penalty killing. They had to play last night, too, so they will have no interest in playing an uptempo game. The under is 13-4-2 in the Canadians last 19 games playing on no days rest. And when Montreal faces a weak team it's all about a slow pace: The under is 31-12-10 when the Canadians face a team with a winning percentage below .400. The offense, though, is weak, 24th in goals scored and the Devils are on a 3-1-2 run under the total. 12/14 10:05 PM EST NHL (23) BOSTON BRUINS VS (24) VANCOUVER CANUCKS
Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: Boston/Vancouver Under the total. A pair of coaches square off here who are ALL about playing defense first. 12/10 9:35 PM NHL (19) BOSTON BRUINS VS (20) CALGARY FLAMES
Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: Bruins/Flames under the total. This is a powerhouse Boston defense, tops in the NHL in goals allowed. Coach Claude Julian is a defensive-first coach, demanding that his wings and center hustle and check back when the other team goes on the attack. The Bruins can struggle at times on offense, especially on the power play, but this defense is ferocious. Boston is on a 2-1-1 run under the total and they face a Calgary team with no offense, 18th in goals scored, 24th on the power play. Calgary is on a 5-1 run under the total, including a 2-1 win at Edmonton the last game. The Stars have dropped four of six, including two straight in a shootout. The Dallas Stars snapped the Chicago Blackhawks' six-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory Tuesday night. The over is 18-6-3 in the Stars last 27 games playing on one days rest, 8-3-1 over the total on the road. Toronto has plenty of firepower, as well, but a middle of the road defense, on a 4-0-1 run over the total. 10/30 10:35 PM NHL (55) DETROIT RED WINGS VS (56) VANCOUVER CANUCKS

The Canadiens took a 2-0 lead in the first period and this time they held on for a 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks Thursday night at the Bell Centre. Montreal is on a 7-2 run under the total and the under is 7-1 in the Canadiens last 8 vs. the Western Conference. Into town comes first place San Jose, 3rd in the NHL in goals allowed and 5th in penalty killing, off a 2-1 loss at Boston. Anaheim doesn't want to go uptempo as it's the second of a back to back spot, and the under is 36-17-3 in Ducks last 56 road games. Anaheim is 11th in the NHL in goals allowed, but has the worst power play on offense. The under is 4-0 in the Ducks last 4 games playing on no days rest. They vastly upgraded the offense the last two years, but still have defensive trouble and the over is 25-10-1 in the Islanders last 36 vs. a team with a winning record. This isn't just any team with a winning record but powerhouse Pittsburgh, 4th in the NHL in goals scored, 8th on the power play with an attacking offense. 10/23 8:05 PM EST NHL (3) BOSTON BRUINS VS (4) BUFFALO SABRES
Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: Bruins/Sabres under the total. Boston prefers a slow tempo game as Coach Claude Julian preaches defense first. The players buy in as this team has been to the Finals two of the last three years. The under is 8-1-2 in the Bruins last 11 vs. the Eastern Conference, 17-6-3 under the total against the Atlantic division. They take on a Buffalo team that is awful on offense, 30th in goals scored with just 1.2 per game. The defense isn't that bad (2.8 goals per game allowed) and the penalty killing is in the Top 10, but the offense and power play are both the worst in the NHL. Boston is No. 1 in the NHL in goals allowed, just 1.4 per game, and second in penalty killing. Tuukka Rask made 23 saves and five different Bruins scored in a 5-0 win against the Lightning. And the under is 6-1-1 in the Sabres last 8 home games. Play the Bruins/Sabres under the total. |
|||||||
10-22-13 | Calgary Flames v. Phoenix Coyotes OVER 5.5 | 2-4 | Win | 106 | 29 h 14 m | Show
10/22 10:05 PM EST NHL (65) CALGARY FLAMES VS (66) PHOENIX COYOTES
Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: Calgary/Phoenix Over the total. Calgary had to play Monday on the road in LA, so rested Phoenix will go uptempo. At least Calgary has a fine offense, 6th in the NHL in goals scored and the over is 6-2 in the Flames last 8 games playing on no days rest. But this defense is awful, 28th in goals allowed, 3.6 per contest. Phoenix hasn't played since Saturday and this offense is terrific, 10th in goals scored, off a 5-2 win over Detroit. Mike Ribeiro scored twice in the third period to help the Coyotes storm back from a 2-0 deficit in the opening frame. The over is 3-0-1 in the Coyotes last 4 home games and when these teams meet the over is 3-1-2 in the last 6 meetings. Play Calgary/Phoenix Over the total. |

Chicago is in the middle of the pack in goals scored, but still awesome on defense, 5th in the league in goals allowed, off a 3-1 win over fast skating Toronto. That's part of a sizzling 7-0 start under the total for the champs! The Blackhawks are on a 21-8-7 run under the total and when these teams meet the under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings, including 4-0 under the total in the last 4 meetings in Florida. 10/19 10:05 PM NHL (23) CALGARY FLAMES VS (24) SAN JOSE SHARKS
Take: 5-Star NHL Powerhouse Total of the Week: Calgary/San Jose Over the total. San Jose is tops in the NHL in goals scored, a whopping 5 per game! The Sharks won't be in a good mood, coming off their first loss, 4-3, to Dallas despite 35 shots. San Jose, which scored eight power-play goals in its first six games, was 0 for 5 against Dallas. The Sharks had entered the game averaging better than 41 shots per game. Calgary comes to town with a terrific offense, 8th in the NHL in goals scored, but a bad defense ranked 25th in goals allowed and 27th in penalty killing. Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: Calgary/Anaheim Over the total. A pair of rested teams who know how to put the puck in the net. Anaheim has home ice and is dynamite on offense, 5th in the NHL in goals scored. Corey Perry scored two goals, Jonas Hiller made 30 saves, and the Ducks beat Bobby Ryan and the Ottawa Senators 4-1 Sunday night for their fourth straight victory with 56 shots! The over is 3-1-3 in the Ducks last 7 vs. the Western Conference. The Ducks are confident and have outscored their last four opponents 17-6. Calgary is just as good, 4th in the league in goals tallied, but they do have defensive problems, 25th in goals allowed and one of the worst penalty killing units in the league. The over is 3-1-2 in the Flames last 6 road games and 2-0-2 over the total in their last 4 games playing on 3 or more days rest. Play Calgary/Anaheim Over the total. |

10/15 8:05 PM EST NHL (15) SAN JOSE SHARKS VS (16) ST. LOUIS BLUES
Take: NHL Total Powerhouse: Sharks/Blues Under the total. A great battle of defensive teams playing great hockey. San Jose is a long way from home and the Sharks are third in the NHL in goals allowed keying that 5-0 start. The under is 15-6-6 in the Sharks last 27 road games and on an 8-1-1 run under the total overall. They take on a powerhouse St. Louis team that is 4th in goals allowed, a powerhouse defensive team, like last year. The under is 10-3-2 in the Blues last 15 home games and 18-6-4 under the total in the Blues last 28 games playing on two days rest. And when these teams meet the under is 14-3-1 in the last 18 meetings in St. Louis, plus 7-3-1 under the total in the last 11 meetings overall. Play St. Louis/Winnipeg Under the Total! |

10-14-13 | Edmonton Oilers v. Washington Capitals OVER 5.5 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 57 m | Show
10/14 7:05 PM NHL (53) EDMONTON OILERS VS (54) WASHINGTON CAPITALS
Take: over the total. Reason: Alex Ovechkin leads a Washington offense that is on a 7-0 run over the total against the Pacific division. But this defense is a concern, 27th in the NHL in goals allowed, 4 goals per game! They come off a 5-1 loss to Colorado and the over is 4-0-1 in Oilers last 7 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. Struggling Edmonton is in town and they are worse defensively allowing 5 goals per game (29th), but the offense is fine ranked 10th in goals scored, on a 6-1 run over the total. All of which will mean a high scoring tilt; Play Edmonton/Washington over the total. |
|||||||
10-10-13 | NY Rangers v. Anaheim Ducks UNDER 5.5 | 0-6 | Loss | -125 | 28 h 48 m | Show
10/10 9:35 PM EST NHL (65) MONTREAL CANADIENS VS (66) EDMONTON OILERS
Take: (65) MONTREAL CANADIENS Reason: The Montreal Canadiens made significant strides last season after jumping from 15th in the East in 2011-12 to second in the lockout-shortened season. They've already shown good balance on the young season, 9th in goals scored, 10th in goals allowed. It's the second of a back to back spot, but so what? The Canadiens are 7-0 in their last 7 games playing on no days rest! They take on a struggling young Edmonton team that is playing no defense, last in the NHL in goals allowed with bad penalty killing. This team has a lot of young talent on offense but it has yet to click, finishing 18th overall in goals scored last year. They've had several days to rest, but come off a home loss to New Jersey allowing a power play goal and a shorthanded goal, continuing to struggle with specialty units. The Oilers are 4-11 in their last 15 overall, 2-7 in their last 9 home games. Play the Montreal Canadiens. 10/10 10:05 PM NHL (69) NEW YORK RANGERS VS (70) ANAHEIM DUCKS Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: NY Rangers/Anaheim Ducks under the total. The NY Rangers may have a new coach, but they are still playing a defensive style behind their outstanding goalie, 10th in the NHL in goals allowed. They are a long way from, 3,000 miles on this road trip, so it's difficult to see this team going to an uptempo skating style in this one. The under is 14-7-5 in the Rangers last 26 vs. a team with a winning record and 31-14-8 under the total against the Western Conference. Anaheim is a fine defensive team and in the offseason they lost winger Bobby Ryan, a mainstay of the Ducks offense the past four full seasons when he scored 131 goals. The under is 8-0-1 in the Ducks last 9 against the Eastern Conference and 23-9-1 under against a team with a winning percentage below .400. This shapes up as a defensive battle; Play the NY Rangers/Anaheim Ducks under the total. |

10-09-13 | Ottawa Senators v. Los Angeles Kings UNDER 5 | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 30 h 46 m | Show
10/09 10:35 PM EST NHL (5) OTTAWA SENATORS VS (6) LOS ANGELES KINGS
Take: NHL Powerhouse Total: Ottawa/Los Angeles Kings under the total. A pair of slow down, defensive teams meet in LA. Ottawa is on a 37-18-11 run under the total. The Senators were 27th in the NHL in goals per game last season for this year it isn't the deepest club up front in terms of finding goals. But the defense is strong all around. In goal, the team is deep with Craig Anderson and Robin Lehner: the former a proven veteran who again was outstanding last season, the latter a rising star in many scouts' eyes. The blue line, led by Erik Karlsson, is as underrated as a group around the league. The under is 8-0-1 in the Senators last 9 vs. the Pacific division. LA has the best goaltender in the game in Jonathan Quick, while coach Darryl Sutter stressed defense. The Kings are difficult to play against on both ends of the ice and boasted top-10 special teams. The under is 13-3-5 in the Kings last 21 home games and when these teams meet the under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings. Play the Ottawa Senators/Los Angeles Kings under the total. |
|||||||
10-05-13 | Detroit Red Wings v. Boston Bruins UNDER 5.5 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 27 h 52 m | Show
10/05 7:05 PM EST NHL (5) DETROIT RED WINGS VS (6) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: Detroit/Boston under the total. Detroit is a fine defensive team and is playing the second of a back to back road spot, at Carolina last night. No need to go uptempo against the deep, talented Bruins. The under is 9-2-7 in the Red Wings last 18 road games. This is a defensive team, anyway, on a 14-4-8 run under the total going back to last season. They head to Boston, a powerhouse defensive team that plays defense first for coach Claude Julien. Boston had some offseason changes, trading away speedy Tyler Seguin, a former All Star and team leader in goals two years ago. But this is still a dominant defensive squad and they play their best D at home. The under is 5-1-1 in Bruins last 7 home games, including two nights ago, a 3-1 win over Tampa Bay. The Lightning went 0-for-5 on the power play, failing to score on a pair of 5-on-3 advantages, while allowing the two short-handed goals. And when these teams meet the under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings, including 6-1 under in the last 7 meetings in Boston. Play Detroit/Boston under the total. |
|||||||
10-04-13 | Ottawa Senators v. Buffalo Sabres UNDER 5.5 | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 28 h 2 m | Show
10/04 07:05 PM NHL (51) OTTAWA SENATORS VS (52) BUFFALO SABRES
Take: UNDER Reason: Ottawa is a slow down, defensive team on a 36-17-11 run under the total. This is their opener and in goal, the team is deep with Craig Anderson and Robin Lehner, the former a proven veteran who again was outstanding last season, the latter a rising star in many scouts' eyes. The blue line, led by Karlsson, is as underrated as a group around the league. The Senators were 27th in the NHL in goals per game last season and 15-5-1 under the total against a team with a losing record. Buffalo is no offensive dynamo, a slow team with little skill, on a 5-2-1 run under the total and 4-1 under the total in the Sabres last 5 home games. Play Ottawa/Buffalo under the total. |
|||||||
10-03-13 | Tampa Bay Lightning v. Boston Bruins UNDER 5.5 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 25 h 48 m | Show
10/03 7:05 PM EST NHL (5) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING VS (6) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: Total: Tampa Bay/Boston under the total. Tampa Bay used to be an all-out offensive team, but that changed in March when Guy Boucher was fired. They played a slower pace and while the defense improved the offenses didn't: The the Lightning finished 26th overall in goals against (3.06 per game). Jon Cooper gets a full season as head coach and has limited offensive weapons to work with. They head to Boston, a powerhouse defensive team that plays defense first for coach Claude Julien. The under is 5-2-1 in the Bruins last 8 games playing on 3 or more days rest. Boston had some offseason changes, trading away speedy Tyler Seguin, a former All Star and team leader in goals two years ago. But this is still a dominant defensive squad and they play their best D at home. And when these teams meet the under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Boston. Play Tampa Bay/Boston under the total. |
|||||||
10-02-13 | Anaheim Ducks v. Colorado Avalanche UNDER 5.5 | 1-6 | Loss | -115 | 51 h 33 m | Show
10/02 9:35 PM EST NHL (55) ANAHEIM DUCKS VS (56) COLORADO AVALANCHE
Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. Reason: Anaheim uses its great defense to complete on the road, 4th in the NHL in goals allowed last year (14-5-5 on the road). The under is 35-14-3 in the Ducks last 52 road games. The offense took a hit this season as the third part of Anaheim's key offensive triumvirate is gone: Bobby Ryan was traded to Ottawa for a few pieces, the most notable of which was Jakob Silfverberg, who joins a youth movement in Anaheim. Naturally, they are well rested and the under is 9-3-3 in the Ducks last 15 games playing on 3 or more days rest. They face a Colorado squad that has little offensive firepower (27th in goals scored last season). The Avalanche got just 4 goals from their blueline in 2013, and they did little to address the corps this offseason, changing up their 7th and 8th defensemen by swapping Shane O'Brien for Cory Sarich and Greg Zanon for Andre Benoit, and that's it. The under is 10-4-2 in the Avalanche's last 16 vs. the Western Conference. And when these teams meet the under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings. Play Anaheim/Colorado under the total. |
|||||||
06-22-13 | Boston Bruins v. Chicago Blackhawks OVER 5 | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 55 h 31 m | Show
06/22 8:05 PM EST NHL (59) BOSTON BRUINS VS (60) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Take: over the total. Reason: Both teams have outstanding offensive weapons and great scoring first and second lines. Chicago was 2nd in the NHL in goals scored this season. Chicago got back to its attacking offense with a 6-5 Game 4 win because of Chicago coach Joel Quenneville's move, reuniting the struggling trio of Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Bryan Bickell. Chicago was first to most pucks, ahead by a step on most shifts. The over is 6-2 in the Blackhawks last 8 Stanley Cup Finals games. Boston Coach Claude Julian has had to shorten his bench in this series to improve the offense and he did it by teaming Tyler Seguin and Chris Kelly on a new No. 3 line that has pair huge dividends. It's a speedy line that has been able to keep pace with the fast Blackhawks and scored the winning OT goal in game 2, plus the first goal in Game 3 and the team exploded for 5 goals the last game. There will be more goals scored in Game 5 than oddsmakers expect. Play the Blackhawks/Bruins Game 5 Over the total. |
|||||||
06-19-13 | Chicago Blackhawks v. Boston Bruins OVER 4.5 | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 30 h 1 m | Show
06/19 8:05 PM EST NHL (57) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS VS (58) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: over the total. Reason: This is a low total for an NHL game, and both teams have outstanding offensive weapons and great scoring first and second lines. Chicago was 2nd in the NHL in goals scored this season. They got 4 in the opener, before getting stymied by the Boston defense (and a lot of posts hit) the last two games. However, the over is 5-2 in the Blackhawks last 7 Stanley Cup Finals games. Boston Coach Claude Julian has had to shorten his bench in this series to improve the offense and he did it by teaming Tyler Seguin and Chris Kelly on a new No. 3 line that has pair huge dividends. It's a speedy line that has been able to keep pace with the fast Blackhawks and scored the winning OT goal in game 2, plus the first goal the last game. There will be more goals scored in Game 4 than oddsmakers expect. Play the Blackhawks/Bruins Game 4 Over the total. |
|||||||
06-07-13 | PITTSBURGH GM4 v. BOSTON GM4 OVER 5.5 | 0-1 | Loss | -100 | 30 h 46 m | Show
06/07 8:05 PM EST NHL (15) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS VS (16) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: Penguins/Bruins Game 4 over the total. Pittsburgh and Boston played a thrilling double OT Game 3, a 2-1 Boston win. There weren't many goals but there were a ton of great scoring opportunities. It's hard to see these teams going 0-for-10 on the power play again! Pittsburgh is now down 0-3, so it's likely they will come out and go to their strength -- attacking offense. They have only 2 goals in 3 games, but fired 54 shots on net the last game and missed a slew of open nets. The over is 7-3 in the Penguins last 10 games playing on one days rest. And there's also a chance Pittsburgh will pack it in on defense, like they did for much of Game 2 knowing the series is over, all of which makes this a great spot for the high scoring contest, like Game 2. Play the Penguins/Bruins Game 4 over the total. |
|||||||
06-05-13 | PITTSBURGH GM3 v. BOSTON GM3 OVER 5.5 | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 27 h 18 m | Show |
6/05 8:05 PM EST NHL (11) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS VS (12) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: NHL Playoff Total of the Year: Penguins/Bruins Game 3 over the total. Pittsburgh won't change its style down 2-0, and that is to use their depth and offensive talent to attack the opposition all game long. They've only scored 1 goal in two games, but had several posts hit and a ton of scoring chances. The over is 4-1 in Penguins last 5 road games. The main problem for Pittsburgh is their defense, which has been exposed. They've used two soft goalies already and have given up 9 goals in two games. Their lack of focus and discipline on defense has been a huge problem, as well, clearly a team that is used to blasting away and beating teams 6-3, not worrying about defense as much. But this Boston team is strong on defense and has plenty of offense, 13th in the league in goals scored. The over is 7-2 in the Penguins last 9 games playing on one days rest and look for more offense and goals than oddsmakers expect. Play the Penguins/Bruins Game 3 over the total. |
|||||||
06-04-13 | Chicago Blackhawks v. Los Angeles Kings UNDER 4.5 | 1-3 | Win | 129 | 30 h 56 m | Show
06/04 9:05 PM EST NHL (9) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS VS (10) LOS ANGELES KINGS
Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. Reason: The series shifts to LA for Game 3 with Chicago in command 2-0. Chicago is strong offensively at home but the under is 9-1-1 in the Blackhawks last 11 road games. They are tops in the NHL defensively, which is a must to have success away from home and Chicago is outstanding on the road. LA comes home, a dominant defensive team behind goalie Jonathon Quick where they've won 14 in a row. LA is on a 17-6-6 run under the total and 4-1 under the total in the Kings last 5 home games. And when these teams meet the under is 34-16-7 in the last 57 meetings, including 5-2 under the total in the last 7 meetings in Los Angeles. Play the Blackhawks/Kings Game 3 under the total. |
|||||||
06-01-13 | Los Angeles Kings v. Chicago Blackhawks UNDER 5 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 51 h 49 m | Show
06/01 5:05 PM EST NHL (3) LOS ANGELES KINGS VS (4) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. Reason: A pair of dynamite defensive teams mee as the LA Kings and Black Hawks play in Chicago for Game 1. For just the second time in NHL history, the final four teams remaining in the playoffs are the four most recent Stanley Cup winners. Chicago captured the Cup in 2010 and LA last season. The LA Kings play great defense behind goalie Jon Quick, 10th in goals scored, 7th in goals allowed, 10th PP, 10th in penalty killing. The under is 7-0-2 in Kings last 9 road games and 12-2-3 under the total in Kings last 17 vs. a team with a winning record. Chicago is 2nd in goals scored (3.1), but also tops in goals allowed (2 pg) during the regular season, 3rd in penalty killing. They are on a 9-3-5 run under the total and the under is 7-2-2 in the Blackhawks last 11 games playing on 2 days rest. And when these teams meet the under is 33-15-7 in the last 55 meetings, including 19-6-3 under the total in the last 28 meetings in Chicago. Play the LA Kings/Black Hawks Game 1 Under the Total. |
|||||||
05-29-13 | Detroit Red Wings v. Chicago Blackhawks UNDER 5 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 29 h 40 m | Show
05/29 8:05 PM EST NHL (71) DETROIT RED WINGS (72) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Take: Under the Total. Reason: It's Game 7 with everything at stake, which means a cautious, defensive approach to start the game. Both teams are sensational defensively anyway, with the Red Wings 5th in the NHL in goals allowed, but 19th in goals scored. Detroit is on a 13-5-8 run under the total and the under is 20-8-8 in the Red Wings last 36 games playing on 1 days rest. One of the reasons why Detroit failed to close out this series is a lack of offensive production from the team's top-six forwards. Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen, who finished first, second and third on the team in scoring during the regular season, respectively, have struggled. In Games 5 and 6, these three forwards combined for zero goals and two assists. Chicago is even better on defense, tops in the NHL in goals allowed on an 8-3-5 run under the total. The under is 19-6-4 in the last 29 meetings between these teams, including 7-1-4 under the total in the last 12 meetings in Chicago. Play the Red Wings/Black Hawks Game 7 Under the Total. |
|||||||
05-22-13 | Pittsburgh Penguins v. Ottawa Senators UNDER 5.5 | 7-3 | Loss | -123 | 54 h 60 m | Show
05/22 7:35 PM EST NHL (27) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS VS (28) OTTAWA SENATORS
Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. Reason: Pittsburgh won in Games 1 and 2, 4-1 and 4-3, and it's clear Ottawa doesn't have the offensive firepower to get into a shootout with the Penguins. So they went to their strength in Game 3, slowing the pace down, and pulled out a 2-1 win in OT. Ottawa is 27th in the NHL in goals scored and 20th on the power play. Their game is to slow it down to a crawl, 2nd in the NHL in goals allowed and tops in penalty killing. The Senators went 0 for 5 on the power play in Game 1 and are just 2 for 22 with the man advantage against Pittsburgh this season. Pittsburgh is also terrific on defense, 12th in the league in goals allowed. Ottawa improved to 3-0 at home in this postseason where they play their best defense and look for another low scoring battle. Play Ottawa/Pittsburgh Game 4 Under the Total. |
|||||||
05-20-13 | CHICAGO GM3 v. DETROIT GM3 UNDER 5 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 18 h 5 m | Show
Game 3 of the NHL Western Semifinals has the Red Wings and Blackhawks knotted at 1-1. Very little argument that the Hawks where the best team through the abbreviated regular season. Still, these clubs are no strangers and we can expect a hard fought series between two of the original six. So far game one and two have been pretty much the same with each club taking a 4-1 win and pushing the total. But tonight, I'm looking at the over here as they move to Detroit. These clubs have played six times this year and the over is 1-3-2. In fact, this has been an under series in recent years, evidenced by the 6-17-3 O/U/P mark the last 26 meetings. The RedWings are 5-13-8 O/U their last 26 games and Chicago is 0-7-1 in their last eight road games. Both goalies have been excellent with Detroit netminder Jimmy Howard posting a 5-4 playoff record and 2.58 GAA. Corey Crawford has been excellent for the Hawks, posting a 5-2 postseason mark with a 1.64 GAA. These clubs usually play a very physical game and their history has shown these are not high scoring matchups. I'm sticking with that here on Monday and going UNDER.

05-18-13 | DETROIT GM2 v. CHICAGO GM2 OVER 5 | 4-1 | Push | 0 | 46 h 14 m | Show
05/18 1:05 PM EST NHL (13) DETROIT RED WINGS VS (14) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Take: over the total. Reason: Detroit is off a grueling Game 7 win out West and now travels to mighty Chicago for the first two games, losing Game 1, 4-1. The Blackhawks found what they were looking for in Game 1 against the Red Wings -- some much-needed intensity. The Blackhawks outshot the Red Wings, 17-5, in the second and 43-24 for the game. Goalie Jimmy Howard had 38 stops in a terrific performance, but Detroit still lost to rival Chicago for the eighth straight time dating to last season, but look for Chicago to score more this game. Detroit has not gone under the total the last 5 games, allowing 4, 2, 3, 3, 2 and 4 goals, while scoring 13 goals the last 5 games. Chicago can play any style and has scored 19 goals the last 5 games. The over is 6-2-4 in the Blackhawks last 12 home games. Play the Red Wings/Black Hawks Game 2 over the total. |
|||||||
05-17-13 | Ottawa Senators v. Pittsburgh Penguins UNDER 5.5 | 3-4 | Loss | -117 | 52 h 25 m | Show
05/17 7:35 PM EST NHL (11) OTTAWA SENATORS VS (12) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. Reason: Pittsburgh rolled in Game 1, 4-1, and it's clear Ottawa doesn't have the offensive firepower to get into a shootout with the Penguins. Ottawa is 27th in the NHL in goals scored and 20th on the power play. Their game is to slow it down to a crawl, 2nd in the NHL in goals allowed and tops in penalty killing. The Senators went 0 for 5 on the power play in Game 1 and are just 1 for 17 with the man advantage against Pittsburgh this season. Pittsburgh is also terrific on defense, 12th in the league in goals allowed. Play Ottawa/Pittsburgh Game 2 Under the Total. |

05/15 8:05 PM EST NHL (7) DETROIT RED WINGS VS (8) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Take: over the total. Reason: Detroit is off a grueling Game 7 win out West and now travels to mighty Chicago. They will be tired and look for the Blackhawks to attack all game long. Detroit has not gone under the total the last 4 games, allowing 4, 2, 3, 3 and 2 goals, while scoring 12 goals the last 4 games. Chicago can play any style and is second in the NHL in goals scored, off a 5-1 win over Minnesota. Chicago has scored 15 goals the last 4 games. The over is 6-2-3 in the Blackhawks last 11 home games and 3-1-1 over the total playing on 3 or more days rest. Play the Red Wings/Black Hawks Game 1 over the total. |
|||||||
05-09-13 | NY Islanders v. Pittsburgh Penguins OVER 6 | 0-4 | Loss | -104 | 30 h 59 m | Show
05/09 7:05 PM EST NHL (35) NEW YORK ISLANDERS VS (36) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Take: NHL Playoff 1st Round Total of the Year: Penguins/Islanders Game 5 over the total. New York had a strong turnaround this season because of an improved offense, 7th in the NHL in goals scored. But they can't stop anyone, 21st in goals allowed and in penalty killing. That's been evident in this series, a 5-4 home loss on Sunday in Game 3 and a 6-4 win in Game 4. Pittsburgh is even better on offense with Sidney Crosby back. Pittsburgh trailed 2-0 in Game 3 just 5:41 in but rallied to lead 3-2 before the first period was over. The over is 17-5-1 in the Islanders last 23 vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600. If there's any weakness with the Penguins, though, it's with young goalies, ranked 12th in goals allowed and only 25th in penalty killing. The over is 34-15-3 in the Penguins last 52 vs. a team with a losing record. And when these teams meet the over is 8-3-1 in the last 11 meetings, including 5-0-1 over the total in the last 5 meetings in New York. Play the Penguins/Islanders Game 5 over the total. |

05/07 7:05 PM EST NHL (19) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS VS (20) NEW YORK ISLANDERS
Take: NHL High Roller Ice Smasher: Penguins/Islanders Game 4 over the total. New York had a strong turnaround this season because of an improved offense, 7th in the NHL in goals scored. But they can't stop anyone, 21st in goals allowed and in penalty killing. That's been evident in this series, off a 5-4 home loss on Sunday in Game 3. Pittsburgh is even better on offense with Sidney Crosby back. Pittsburgh trailed 2-0 just 5:41 in but rallied to lead 3-2 before the first period was over. The over is 16-5-1 in the Islanders last 22 vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600. If there's any weakness with the Penguins, though, it's with young goalies, ranked 12th in goals allowed and only 25th in penalty killing. The over is 33-15-3 in the Penguins last 51 vs. a team with a losing record. And when these teams meet the over is 7-3-1 in the last 11 meetings, including 4-0-1 over the total in the last 5 meetings in New York. Play the Penguins/Islanders Game 4 over the total. |

05-01-13 | Toronto Maple Leafs v. Boston Bruins OVER 5 | 1-4 | Push | 0 | 52 h 45 m | Show
05/01 7:05 PM EST NHL (57) TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS VS (58) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: High Roller NHL Total: Maple Leafs/Bruins Over the total in Game 1. Boston can play any style, with an offense that is 13th in goals scored. Into town for Game 1 comes Toronto, a team that is all about going uptempo, 6th in the NHL in goals scored but 17th in goals allowed. They will attack young Boston goalie Tukka Rask, who has struggled at times against good teams and in pressure situations. Boston won the Cup 2 years ago but that was with the amazing Tim Thomas in net, and he's gone. The over is 11-5-3 in the Maple Leafs last 19 Conference Quarterfinals games. When these rivals meet the over is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings, including 12-4 over the total in the last 16 meetings in Boston. Play the Maple Leafs/Bruins Over the total in Game 1. |

04-25-13 | Tampa Bay Lightning v. Boston Bruins UNDER 5.5 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 28 h 17 m | Show
04/25 7:35 PM EST NHL (21) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING VS (22) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. Reason: Tampa Bay has slowed the pace down under their new coach, a change made a month ago. The under is 4-0 in the Lightning's last 4 vs. the Northeast. They take on a Boston team that is all about slowing the pace down, 3rd in the NHL in goals allowed and 2nd in penalty killing. Boston has a shot at a division title and loves to focus on defense first for conservative Coach Claude Julian, who roles 4 lines and has one of the weakest power plays in the league (24th). Boston is on a 15-5-4 run under the total and the under is 7-0-2 in the Bruins last 9 home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400. Play Tampa Bay/Boston under the total. |
|||||||
04-18-13 | Washington Capitals v. Ottawa Senators UNDER 5.5 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 29 h 30 m | Show
04/18 7:35 PM NHL (57) WASHINGTON CAPITALS VS (58) OTTAWA SENATORS
Take: NHL Total of the Year: Capitals/Senators under the total. Everything is clicking for Washington right now, on a terrific win streak, and that includes defense. The under is 15-6-5 in the Capitals last 26 vs. a team with a winning record and 19-6-4 under the total on the road against a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600. They face an Ottawa team that is all about slowing the pace down, 23rd in goals scored, but 2nd in the NHL in goals allowed and penalty killing. It's why they are so good at home (14-3-3). The under is 18-4-7 in the Senators last 29 home games and 30-12-10 under the total overall! And when these teams meet the under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings. Play the Capitals/Senators under the total. |
|||||||
04-17-13 | Montreal Canadiens v. Pittsburgh Penguins UNDER 5.5 | 4-6 | Loss | -127 | 28 h 59 m | Show
04/17 7:05 PM EST NHL (1) MONTREAL CANADIENS VS (2) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Take: NHL Total of the Month: Montreal/Pittsburgh under the total. Montreal has a terrific defense, 6th in the NHL in goals allowed. The Canadiens are on a 9-5 run under the total. Montreal has plenty to play for, one of two Eastern Conference teams to already have clinched a postseason berth, and they own a one-point lead in the division over the Boston Bruins. Pittsburgh can also play great defense, 9th in the NHL in goals allowed. The Penguins are well rested, not having played since Saturday, a 3-1 win over Florida, another game under the total. That is part of a 12-3-1 run under the total for Pittsburgh. And the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Pittsburgh. Play the Canadiens/Penguins under the total. |
|||||||
04-06-13 | Boston Bruins v. Montreal Canadiens UNDER 5 | 1-2 | Win | 105 | 30 h 38 m | Show
04/06 7:05 PM NHL (61) BOSTON BRUINS VS (62) MONTREAL CANADIENS
Take: UNDER Reason: A pair of defensive teams meet north of the border as rivals Boston and Montreal battle it out. Boston is 3rd in the NHL in goals scored and tops in penalty killing. Tuukka Rask stopped 40 shots for his third shutout of the season on Thursday night as Boston beat the New Jersey Devils 1-0. Boston is all about rolling 4 lines and playing defense first under conservative coach Claude Julian. Boston is on a 19-7-3 run under the total and the under is 12-3-2 in the Bruins last 17 road games. Montreal has been strong and healthy in a bounce back season, a physical team that gives the Bruins fits, drawing penalties. They also have great balance, 7th in the NHL in goals allowed, off a 4-1 win over Winnipeg. The under is 39-15-3 in the Canadiens last 57 Saturday games and 5-0 under the total in their last 5 home games. Play the Bruins/Canadiens under the total. |

03-28-13 | NY Rangers v. Ottawa Senators UNDER 5 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 29 h 39 m | Show
03/28 7:35 PM EST NHL (7) NEW YORK RANGERS VS (8) OTTAWA SENATORS
Take: High Roller Ice Total: NY Rangers/Ottawa under the total. Both teams prefer playing defense first. The NY rangers defense is outstanding, 4th in the NHL in goals allowed, on a 6-1-4 under the total. NY is on a 26-10-15 run under the total and the under is 17-6-11 in the Rangers last 34 games playing on one days rest. Ottawa is tops in the NHL in goals allowed, but 22nd in goals scored, preferring a slow, defensive style, 2nd in the NHL in penalty killing. The under is 15-4-7 in the Senators last 26 home games. Ottawa is short on depth with all their injuries and will play a real slow pace against the Rangers, who like that style, too. The under is 31-12-9 in the last 52 meetings, including 8-2-7 under in the last 17 meetings in Ottawa. Play the NY Rangers/Ottawa under the total. |
|||||||
03-26-13 | BUF SABRES v. TB LIGHTNING OVER 5.5 | 1-2 | Loss | -123 | 27 h 19 m | Show
03/26 7:35 PM EST NHL (9) BUFFALO SABRES VS (10) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
Take: NHL High Roller Total: Sabres/Lightening over the total. Buffalo has trouble on defense, 26th in goals allowed and penalty killing. That will be a tough matchup against a Tampa Bay skilled offense that is 3rd in goals scored. At least the Buffalo offense is better, scoring 10 goals the last three games (all wins). The over is 5-1-1 in the Sabres last 7 games following a win and 36-16-5 over the total playing on 2 days rest. Tampa Bay is playing its first home game after firing coach Guy Boucher Monday. Assistants Martin Raymond and Dan Lacroix share the coaching duties for Tampa. There's nothing wrong with the offense, though the defense is 25th in goals allowed and the over is 51-23-4 in the Lightning's last 78 vs. the Eastern Conference. And when these teams meet the over is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings. Play Buffalo/Tampa Bay over the total. |
|||||||
03-23-13 | Boston Bruins v. Toronto Maple Leafs OVER 5.5 | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 29 h 23 m | Show
03/23 7:05 PM EST NHL (59) BOSTON BRUINS VS (60) TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS
Take: NHL Powerhouse Ice Total: Bruins/Maple Leafs over the total. Boston has plenty of offensive punch, 12th in goals scored, and faces a Toronto defense that is soft ranked 17th in goals allowed. Toronto is on a 10-1-2 run over the total and 10-1-2 over in the Maple Leafs last 13 games vs. the Eastern Conference. And when these rivals meet it's been ALL about offense, with the over 21-8-1 in the last 30 meetings, as well as 4-1 over the total in the last 5 meetings in Toronto. Play the Bruins/Maple Leafs over the total. |
|||||||
03-21-13 | BOS BRUINS v. OTT SENATORS UNDER 5 | 2-1 | Win | 106 | 29 h 48 m | Show
03/21 7:35 PM NHL (59) BOSTON BRUINS VS (60) OTTAWA SENATORS
Take: NHL High Roller Total: Boston/Ottawa under the total. A pair of dynamite defensive teams meet in Ottawa. Ottawa plays at a slow pace because of injuries and depth concerns with the top defense in the NHL allowing 2 goals per game along with the No. 2 ranked penalty killing unit. Ottawa is on a 20-8-8 run under the total and struggles on offense, 25th in goals scored. The under is 15-4-7 in the Senators last 26 home games. The Bruins like to play a defensive-oriented style for Coach Claude Julian, tops in the NHL in penalty killing and 3rd in goals allowed. Boston is on a 6-0-1 run under the total and the under is 54-22-8 in Bruins last 84 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600. And when these teams meet the under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings. Play Boston/Ottawa under the total. |
|||||||
03-19-13 | Boston Bruins v. Winnipeg Jets OVER 5.5 | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 28 h 51 m | Show
03/19 8:05 PM EST NHL (63) BOSTON BRUINS VS (64) WINNIPEG JETS
Take: over the total. Reason: First place Winnipeg has home ice but is a .500 home team and for the season they've been outscored. They are weak on defense, 19th in goals allowed, and 24th in penalty killing. They face a powerhouse Boston team off a tough 2-1 loss at Pittsburgh Sunday, their second meeing with Pittsburgh in 4 games (2-2). They played a tight, defensive game against the explosive Pittsburgh offense, but can get back to focusing on offense more against the soft Winnipeg defense. Boston has plenty of offensive talent and has had a day to catch their breath after playing 3 games in 4 days. The over is 17-6-3 in the Bruins last 26 in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation. Boston exploded for 4 goals each in its previous two wins and will bust out here. Play the Bruins/Jets over the total. |
|||||||
03-16-13 | Carolina Hurricanes v. Tampa Bay Lightning OVER 6 | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -100 | 29 h 19 m | Show |
03/16 7:05 PM EST NHL (13) CAROLINA HURRICANES VS (14) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
Take: Southeast Division Total of the Year: Carolina/Tampa Bay over the total. Division games often mean intense defense -- but not with these teams. Carolina is 5th in the NHL in goals scored, but in the middle of the pack defensively. The over is 4-1 in the Hurricanes last 5 games playing on one days rest. They take on an even better offensive team, attacking Tampa Bay ranks second in goals scored and 9th on the power play, but 25th in goals allowed as they focus solely on the offensive end. They are on a 23-11-2 run over the total and the over is 52-25-4 in the Lightning's last 81 home games. And when these team meet the over is 15-5-1 in the last seven meetings, including a perfect 7-0 over in the last 7 meetings in Tampa Bay. Play Carolina/Tampa Bay over the total. |
|||||||
03-12-13 | Tampa Bay Lightning v. Florida Panthers OVER 5.5 | 3-2 | Loss | -133 | 28 h 34 m | Show
03/12 7:35 PM NHL (9) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING (10) FLORIDA PANTHERS
Take: SouthEast Division Total of the Year: Tampa Bay/Florida over the total. A pair of division rivals from Florida meet and when they battle it has been ALL about offense, 4-0 over the last four meetings and 18-7-1 over the total in the last 26 meetings in Florida. Tampa Bay is all about attacking on offense, second in the NHL in goals scored, but 27th in goals allowed. The over is 20-7 in the Lightning's last 27 road games and a 56-26-2 run over the total overall. Florida is terrible on defense, 30th in goals allowed and penalty killing! The over is 5-1 in the Panthers last 6 games playing on one days rest. Play Tampa Bay/Florida over the total. |
|||||||
03-09-13 | MON CANADIENS v. TB LIGHTNING OVER 5.5 | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 28 h 2 m | Show
03/09 7:05 PM EST NHL (63) MONTREAL CANADIENS VS (64) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
Take: over the total. Reason: Two of the best offensive teams in the NHL square off. Montreal is 5th in the league in goals scored and off a 4-2 win over Carolina. Montreal is on a 5-0 run over the total and the over is 4-0 in the Canadiens last 4 road games. Tampa Bay has an attacking style, second in the NHL in goals scored, but 26th in goals allowed. The over is 49-19-2 in the Lightning last 70 against the Eastern Conference and 51-24-4 over the total in their last 79 home games. Look for a fast paced shootout; Play Montreal/Tampa Bay over the total. |
|||||||
03-06-13 | Colorado Avalanche v. Chicago Blackhawks UNDER 5.5 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 27 h 53 m | Show
03/06 8:05 PM EST NHL (3) COLORADO AVALANCHE VS (4) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Take: NHL Oddsmaker Error Total of the Month: Avalanche/Blackhawks Under the total. Chicago has been the buzz of the NHL world with their hot start anchored by this brilliant defense, tops in the NHL in goals allowed and this in penalty killing. It's the second of a back to back spot for both teams, and the under is 8-3 in the Blackhawks last 11 games playing on no days rest and 10-2-1 under the total in their last 13 home games. Colorado was at Detroit last night, so there's no need to play an attacking, offensive game. They don't do that anyway, 23rd in the NHL in goals scored and 29th on the power play. The under is 4-1 in the Avalanche's last 5 in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation and 7-3-1 under the total playing on no days rest. Look for far more defense than oddsmakers are projecting; Play the Avalanche/Blackhawks Under the total. |
|||||||
02-28-13 | OTT SENATORS v. BOS BRUINS UNDER 5 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 26 h 24 m | Show
02/28 7:05 PM EST NHL (5) OTTAWA SENATORS VS (6) BOSTON BRUINS
High Roller NHL Ice Total: Ottawa/Boston under the total. Two dynamite defensive teams meet in Boston. Ottawa is all about slowing the pace down, 26th in the NHL in goals scored, 2nd in goals allowed. Ben Bishop turned aside 44 shots in regulation and overtime and Peter Regin scored in the fifth round of the shootout, lifting the Senators to a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday. The under is 8-2-1 in the Senators last 11 road games. They won't be getting into a track meet with the talented Bruins. Boston plays defense first under coach Claude Julien, which is why their power play (again) has disappointed, 25th in the league. But Boston is dominant on defense, 6th in goals allowed with the No. 1 penalty killing unit. And the under is 8-2-2 in the Bruins last 12 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days. Play Ottawa/Boston under the total. |
|||||||
02-22-13 | VAN CANUCKS v. NASH PREDATORS UNDER 5 | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 29 h 1 m | Show
02/22 8:05 PM NHL (3) VANCOUVER CANUCKS VS (4) NASHVILLE PREDATORS
Take: NHL High Roller Total: Vancouver/Nashville under the total. Vancouver is on a road trip, playing last night, and their defense is outstanding, 6th in the NHL in goals allowed. The under is 3-0-2 in the Canucks last 5 games playing on no days rest and 10-1-5 under in their last 16 road games. They take on a Nashville team that is all about slowing the pace down, 5th in the league in goals allowed, 12-4-1 under the total. The under is 10-2-3 in the Predators last 15 home games so look for a game at a slow pace with far fewer goals than oddsmakers expect. Play Vancouver/Nashville under the total. |
|||||||
02-19-13 | WINNIPEG JETS v. BUFF SABRES OVER 5.5 | 2-1 | Loss | -116 | 28 h 17 m | Show
02/19 7:05 PM EST NHL (51) WINNIPEG JETS VS (52) BUFFALO SABRES
Take: High Roller NHL Total: Jets/Sabres over the total. A pair of weak defenses meet in Buffalo. Winnipeg is 25th in the NHL in goals allowed and 30th at killing penalties. The over is 16-5-2 in the Jets last 23 games playing on one days rest. Buffalo is worse, 26th in the NHL in goals allowed with a below average penalty killing unit. At least the new-look Sabres have upgraded their offense, 11th in goals allowed, which they showcased over the weekend in an impressive 4-2 comeback win over the defensive-minded and talented Bruins. Buffalo outshot the Bruins 10-3 in the third period where they scored 3 goals. Buffalo is on an 8-3 run over the total, the over is 5-1 in the Sabres last 6 home games and the over is 8-3 against the Eastern Conference. And what happens when these defenseless teams meet? The over is 6-2-2 in the last 10 meetings in Buffalo. Play the Jets/Sabres over the total. |
|||||||
02-16-13 | Anaheim Ducks v. Nashville Predators UNDER 5 | 3-2 | Push | 0 | 25 h 22 m | Show
02/16 8:05 PM EST NHL (11) ANAHEIM DUCKS VS (12) NASHVILLE PREDATORS
Take: Inner Circle Total: Ducks/Predators under the total. A long road trip of Anaheim, but they can rely on their defense, which we saw in a 3-2 win at Chicago this week. The under is 4-1 in Ducks last 5 road games and 15-5-1 under the total against a team with a winning record. In fact, the under is 36-15-2 in the Ducks last 53 overall, so they are strong on defense wherever they play. Nashville is all about playing a slow paced game, ranked 30th in scoring but tops in the NHL in goals allowed, just 1.6 per game. They come off a 3-0 win over Phoenix, a game that was 0-0 in the third as Pekka Rinne made 19 saves for his second consecutive shutout. Nashville is on a 19-5-3 run under the total and the under is 35-17-8 in the Predators last 60 vs. the Western Conference. And when these teams meet the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. Play the Ducks/Predators under the total. |
|||||||
02-16-13 | Tampa Bay Lightning v. Florida Panthers OVER 5.5 | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 20 h 23 m | Show
02/16 3:05 PM EST NHL (7) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING VS (8) FLORIDA PANTHERS
Take: NHL Total of the Month: Tampa Bay/Florida over the total. Tampa Bay plays an attacking offense and faces a terrible Florida defense, one ranked 30th in goals allowed and 25th in penalty killing. The over is 4-0-1 in Panthers last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400. Tampa Bay is on a 4-0 run over the total with the top offense in hockey, scoring 49 goals. But after a surprisingly good start defensively, they've started to slip, now ranked 22nd in goals allowed and 17th in killing penalties. Tampa Bay is on a 49-22-1 run over the total and the over is 13-4 in the Lightning's last 17 road games. And when these teams meet the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings, plus the over is 14-5 in the last 19 meetings in Florida. Play Tampa Bay/Florida over the total. |
|||||||
02-15-13 | ANA DUCKS v. DET RED WINGS UNDER 5.5 | 5-2 | Loss | -123 | 26 h 37 m | Show
02/15 7:35 PM NHL (57) ANAHEIM DUCKS VS (58) DETROIT RED WINGS
Take: NHL High Roller Total: Anaheim/Detroit Under the total. A marquee matchup between two outstanding teams, both with excellent defenses. Anaheim showcased the defense the last game, a 3-2 win at the Blackhawks, improving the team to 3-1 on its season-high, six-game road trip. The under is 15-5-1 in the Ducks last 21 vs. a team with a winning record and 9-0 under the total playing on 2 days rest. Detroit is 9-3-2 under the total at home where they play their best defense. Despite a rash of injuries to start the season, the Red Wings' defense actually has stabilized and played well in recent games, benefiting from a tighter style, which makes life easier for the defensemen. Coach Mike Babcock said this week, "Protecting the defense has to be the focus, for sure. We have to help everybody, that's what a team is." The under is 7-2-2 in the Red Wings last 11 games playing on one days rest. And when these teams meet the under is 38-18-5 in the last 61 meetings, including 19-7-2 under the total in the last 28 meetings in Detroit. Play the Ducks/Red Wings under the total. |
|||||||
02-14-13 | WAS CAPITALS v. TB LIGHTNING OVER 5.5 | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 26 h 18 m | Show
02/14 7:35 PM EST NHL (7) WASHINGTON CAPITALS VS (8) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
Take: NHL High Roller Total of the Week: Washington/Tampa Bay over the total. Washington hasn't been able to play any defense on the road and the Over is 5-1 in Capitals last 6 vs. the Southeast division. That included a 6-3 loss in the opener against this Tampa Bay team in this arena, 6-3. Washington is 27th in the NHL in goals allowed and penalty killing. Tampa Bay runs an attacking offense, tops in the NHL in goals scored, though 21st in goals allowed paying little attention to defense. They have the No. 2 power play in the league. The Over is 10-1-1 in the Lightning's last 12 games playing on 1 days rest and 48-22-3 over the total in their last 73 home games. The over is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings, including 5-1 over the total in the last 6 meetings in Tampa Bay. Play Washington/Tampa Bay over the total. |
|||||||
02-12-13 | MON CANADIENS v. TB LIGHTNING OVER 5.5 | 4-3 | Win | 101 | 28 h 35 m | Show
02/12 7:35 PM EST NHL (5) MONTREAL CANADIENS VS (6) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
Take: over the total. Reason: A pair of suspect defensive teams meet in Tampa Bay, a team that plays an attacking, uptempo offense all game long. Montreal is 14th in goals allowed, 16th at killing penalties, and on a 6-2 run over the total. They gave up 6 goals at home the last game, a loss to Toronto, and now head to Tampa Bay, the top offensive team in the NHL. After a good start, the Tampa Bay defense has slipped and is getting closer to last year's awful unit, now ranked 29th in goals allowed and off a 5-1 loss at NY. The over is 10-1-1 in the Lightning's last 12 games playing on 1 days rest and 48-22-3 over the total in their last 73 home games. Play the Canadiens/Lightening over the total. |
|||||||
02-09-13 | Buffalo Sabres v. NY Islanders OVER 5.5 | 3-2 | Loss | -121 | 28 h 29 m | Show
02/09 7:05 PM EST NHL (65) BUFFALO SABRES VS (66) NEW YORK ISLANDERS
Take: over the total. Reason: Buffalo has a new style, hard hitting and fast skating. It's gotten them improved offense (8th in goals scored) but few wins because of a defense ranked 29th in goals allowed and 19th in killing penalties. It worked the last game, a 5-4 win over Montreal, but this defense is a problem. They are on a 6-0 run over the total and the over is 7-2 in the Sabres last 9 vs. a team with a losing record. The Islanders are similar, 9th in goals scored but 26th in goals allowed, on a 14-5-1 over the total. The over is 29-8-1 in the Islanders last 38 vs. the Northeast and 6-2 over the total in their last 8 home games. And what happens when they meet? The over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings, including 4-0 over the total in the last 4 meetings in New York. Play the Sabres/Islanders over the total. |

02/07 7:05 PM NHL (57) WASHINGTON CAPITALS VS (58) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Take: over the total. Reason: Washington heads to Pittsburgh and brings one of the worst defenses in the NHL to town, 27th in goals allowed and 23rd in penalty killing. Pittsburgh has a high powered offense behind center Sidney Crosby, 4th in the league in goals scored with a Top 10 power play. The over is 35-14-4 in Penguins last 53 overall as well as 18-7-1 over the total in the Penguins last 26 home games. And when these teams meet the over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Pittsburgh. Play the Capitals/Penguins over the total. |
