This is a 10* play on DET@MIN to go OVER the total.
The over is 53-24-4 in Minnesota's last 81 overall, and I expect another slugfest at Target Field tonight.
Anibal Sanchez will toe the slab for the Tigers, and he's coming off a solid performance. Sanchez (6-12, 5.94 ERA) struck out eight while tossing seven scoreless innings in a no decision versus the Royals his last time out. That was at home, and he's 2-7 with an 8.12 ERA in 14 appearances on the road.
The Twins hand the ball to Kyle Gibson, who has not looked sharp in recent starts. Gibson (5-7, 4.90 ERA) allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks, going the distance in a 10-3 win at Atlanta his last time out. He was rocked for six runs on 10 hits and two walks in five innings in a loss to the Royals in his last home start. He hasn't fooled the Tigers, they are hitting .302 with four home runs in 129 at bats in previous meetings.
The over is 5-1 in Twins last six home games vs. a right-handed starter.

That is the eighth straight game he allowed three runs or less and is 2-0 in his last four starts with a 2.52 ERA. In his last two games he struck out 16 batters and walked only three while KC have won his last four starts and he has allowed three runs or less in his last five road games. The Marlins hand the ball to Andrew Cashner (4-9, 4.92 ERA) who hasn't won a game since coming to Miami. He is 0-2 in his five starts while the Marlins have lost his last four games. In total he pitched 21 1/3 innings and gave up 14 runs and 27 hits. In his last game at home he pitched five innings and gave up four runs and nine hits and has walked nine batters in his last two games. The Red Sox hand the ball to Clay Buchholz, who is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in his last two starts versus the Rays. Buchholz has been torched for a dozen runs on 20 hits over 20 2/3 innings in his last three starts.

Homer Bailey will toe the rubber for the Reds, and he's been great since coming off the DL. Bailey (2-1, 3.66 ERA) allowed a pair of runs on six hits, striking out six in five innings in a home win over Miami his last time out. He's had plenty of success against the Dodgers, going 4-3 with a 3.84 ERA in nine career starts against them. The LA lineup is hitting just .228 with 22 strikeouts over 101 at bats during that span.
LA will hand the ball to Scott Kazmir, who has owned the Reds in recent meetings. Two of those runs were unearned, as he was the victim of poor defense. That was his first loss since the All Star break, with a record of 4-1 with a 1.98 ERA in seven starts. Both these teams were supposed to have heated battles for the starting QB position, but an injury to Colin Kaepernick has put a hold on any battle for the starters job in San Francisco. In Denver, veteran Marc Sanchez has looked great, completing 10-of-13 passes for 99 yards and a TD in a 22-0 win over the Bears last week. Trevor Siemian will start tonight, and will get a chance to show what he can do with the starting offense. Sanchez should still see plenty of snaps.
The Niners used three quarterbacks in Week 1, and the trio of Blaine Gabbert, Thad Lewis and Jeff Driskel completed less than 50% of their passes, totaling just 173 yards and a TD. They face a Denver defense that had seven sacks and an INT in the shutout win over the Bears.
Denver's third string quarterback Paxton Lynch impressed, completing 6-of-7 attempts for 74 yards. We could see more of Lynch here tonight. This is a 10* play on the New England Patriots.
I bet on the Patriots in their home win over New Orleans in Week 1, and here is what I said prior to the game: "The Patriots on the other hand will desperately need to get Jimmy Garoppolo up to speed before the season starts. With Tom Brady set to serve a four game suspension for his role in the Deflate-Gate controversy, Jimmy G will be their man for the first four weeks. More playing time for Garoppolo might not be that big of an advantage in comparison to the Saints second and third string QBs, but I'm expecting New England's first team offense to see significantly more time on the field. After all, it's the starters that he needs to develop chemistry with."
They host the Bears in Week 2, and I expect to see plenty more of the Jimmy G. He hasn't had many opportunities to play during the regular season, but he has looked sharp in past pre-season games. In 2014 he completed 46-of-79 passes for 618 yards, five TDs and one INT. He would finish the 2014 pre-season with a 99.0 passer rating. We could see Tom Brady get a little bit of work, just to keep the rust off while he serves his suspension.
The Bears offense failed to score a single point in Week 1, as backup QBs Connor Shaw and Brian Hoyer both played terribly. We aren't likely to see much of Jay Cutler here, leaving the two struggling backups to fight for the number two spot on the depth chart.

The Padres hand the ball to Luis Perdomo (5-6, 6.80 ERA) and he was hammered inn his last start when he lasted five innings and gave up six runs and nine hits with a HR and three walks. He has had control issues lately and has walked nine batters in his last three starts and has now lost two straight games. In his last two road games he gave up nine runs and 15 hits in 10 2/3 innings pitched.
San Diego has lost 15 of it's last 19 on the road, and the Padres are 0-4 in their last four visits to Tampa.

This is a 7* play on the Chicago Cubs.
The Cubs had an 11 game winning streak snapped on Saturday in an 8-4 loss to the Cardinals. I like Chicago to bounce back here in the series finale at Wrigley Sunday night.
John Lackey will toe the slab for the Cubs, and he's dominated at Wrigley this season. Lackey (9-7, 3.56 ERA) allowed one run on just three hits, striking out six in eight innings of work in a 5-1 home win over the Angels his last time out. That puts his home record at 6-4 with a 2.67 ERA. He's pitched well against his former team, going 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in three previous meetings with the Cardinals.
St. Louis will hand the ball to Mike Leake, who has not been sharp at all in his last four starts. Leake (8-9, 4.79 ERA) surrendered three runs on six hits, walking four and failing to strike out a single batter in a 7-4 loss to Cincinnati his last time out. Prior to that he was torched for 20 runs on 27 hits in three appearances.
The Cardinals are missing a pair of big bats, with SS Aledmys Diaz and LF Matt Holiday both out with injuries. Between the two of them they have 117 RBIs.

Weather conditions in the nation's capital have been favorable for hitters this weekend, and we did see three home runs at Nationals Park last night. I think the bookmakers have overreacted with an inflated total for this afternoon's game. Both starters have been dealing, and I expect to see a pitcher's duel in Washington this afternoon.
Tanner Roark will toe the slab for the Nats, and he's coming off a dominant performance. Roark (12-6, 2.88 ERA) tossed seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 win over the Giants his last time out. He's 4-1 with a 2.43 ERA since the All Star break, and he's 5-2 with a 1.82 ERA in 10 starts in day games in 2016. He tossed seven shutout innings in a 3-0 home win over the Braves in his only start against them this year.
The Braves hand the ball to Tyrell Jenkins, who has surrendered just two runs over 18 innings during a three game winning streak. The 24 year old allowed just one run on three hits over six innings in a 2-1 win at Milwaukee his last time out.

Gee (4-5, 4.54 ERA) allowed three runs on four hits, walking four in six innings in a loss to Toronto in his last start. He's surrendered six runs on a dozen hits in six innings of work versus the Twins this year. Minnesota's lineup is batting .356 over a total of 45 at bats in previous meetings with Gee.

Following the Foxes loss to Manchester United in the Community Shield, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri said there's a greater chance of Aliens landing on earth, than there is of his team successfully defending it's title. This might sound overly pessimistic, but he's just being honest. I don't expect this team to find the magic that it had last year, but here in the first week of the season they face a newly promoted squad in a horrendous state of turmoil. The Tigers will have an interim manager after the departure of Steve Bruce, and an injury riddled squad that inspires zero confidence from the man in charge. Mike Phelan had this to say about his team when asked if they were ready for the Premier League: "I would say no, simply because of the injuries - and the injuries are not short term. "Most of them are longer term than we expected. It's a small squad, but small squads before have worked well together. There definitely need to be additions to this football club."

The Patriots face the Saints in the first week of the pre-season Thursday night, and these two teams are in very different situations. New Orleans will come into the season with veteran quarterback Drew Brees as it's undisputed starter, which means Brees has nothing to prove. It's expected that he will see limited snaps here in New England, and he didn't play at all in the first game of last year's pre-season.
The Patriots on the other hand will desperately need to get Jimmy Garoppolo up to speed before the season starts. After all, it's the starters that he needs to develop chemistry with.
Garoppolo hasn't had many opportunities to play during the regular season, but he has looked sharp in past pre-season games. In 2014 he completed 46-of-79 passes for 618 yards, five TDs and one INT. He would finish the 2014 pre-season with a 99.0 passer rating. He's facing a Saints defense that ranked dead last in the NFL last season, allowing 29.8 points per game.

Tyler Chatwood will toe the rubber for the Rockies, and he's been a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde pitcher this season. Chatwood (10-7, 3.63 ERA) allowed four runs on nine hits over six innings in a 4-2 home loss to the Dodgers his last time out. That puts his home record at just 4-7 with a 5.62 ERA. Dig a little deeper though, and we see three of those four home wins came in day games, and he's 6-1 with a 2.56 ERA in nine starts in the afternoon.

This is a 10* play on Manchester United.
Leicester City players each recently received a new BMW I8 as a gift from the owner for their efforts last season. They come into the 2016 season as defending champions, but repeating last season's success isn't going to be easy. Sunday's Community Shield match versus Manchester United isn't going to be easy. The Red Devils are the team that should have something to prove, and Jose Mourinho's squad has won the Community Shield five times since 2007. They have lost just once in their last 15 matches, and they have won four straight at Wembley. Not surprisingly, Leicester has not looked sharp in this summer's friendlies, and the Foxes could be in for a rude awakening here against a hungry United squad eager to impress the new boss.

This is a 10* play on EDM@OTT to go UNDER the total.
Two of the highest scoring teams in the CFL will meet in Canada's Capital Saturday, and the bookmakers have set an astronomically high total for this game. The last time these teams met, they scored over 80 combined points in Edmonton in Week 1. There is plenty of reason to think that we'll see a lower scoring game this week. The Redblacks will be without starting quarterback Trevor Harris, who led the league in passing yards, TDs and completion percentage before he was injured. Their offense hasn't been the same with 41 year old Henry Burris under center. Burris was the starter in Week 1 in Edmonton, throwing for 251 yards on 23-of-31 passing with a TD an an INT. He returned to the lineup last week, and threw for just 218 yards with a TD and a pair of INTs. While we saw a shootout in the first meeting, these teams had failed to reach the total in four of the previous five meetings. Edmonton has failed to reach the total in five of it's last seven road game, while Ottawa has gone under in four of it's last five overall.

B.C. has only allowed a total of 73 points while winning three of four games so far. One of those wins came at home against Calgary by a score of 20-18. The Stampeders are second in the West, and their 86 points allowed are the second fewest in the CFL behind B.C. The Lions won a blowout in Saskatchewan in their last game, but they had failed to reach the total in five straight prior to that. These teams have failed to reach the total in three straight head to head meetings, and the Under is 9-4-3 in Stampeders last 16 games overall. Prior to the game at Saskatchewan, the Lions quarterback Jonathon Jennings had thrown just one TD pass in three games. He failed to get in the endzone, throwing for 248 yards on 24-of-42 passing when the Stamps visited B.C. earlier this season. Take UNDER. GL, Jesse Schule

This is a 10* play on BOS@LAA to go OVER the total. Tim Lincecum (2-4, 8.70 ERA) was torched for eight runs and three HR's in his last start. He hasn't pitched into the sixth inning in five straight starts and has given up at least five runs in four of his last five starts. The long ball has also been a problem as he has given up six in his last 12 innings pitched. Boston hands the ball to Rick Porcello (13-2, 3.57 ERA) who wasn't very sharp in his last game. He pitched a total of 6.2 innings and gave up five runs and six hits. He has allowed at least three runs in six of his nine road games and last season went 0-2 with an 8.68 ERA against the Angels. He hasn't allowed more than two runs in six of his last seven starts and no more than six hits in five of his last six games. This is a 10* play on SASK@MTL to go OVER the total. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are coming off their first win of the season, but Riders fans shouldn't be overly optimistic heading into Friday's game at Montreal. Last week they barely held on at home, despite facing Ottawa's third string quarterback. The Redblacks came up just short, losing 30-29. The Riders defense has allowed the most points in the CFL by a country mile, and facing a hungry Montreal team on the road isn't going to be easy. The Alouettes offense hasn't gotten off the ground so far this season, but this looks like a good spot for Kevin Glenn to air it out. He should be able to take advantage of this vulnerable Riders secondary. These teams split the season series last year, with the home team winning each matchup. Both games saw more than 50 total points. The Riders have gone over in eight of their last 10 overall, and four of their last five on the road. Take OVER. GL, Jesse Schule

Johnny Cueto (13-2, 2.53 ERA) will toe the rubber looking for his league leading 14th win. His last outing was excellent as he pitched six innings and gave just one unearned run while striking out nine men. His last home start was a nine inning complete game win where he gave up one run and five hits. He is 5-1 at home with a 2.43 ERA and 7-3 vs Washington in his career. Washington will hand the ball to Tanner Roark (9-6, 3.05 ERA) who got roughed up in his last start when he gave up five runs on four hits along with two HR's in only five innings. He has allowed at least three runs in three of his last four road starts and is 5-4 with a 3.86 ERA under the lights. Both teams are currently sitting in first place in their own division. Kansas City have won the last five games he has started. The Angels will hand the ball to Matt Shoemaker (5-10, 3.99 ERA) who has been roughed up by the Royals in the past. While the Angels have lost five of his last seven starts, the Royals have compiled a .489 BA against him. Last season he didn't make it out of the 2nd inning in his only start against them when he gave up six runs and seven hits in 1.2 innings of work. In three starts over the last three seasons he pitched a total of 10.2 innings against KC and gave up 16 runs and 26 hits along with two HR's and five walks for an 0-2 record and a 13.50 ERA. The Phillies and the Pirates have split the first two games of this series in Pittsburgh, and I think the rubber match will turn out to be a pitcher's duel.
Vincent Valasquez will toe the slab for the visitors, and he's having himself an incredible season. His record of 8-2, 3.15 ERA is even more impressive when you consider that he plays for one of the worst teams in baseball. The 24 year old allowed one run on three hits over seven innings, not factoring in the decision in a 2-1 loss to Miami his last time out. He's 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA in his last three starts.
The Pirates counter with a hot young pitcher of their own in Jameson Taillon. The rookie right-hander has given up just a pair of runs on 11 hits over 12 innings in his last two starts. The Pirates have won four of his last five starts, and he's facing a Phillies lineup that ranks 29th in scoring among 30 major league clubs.
The Phillies have failed to to reach the total in seven of their last nine overall, while the Pirates have gone under in six of their last eight.

The Yankees have won five of their last seven overall, and they appear to have a favorable matchup on the mound in the rubber match versus San Francisco on Sunday.
Nate Eovaldi will toe the slab for the Bronx Bombers, and he's been great in New York. Eovaldi (8-6, 4.93 ERA) allowed one run on four hits over 5 1/3 innings in a 7-1 home win over Baltimore his last time out. He's 2-1 with a 3.63 in his last five appearances.
The Giants hand the ball to Jeff Samardzija, who has struggled on the road. Samardzija (9-5, 4.05 ERA) was torched for five runs on five hits in five innings in a 7-6 loss at San Diego his last time out. He's really been hit hard in day games, going 1-2 with a 5.08 ERA in five starts in the afternoon. This trend holds true over the last three seasons, where he shows a record of 11-21 with a 4.47 ERA.
