05/02 09:05 PM EST NHL (19) PHOENIX COYOTES VS (20) NASHVILLE PREDATORS
Take: Phoenix/Nashville Game 3 over the total. Two games into this series it's been all about offense, both over the total. Game 2 was a shootout, a 5-3 Phoenix win at home as a dog and this one will, as well. Phoenix scored three times on 19 second-period shots. After being outshot 42-24 in Game 1, the Coyotes had a playoff-high 39 shots to Nashville's 33 in Game 2. In fact, Phoenix has tallied 13 goals the last 3 games. Nashville comes home for Game 3 and this team was 8th in the NHL in goals scored with the No. 1 power play, so there is plenty of offensive punch. Play Phoenix/Nashville Game 3 over the total. |

04-28-12 | LA KINGS GM1 v. ST. LOUIS GM1 UNDER 5 | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 52 h 55 m | Show
04/28 7:00 PM EST NHL (1) LOS ANGELES KINGS VS (2) ST. LOUIS BLUES
Take: NHL Playoff Powerhouse High Roller Total: Kings/Blues Game 1 under the total. The top two defensive teams in the NHL meet here, and both prefer a slow, defensive style. The LA Kings are No. 2 in goals allowed with just 2.1 per game, while the anemic offense ranks 29th in goals scored. They are on a 3-0 run under the total, knocking offense Vancouver. St. Louis is tops in the league in goals allowed, just 1.9 goals per game, with a below average offense (ranked 21st) and a weak power play (19th). They are on a 3-1 run under the total. These teams met 4 times this season with the under 3-1, with the scores of the last two meetings both 1-0! Play the Kings/Blues Game 1 Under the total. |
|||||||
04-25-12 | Washington Capitals v. Boston Bruins OVER 5 | 2-1 | Loss | -120 | 50 h 42 m | Show
04/25 3:00 PM EST NHL (73) WASHINGTON CAPITALS VS (74) BOSTON BRUINS
Take: NHL Playoff 20-Star Slap Shot Total Slam: Game 7 over the total. Washington slowed the pace down in the first two games, but since then both these teams have play more uptempo hockey, on a 3-1 run over the total. They are off back to back 4-3 games over the weekend, with each team winning once. Boston has had a lot of scoring chances in this series but has whiffed too often. Keep in mind this Bruins offense was No. 2 in the NHL in goals scored. Three of the last four games have ended in 4-3 scores, and look for more offense than oddsmakers expect for Game 7. Play the Capitols/Bruins Game 7 over the total. |

04-21-12 | San Jose Sharks v. St Louis Blues UNDER 5 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 27 h 35 m | Show
04/21 07:35 PM EST NHL (37) SAN JOSE SHARKS VS (38) ST. LOUIS BLUES
Take: NHL Playoff Total of the Week: Sharks/Blues under the total. This series is 2-1-1 under the total played at a slow pace. That's fine with San Jose, a team that is 8th in the NHL in goals allowed. The under is 9-3-1 in the Sharks last 13 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600 and 3-0-1 under the total in their last 4 playoff games as an underdog. |||||||
04-15-12 | Pittsburgh Penguines v. Philadelphia Flyers OVER 6 | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 13 h 18 m | Show
Hi Roller Total : The high flying Philadelphia Flyers are leading their series with their intrastate rivals Pittsburgh, 2-0. Philly came back a few times in game two and used their high powered offense (ranked 2nd in the NHL at 3.2 gpg) to overpower the Penguins, 8-5. While it's been thought that the Penguins owned a big edge in goaltending in this series, that hasn't materialized as Philly has scored 12 goals in two games. The Penguins though are the league's top scoring team at 3.3 gpg and have scored eight goals in the previous two games of this series. We get a six here on the total and likely will fade towards the over, but with these teams playing at this high pace and neither goaltender showing much, this game looks to be an easy OVER.

And they face the best defense in the league as the Blues are tops in goals allowed with just 1.9 allowed per game and the 7th best penalty killing unit. The under is 38-15-15 in the Blues last 68 overall, as well as 33-12-11 under the total in their last 56 vs. the Western Conference. And when these teams meet the under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings. 03/22 10:35 PM EST NHL (13) BOSTON BRUINS VS (14) SAN JOSE SHARKS
Take: NHL Total of the Week: Bruins/Sharks under the total. A pair of powerhouse defensive teams meet in San Jose. The Bruins are No. 6 in the NHL in goals allowed and 11th in penalty killing with their outstanding defense, led by enormous Zdeno Chara. They come off a shutout over Toronto and the under is 31-15-6 in the Bruins last 52 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. San Jose has 10th in the NHL in goals allowed and on a 7-3-2 run under the total. The under is 5-1-1 in Sharks last 7 home games and 40-18-4 under in their last 62 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. and when these teams meet the under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in San Jose. 03-16-12 | Chicago Blackhawks v. Dallas Stars UNDER 5.5 | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 28 h 60 m | Show
03/16 08:35 PM EST NHL (5) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS VS (6) DALLAS STARS
Take: NHL Total of the Week: Blackhawks/Stars under the total. Dallas is off a 5-2 loss, but it ended a sizzling 10-1 run. And that run has been keyed by defense, allowing 2 goals or less in 11 of the last 15 games. Before that 5-2 loss Dallas had back to back shutouts, 2-0 and 1-0. The under is 8-2-2 in the Stars last 12 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and they face a Chicago team that hasn't played well on the road. The under is 4-1 in the Blackhawks last 5 road games. Play the Blackhawks/Stars under the total. 03/16 09:35 PM EST NHL (7) CALGARY FLAMES VS (8) EDMONTON OILERS Take: (7) CALGARY FLAMES. Reason: No use backing the last place Oilers, who are 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 45-114 in their last 159 vs. the Western Conference. They've earned that last place slot, 25th in goals allowed and 17th in goals scored. Edmonton has lost 6 of 8 games and failed to top 3 goals in any of them, scoring 2 or less 5 times. Calgary has a good defense and is playing well, winning 4 in a row. Jarome Iginla (30 goals) became the seventh NHL player to hit the 30-goal mark in 11 straight seasons, and his tally carried even more importance because it came in the Calgary Flames' key 3-2 overtime victory against the San Jose Sharks. The Flames are 20-7 in their last 27 vs. the Northwest. The Flames are 37-16-1 in the last 54 meetings and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Edmonton. Play Calgary! |

03-07-12 | Toronto Maple Leafs v. Pittsburgh Penguines OVER 5.5 | 2-3 | Loss | -125 | 26 h 7 m | Show
03/07 07:35 PM EST NHL (53) TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS VS (54) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Take: High Roller Total: Leafs/Penguins Over the total. A pair of strong offensive teams meet in Pittsburgh. Toronto is 8th in the NHL in goals scored but has a terrible defense, 28th in goals allowed and 29th in penalty killing. They are on a 7-2 run over the total, plus the over is 7-1 in Maple Leafs last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600. They face a dynamite Pittsburgh offense, one that is 3rd in the NHL averaging 3.1 goals per game. They are on a 7-3 run over the total at home and the over is 7-1 in the Penguins last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. And when these teams meet, the over is 18-7-1 in the last 26 meetings as well as 6-0 over in the last 6 meetings in Pittsburgh. Play the Maple Leafs/Penguins over the total. |
|||||||
02-09-12 | Dallas Stars v. Columbus Blue Jackets OVER 5 | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 12 m | Show
02/09 07:05 PM EST NHL (1) DALLAS STARS (2) COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS
Take: NHL High Roller Slap Shot Total Slam: Dallas/Columbus Over the total. A pair of weak defensive teams meet in Columbus. Dallas is 19th in the NHL in goals allowed and in the middle of the back in penalty killing. The over is 7-1-1 in the Stars last 9 road games and they've allowed 11 goals the last three games. Last place Columbus is terrible defensively allowing 3.2 goals per game (29th) and 30th in penalty killing. At least the offense has found some life, scoring 3 goals in each of the last two games (both wins). This is a low NHL total in a game with such weak defense and goaltending. Play the Stars/Blue Jackets Over the total. |
|||||||
01-31-12 | Washington Capitals v. Tampa Bay Lightning OVER 5.5 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 25 h 27 m | Show
01/31 07:35 PM NHL (63) WASHINGTON CAPITALS VS (64) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
Take: over the total. Reason: January Total Game of the Month : Key Southwest division matchup here on Tuesday as the top dog, Washington, meets fourth place Tampa Bay. This is an offensive division, in fact it's the only division in the NHL where every team has a minus in goal differential, even Washington. There really isn't a good defensive club in the Southeast. Washington ranks 18th defensively (2.8 gpg) and is the 9th best offensive team (2.8 gpg). Tampa is right behind the Caps offensviely, ranking 10th, but is 30th in defense (3.4 goals allowed). Part of that is due to a poor penalty killing unit that is 25th in the league (79.9%). Still, both clubs can score and all we have is a 5.5 total on this game. I love this game OVER and it's my January Total of the Month. |
|||||||
01-24-12 | San Jose Sharks v. Calgary Flames UNDER 5.5 | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 26 h 58 m | Show
01/24 09:05 PM EST NHL (71) SAN JOSE SHARKS (72) CALGARY FLAMES
Take: Under the total. Reason: Have to look for a defensive game here. First place San Jose got there with defense allowing 2.4 goals per game -- 6th best in the NHL. The under is 4-0 in the Sharks last 4 games as a favorite and 7-1 under the total in their last 8 vs. a team with a losing record. The team is on a 10-4 run under the total and 19-7 under in the Sharks last 26 vs. the Western Conference. Calgary can also slow the pace down, 13th in the NHL in goals allowed, though the offense is 25th. The under is 7-2-1 in Flames last 10 games playing on two days rest. Play San Jose/Calgary Under the total. |
|||||||
01-20-12 | Tampa Bay Lightning v. Dallas Stars OVER 5.5 | 2-1 | Loss | -110 | 25 h 30 m | Show
01/20 08:35 PM EST NHL (55) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING VS (56) DALLAS STARS
Take: NHL 20-Star Slap Shot Total Slam: Tampa Bay/Dallas over the total. A pair of weak defensive teams meet in Dallas and Tampa Bay has an uptempo, attacking offensive style. Tampa Bay is 12th in the NHL in goals scored, but that comes at a cost as the defense and goal tending are awful, 30th in goals allowed (3.5 goals per game). The penalty killing ranks 25th and the over is 7-0 in the Lightning's last 7 vs. a team with a winning record. In addition, the over is 15-5-1 in their last 21 games playing on 2 days rest and 20-7 over the total in the Lightning's last 27 overall. Dallas ranks 18th in goals allowed and the over is 4-1 in the Stars last 5 games playing on 2 days rest. And what happens when these teams meet? The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. Play Tampa Bay/Dallas Over the total. |
|||||||
01-14-12 | Buffalo Sabres v. NY Islanders OVER 5.5 | 2-4 | Win | 108 | 25 h 46 m | Show
01/14 07:05 PM NHL (63) BUFFALO SABRES VS (64) NEW YORK ISLANDERS
Take: NHL Total of the Week: Sabres/Islanders Over the total. A pair of lousy defensive teams meet here, which means the offensive fur will be flying. Buffalo is 11th on offense with the power play, but 20th in goals allowed. The New York Islanders also have a great power play (5th) but are stuck in last place there because of bad defense, 25th in goals allowed. The over is 20-6-1 in Islanders last 27 vs. the Northeast and 16-6-1 over the total in their last 23 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. And when these teams meet, the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. Play the Sabres/Islanders Over the total. |
|||||||
01-10-12 | Phoenix Coyotes v. New York Rangers UNDER 5 | 1-2 | Win | 108 | 25 h 31 m | Show
01/10 07:05 PM NHL (51) PHOENIX COYOTES (52) NEW YORK RANGERS
Take: High Roller Total (UNDER): I always like to look at playing Rangers games UNDER and tonight looks to be a prime matchup for that occasion. The Rangers are second in the NHL in goals allowed per game (2.03). They also have the 6th best penalty killing unit (86.8%). Henrik Lundqvist has been outstanding between the pipes for the Rangers, allowing just 1.89 goals per game and a save percentage of .939. The Rangers have been particularly stingy with the goals at home, allowing just two of their last eight visitors to get more than one goal (two teams had two goals). Phoenix makes the visit to the Big Apple tonight. The Coyotes are 9th in the league in goals allowed (2.55). The Desert Dogs got Mike Smith back between the pipes after missing some games. Smith allows just 2.43 goals per game with a .922 save percentage. The Coyotes don't fare well away from home, getting shut out at Los Angeles on Jan 5th and scoring just one goal at St Louis the game before that. The only other meeting this year, in Phoenix, was a win by the Rangers, 3-2. I don't expect Phoenix to get much here tonight, if they can keep the Rangers in check, then this should go under the 5 goal total. |
