Blazers/Nuggets 10:35: Really impressed with Jokic. He is a bona fide superstar and arguably the best big man in the game. He has an inside and outside game, great hands, excellent passer and rebounder; moreover, he plays defense and leads the team in steals! Portland's Kanter (separated shoulder) has no chance of stopping him. Portland will have to double him but he can easily kick it out or throw a precision pass to a backdoor cut. Denver's backcourt of Murray and Harris doing a fine job and shouldn't take a backseat to Lilard and McCollum. Denver's gotten the best of this series and I don't see the Blazers coming in to this arena and stealing one. Denver the call.

Rockets/Warriors 3:35: Rockets gave the Warriors a serious run for the money in last year's playoffs, won the regular season series, and, unlike last year, come in with a healthy Chris Paul and Capela. Golden State, on the other hand, is coming off a surprisingly hard fought series vs the Clippers. Thompson and Curry suffered sprained ankles on Friday. And depth is not the greatest with Cousins out throughout playoffs. GS has been overvalued most of the year at home and managed to lose two games SU at home to the Clippers in the quarterfinals. One of the drawbacks from Houston being a Top Play here is the fact that they're not a good well rested team going 1-5 ATS on 3+ days rest. However, road team has covered 4 of last 5 in this series and like the chemistry Houston has established down the stretch. Houston the call.

76ers/Raptors 7:35: 76ers, after a sluggish Game 1 vs Brooklyn, turned up the offensive volume over their last 4 games and delivered the knockout. However, don't see them outpacing Toronto, at least on this floor today. Toronto is well schooled on the defensive end and can run the floor with the best of the Eastern Conference teams. Now that Toronto PF Siakam has emerged as a major offensive weapon, offensive pressure taken off Leonard, and to a lesser degree - Lowry. 76ers do not play well in Toronto. On the other hand, Simmons continues to be a playoff bust and he didn't disappoint in Game 1. Refs did their best to give Philly the edge putting them on the foul line 42 times but Philly could only convert on 29. Brooklyn showed the maturity though hitting 24 of 26 from the free throw line. Texas Tech/Virginia 9:20: Going to give the edge to Tech. Having Tariq Owens not at his best - with a swollen ankle from Saturday - is concerning though. The St. John's transfer has been a dominant force on both ends of the floor all season. His presence can help contain Virginia's excellent big men Diakite and Hunter. Fortunately Odiase is a huge rebounding and defensive presence as well. What I love about Texas Tech though, is their ability to shine with the next man up; for example, when Big 12 Player of the Year - Culver - was struggling bad for most of the game, Mooney stepped up with a career game. Everybody on TT has had their step-up moments in this tournament from Moretti to Francis. And HC Beard has emerged as one of the most detailed coaches in the game. He's bonded a group of transfers into an incredibly well schooled team. Not taking away anything from Virginia, I've been riding them all season, but Tech has a bit more hustle and flow to their game now. And I don't see Culver struggling two games in a row. Tech it is.

He was a winner at every stop in his career and he clearly can match wits with Izzo, who will be in his 8th Final Four. Remember, Tech has suffocated each team they played in this tournament. They held an athletic and explosive Buffalo team to just 58 points. Next took on a white-hot Michigan team coming into the tournament and didn't just beat them, they destroyed them. Wolves could barely get a shot off. Tech followed up befuddling #1 seed Gonzaga, which had the #1 offense in the nation, holding them to a season low 69 points! There is no team in the nation as prepared the way Tech is. And they have a big time NBA lottery pick in Culver to wreak more havoc. Sure, Michigan State is tough and physical but Beard's frontline bunch led by Tariq Owens can hold their own and more. And let's not forget the hot clutch shooting of Moretti. Tech delivers.

Auburn/Virginia 6:09: Auburn made a nice run and I ran with them; however, Virginia is another animal and it should end here. The Tigers' Okeke was huge throughout the season as a scorer, rebounder, defender. Sure, after Okeke went down with the knee injury midway through the game vs North Carolina, the Tigers were fueled by inspiration from their fallen teammate and it carried over vs Kentucky. Now that the well disciplined Cavaliers had nearly a week to set their game plan, Brown and Harper will have difficulty carrying the load. Virginia is very tough defending the perimeter (29% allowed), and Auburn virtually lived by the 3 all season. Remember, Okeke was a huge part of that. Take away that 12 points per game and 7 rebounds per game, Auburn should be handcuffed here. Virginia doesn't allow easy transition either. They're very sharp at burying 3's (7th in the nation) and get back defensively. They should be able to contain the speed of Brown and Harper. And they took out NC Greensboro, Davidson and N.C. State in the NIT. I do realize Wichita State is always dangerous as long as Greg Marshall is patrolling the sidelines; however, he doesn't have the shooters this year nor the big game playmakers. Michigan State/Duke 5:05: Duke barely clinging on to victories and overdue for a route. Duke does not have the perimeter game this season (30.7% which is 331st in the nation) but Zion Williamson can scorch teams anywhere on the floor. And Duke runs there offense so smoothly, they've mastered the game around the rim. But I like Michigan State's inside game which seals off easy buckets around the rim. Tillman, Goins, Ward are cut from Izzo's cloth of strength in the paint and securing rebounds. Also like the Spartans' freshmen Henry and Brown stepping up their game as crunch time arrives. And, of course, McQuaid usually steps up at one time or another in a big game with a big shot. And Michigan State can run the floor with the best of them if it turns into a transition game. With Duke's Reddish (knee) still iffy - he'll most likely play - we'll give the edge to the Spartans.

Kentucky would have been in deep trouble had P.J. Washington (foot) not played versus Houston. Kentucky is sneaking by teams and have trouble getting into sets late in games. Purdue/Virginia 8:49: Had Purdue (+2) against Tennessee and delivered; however, don't like the matchup against the nation's #1 scoring defense. Cavaliers slapped the monkey off their back in the NCAA Round One by overcoming double digit deficit to Gardner-Webb. Confidence built in the Second Round by holding the prolific offense of Oklahoma, which dropped 95 on Ole-Miss in Round 1, to just 51 points. Another prolific offense - Oregon, which was one of the hottest teams in the nation leading in to the Sweet 16, was held to just 49. Virginia parallels the Villanova team of Jay Wright, which for years got in to the NCAA Tourney but ended underachieving but gradually improving each appearance until finding confidence and composure. Virginia has a great coach also in Bennett and he's instilled that confidence in this year's bunch. Even when Virginia is not at its best - and clearly the numbers were ugly against Oregon, the Cavaliers found a way to deliver. Cavaliers' defense will take away a team's offensive strength. For Purdue, they've been hot from the perimeter in this tourney but Virginia, #3 in the nation guarding the perimeter. Purdue has a season history of struggling against very good defensive teams. The Pirates should have defensive stopper - McKnight to contain Southern Conference P.O.Y. - Fletcher Magee. Terriers can shoot the lights out and rebound; however, they'll have to deal with 6'10" Mamukelashvili - who has a definitive size advantage. Terriers have not fared well when having to step out of their league to power conferences. They failed to cover against North Carolina, Oklahoma, Kansas and Miss State. They did, however, beat S. Gators play great defense under Coach White, have advanced past the first round in 3 of 4 years in this tourney, and won't be intimidated. Murray State/Marquette 4:30: Marquette is another tournament team that started the year off strong (23-4), captured some quality non-conference wins, and then sputtered inconsistently down the stretch on a 1-5 slide. Leading scorer Markus Howard literally lived at the free throw line vs Seton Hall in the 2nd round of the conference tournament but missed lots of free throws and was a pitiful 1 of 15 from the field. Most likely, the #6 scorer in the nation will find his range today. And surely the Golden Eagles are equipped with scorers - add Hauser to that list too; however, the #11 scoring team in the nation - Murray State - is no joke. Ja Morant is as good as any scorer in the nation and he's got a solid scoring contingent supporting him. The OVC has some serious scoring teams like Belmont and Jacksonville State that can light up the net. Moreover, Murray State defends the perimeter will at 28.2%! That's #4 in the nation. Considering Marquette is not a long (height) team, without an imposing post player, the Racers can effectively trade buckets. Racers should be back to their old NCAA Tournament form of yesteryear.

Belmont/Maryland 3:10: Tough task for Maryland, which is trying to regain their earlier season mojo. The Terrapins shot out of the gate on a 16-3 tear but limped down the stretch on a 6-7 slide. Now they face the #2 scoring team in the nation that lit up a pretty good Temple squad on Monday in the First Four. Sure, MD's future NBA baller Fernando is a beast but now that Belmont's freshman big man - Muszynski (8 of 12 from field vs Temple) is back in the fray, Belmont has a big body to contain Fernando. Belmont has Sr. G McClain to light up the perimeter along with a supporting cast of white dudes who can hustle and play. Remember, in 2017 NCAA Tournament, MD entered as the #6 seed losing to #11 seeded Xavier. "It's deju vu all over again." Belmont the call.

CM plays very well on the road (10-0-1 ATS run) and is playing good basketball down the stretch including giving conference champion Buffalo a real rough time in the MAC Championship game. DePaul on the other hand, went on a 2-6 ATS slide down the stretch and probably won't get much fan support here. CM delivers!

Denver sports a sluggish 6-14 ATS mark in their last 20 road games. And they haven't fared well in Boston where they're 4-11 ATS. Celtics are starting to play better basketball winning 5 of their last 6 SU; however, still overvalued to a degree going 2-3-1 ATS in those games. I do like that Boston controls an 11-5 ATS mark vs the NBA Northwest; moreover, that they're seeking same season revenge from their November 5th loss - 115-107. Boston the call.

Michigan/Michigan State 3:30: This series is becoming quite a rivalry as both teams at the upper echelon of the Big 10. After Michigan got the best of Michigan State last year, Mich State swept this year's regular season. Michigan, however, was in both up until the bitter end when Mich State pulled away. As good as both - Izzo and Beilein are as coaches, Beilein may be the master of adjustments. The Wolverines have the #2 defense in the nation in terms of points allowed, and they will have the plan in order to stop Winston from effective ball screens, pick and pops or easy drives to the basket. Sharp perimeter shooters - Goins and McQuaid were surely addressed as well. Remember, Michigan has one of the top 5 defenses in the nation in terms of defending the perimeter at a measly 28.4%. As Michigan's offense now starting to gel a bit, we'll look for the Wolves to find some rhythm today. And keep in mind Michigan is one of the best teams ever on a neutral floor with an amazing 40-18-3 ATS mark. They also are money on Sundays at 13-3 ATS. Mich State a meager 3-7 ATS on neutral floors. Wolverines should claim second consecutive Big 10 Titles.

Cincinnati/Houston 3:15: The Cougars lost this championship game to the Bearcats last year and have a singleness of purpose to win here. Sure, Houston won both regular season meetings and it is difficult to sweep in the Conference Tourney; however, Houston is the only way to go here. In that regular season finale, Houston hit 12 of 23 from 3 point land in an easy victory at Cincinnati. Houston is now hitting 41% from 3 point land over their last 4 games. Sure, Cincy has a tough defense but struggles defending the perimeter allowing 35.6%! That's 243rd in the nation. And besides All-World G Cumberland, who breaks down defenses as well as any top guard in the nation, the offense surrounding him is stagnant. Houston has a picket fence that's virtually impenetrable when they're on. We'll call for Houston to be on today.

Houston coach Sampson and staff do an amazing job defensively - cutting off lanes, taking away best player, and creating turnovers, getting back defensively. And they're 10-4 ATS on the road vs a team with a home win % above .600. Coach Pikiell has done a nice job guiding Rutgers to more Big 10 wins this year than the last 2 seasons combined! And Rutgers is in line for a first round bye if they can get by Indiana today. The Scarlet Knights crash the boards - leading the Big 10 in offensive rebounds. The Tigers are coming off three home wins including a not so comfortable 69-68 over Dartmouth February 16th as a 6' point favorite. Tonight, Tigers will have to travel a bit without suspended G Cannady who averages 18.9 PPG. Princeton is not a an offensive juggernaut by any stretch - 41.2% shooting from the floor (314th nationally) and 31% from 3 point land (317th nationally). Dartmouth has been competitive over their last 5 games at 4-1 ATS. They have a solid scoring duo in Foye and Knight. We'll look for Dart to avenge their earlier season loss here.

Maryland/Penn State 6:30: Popular choice Maryland vulnerable here. Terps coming off two impressive wins - at Iowa and at home vs OSU. Defense has been awesome while Fernando is an absolute beast while Cowan fires away; however, Cowan turned the ball over 4X at home vs OSU on Sunday and turnovers are a concern. Penn State takes care of the ball and Stevens doing an amazing job as the go to guy. Penn State is notorious for these late season runs and, will once again, attempt to save Coach Chambers' job. Penn State has won 4 of the last 6 Big 10 games and seeking revenge in a series that has been historically tight and competitive. Take the bucket with Penn State.

Blazers/Cavaliers 7:05: Cavaliers have covered 4 of their last 5 at home and getting good work out of rookie Sexton while Clarkson and Love are stepping up their game. Cleveland 5-1 ATS on 1 day of rest. Home team in this series 12-3-1 ATS. And veteran Brandon Knight is adding some quality minutes after being acquired from NY. Portland having a nice road trip but could struggle somewhat here. Blazers just 1-4 ATS at Cleveland. Worth throwing a little on the home team here.

ND/Fla State 7:00: Historically, ND has gotten the best of this series (4-0 ATS) but this year there is quite the disparity in talent, experience. ND really struggling to find offense (59.4 PPG last 5 games). They're shooting a poor 39.9% from the floor which is 341st in the nation; consequently, that should not bode well vs defensively sound Fla State. The 'Noles are coming off a beat down at North Carolina on Saturday; actually, late in the second half, Fla State got it down to trailing by 4 before NC went on an 8-0 run to open the flood gates. At home, 'Noles should do well; after all, they're 7-1 ATS at home following an extended road trip. ND lacks the fight - 2-8 ATS off a SU loss - and not a Monday team at 0-6 ATS. Fla State the call.

Spurs/Knicks 7:35: Spurs off a solid effort and cover on Friday night in Toronto; unfortunately, clutch shooting in the final minute came up short. The pissed off Spurs should take their frustration out on the pitiful Knicks. New York is a dismal 4-24 SU or 9-19 ATS at MSG. Knicks coming off an 11 point loss on their home floor Friday night. New York is also a dreadful 5-12 ATS off a SU loss of 10+ and just 2-12 ATS on one day of rest. Spurs are 4-1 ATS on Sundays, 8-2 ATS vs the Eastern Conference. We'll look for Belinelli to stay hot, and for Aldridge and Derrick White to turn it up several notches after shaky performances on Friday night.
