11-19-19 | Manhattan +3.5 v. Samford | 57-70 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 1 m | Show
Manhattan off to a 2-0 S/U and 1-1 ATS start to its season. Manhattan opened with home wins over Delaware State (85-74) and Albany NY (57-51). Now they hit the road for five straight games beginning tonight at Samford. Samford already has five games under its belt with a 2-3 S/U and 0-3 ATS records. Samford has won both home games over non-Div 1 teams and then lost all three road games. Somehow Samford a 6 point favorite here tonight despite not covering a spread and Manhattan winning both its games straight-up. I'm taking the points here on Tuesday with the visitor. Play Manhattan. |
11-18-19 | Middle Tennessee +3 v. Coastal Carolina | 72-93 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 16 m | Show
Middle Tennessee State is off to a 3-0 start and 1-0 spread record to start their season. The Raiders haven't played anyone yet with Maryville, Lipscomb and Mars Hill on their win column thus far. Coastal Carolina is 1-2 S/U and 0-2 ATS so far. CC hasn't had any great competition either with home losses to Campbell and Northern Kentucky and their lone win over Hampden-Sydney. One of my numbers heavily favor the visitor in this one and early on I lean on those numbers a lot. I'm taking the small points here tonight with Middle Tennessee State. |
11-18-19 | Northern Colorado v. West Virginia -15.5 | Top | 61-69 | Loss | -107 | 8 h 16 m | Show |
Northern Colorado comes into tonight's contest at 2-2 S/U and 2-1 ATS. NCU opened with a loss at Texas, 45-69 and then returned home for two easy wins over Incarnate Word and Colorado College before a fourth game at Northern Iowa that they lost, 72-77. West Virginia is 2-0 S/U and 1-1 ATS on their young season. The Mountaineers opened at Akron with a 94-84 win and then returned home to beat a good Pitt team, 68-53 as a 1.5-point favorite. WVU laying around 15-points here tonight. NCU not a good road team and WVU will be up for a big game on their home floor. Play West Virginia. |
11-17-19 | Seton Hall v. St. Louis +5.5 | 83-66 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 6 m | Show
The Seton Hall Pirates opened the season with a 2-1 S/U and ATS record. After three home games, they hit the road for just one game today before returning home for two more games. The 12th ranked Pirates did lose their last game though, a 73-76 setback to Michigan State, though they covered the 5-point home line. Meanwhile, St Louis is 3-0 both S/U and ATS to start the year. The Billikins are playing their first six at home and are coming off a win over Eastern Washington, 82-60 as a 8.5 point favorite. Seton Hall laying six to seven points here today. That's too many points against a St Louis team that could easily win this game outright. I'm looking for the upset win here today. Play St Louis. |
11-17-19 | CS-Northridge v. Richmond -14 | Top | 62-90 | Win | 100 | 7 h 6 m | Show |
Cal State Northridge Matadors still looking for their first win of the season after a 0-4 start. The Mats got pummeled last game by Auburn, 70-116 as a 23-point dog. Northridge has also yet to cover a spread. This Northridge club isn't good at all, but they are even worse on the road. And it would figure that they are playing six of their first seven away from the Matadome. Richmond is enjoying life at home in the opening days of the season. The Spiders play their first six at home. They are 2-0 S/U and 0-2 ATS in those first two home games. The Spiders score a lot, but also give up a lot, allowing 98 and 92 in their first two games. Don't be surprised if Richmond cracks the 100 mark here today against Northridge. Lay whatever you need to with Richmond. |
11-16-19 | NC-Wilmington +17.5 v. Davidson | 49-87 | Loss | -110 | 19 h 2 m | Show
Davidson will look for its first win of the young season here today as they play its first home game against UNC Wilmington. Davidson opened with a neutral site loss to Auburn, 66-76 and then lost on the road last time out, 58-71 to Charlotte, failing to cover either spread. Davidson begins the first of a four-game home set. Wilmington opened with a home win over Johnson and Wales, 103-83, then a loss to North Carolina, 62-78 before beating Campbell, 81-76. UNCW covered their two posted games including that game against North Carolina where they were a 22-point dog. Wilmington a whopping 17.5-point road dog here today. While my numbers have them about this line, one of my indicators have a much lower number. Right now, UNCW has shown they can play against the Big boys and getting this many points is too many to pass on. Play North Carolina Wilmington. |
11-16-19 | Tennessee v. Washington +2.5 | 75-62 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 2 m | Show
A big matchup here on Saturday as the undefeated Tennessee Volunteers take on the 20th ranked Washington Huskies as these teams meet North of the border in Toronto in the Naismith Hall of Fame Classic. UW has already knocked off a big team, beating then No 16 Baylor in the Armed Forces Classic, 67-64. Washington then won their home opener against Mt ST Mary's, 56-46, failing to cover the 22-point line. Tennessee is 2-0 S/U and 1-1 ATS also. The Volunteers opened at home with a win over UNC Asheville, 78- 63 and then beat Murray State, 82-63. Washington is led by a pair of freshmen, Jaden McDaniels and Isaiah Stewart. The pair combined for 33 points in their win over Baylor. Tennessee is unranked, but finds itself installed as the 2-point favorite here today. I'm going to take the points with a Washington team that while young, looks to have plenty of talent. Play Washington. |
11-16-19 | St. Joe's +7.5 v. Loyola-Chicago | 68-85 | Loss | -108 | 14 h 1 m | Show
St Joseph's off to a 2-1 S/U and ATS start to their season. St Joe's opened with a home win over Bradley, 86-81, covering the 5-point dog line. Then they lost at Old Dominion, 69-82 and then pulled the big upset win at U Conn last time out, 96-87 as a 15-point dog. Loyola Chicago is off to a 1-2 S/U and ATS start. LCI opened with a win over UC Davis at home, 82-48 and then followed that with two losses, at Furman, 63-87 and at home to Coppin State, 72-76. The latter they were installed as a 23-point favorite. St Joe's getting seven points here is a bargain to me. They have played better ball so far and Loyola has already shown they can't be trusted even as a big favorite. Play St Joe's. |
11-15-19 | South Dakota State +6.5 v. Nebraska | Top | 73-90 | Loss | -109 | 8 h 15 m | Show |
South Dakota is 3-1 S/U and 2-1 ATS to start the season. The Jack Rabbits are coming off a loss at USC, their first loss and non-cover this season, 66-84 as a 15-point dog. They play at Nebraska tonight. The Cornhuskers open with five home games, but have dropped their first two games to lower conference teams. They lost their opener to UC Riverside, 47-66 in a blowout loss a 16-point favorite, then lost in OT to Southern Utah, 78-79. The Huskers looking for that first win tonight against really a even better South Dakota State squad from what they have faced thus far. Until these Cornhuskers prove they can win, they shouldn't be laying these kinds of points. Take South Dakota State. |
11-15-19 | Oral Roberts +12 v. Iowa | 74-87 | Loss | -108 | 7 h 14 m | Show
Oral Roberts is 1-2 S/U and 2-1 ATS to start their season. The Golden Eagles opened the season with a road loss at Oklahoma State, 75-80, but covered the 16-point dog line. Then they returned home to beat Houston Baptist and cover the 8.5 points chalk line, 95-81 before their last game a loss at Tulsa, 67-74, just missing the 6.5-dog cover. Iowa opens the season with six home games and has won the first vs Southern Illinois, 87-60, covering the 23.5 point line. Then the Hawkeyes got shocked by Depaul, 78-93, failing to cover the 9.5 point chalk line. Oral Roberts has played well vs a big team already and Iowa has shown they can lay an egg at home as a big chalk. I'm taking the points here today with Oral Roberts. |
11-15-19 | Spurs +3.5 v. Magic | 109-111 | Win | 100 | 6 h 20 m | Show
The San Antonio Spurs are 5-6 S/U and 2-9 ATS to open the season. The Spurs have lost three straight both S/U and ATS. They are averaging 112.4 ppg while allowing 114.2 ppg. The good news is that they play the Magic tonight. Orlando has struggled this season to a 4-7 S/U mark and 4-6-1 ATS record. The Magic are coming off a win at home over the Sixers, 112-97. The Magic took seven games before they cracked the 100 point mark. Not convinced though that the Magic should be laying three points here tonight. The Spurs haven't shown they are very good at covering spread, but I'll take a chance on them tonight against this Magic team. Play San Antonio. |
11-14-19 | Bulls +12 v. Bucks | 115-124 | Win | 100 | 9 h 39 m | Show
Chicago Bulls are 4-7 S/U and 5-6 ATS on the season while the Milwaukee Bucks are 7-3 S/U and 5-5 ATS. Chicago coming off a win at home over the Knicks, 120-102. Still, they are just 2-3 their last five games. The Knicks are 2-4 on the road both S/U and ATS but averaging 108.7 ppg while allowing 108.5 ppg. The Bucks saw their four game win streak snapped two games ago by Utah, 100-103. They rebounded last game though with a win at Oklahoma City, 121-119. The Bucks won't be happy with anything less than an NBA Finals appearance this year. Milwaukee is 2-1 S/U and ATS at home and outscoring teams 123.3 to 116. I expect a lot of points tonight out of the Bucks and I don't believe Chicago will be able to keep up. Play Milwaukee. |
11-14-19 | Mavs -7.5 v. Knicks | 103-106 | Loss | -108 | 9 h 39 m | Show
Dallas Mavericks are off to a 6-4 S/U and 4-6 ATS season. The NY Knicks are just 2-9 S/U and 5-6 ATS to star the year. Dallas is coming off at loss at Boston, 106-116, failing to cover the 3-point dog line. The Mavs are a very good road team though, posting a 4-1 S/U and ATS mark this year and outscoring opponents 121.4 to 114.2. The Knicks wins are few and far between this year. They have lost two straight both S/U and ATS getting blown out at Chicago, 102-120 and also at home vs the Cavs, 87-108. The Knicks are just 1-3 both S/U and AT at home this year and getting outscored 94.8 to 109.3. Mavs tough road team and I don't mind laying those points here tonight. Play Dallas. |
11-14-19 | Siena +10.5 v. Harvard | 56-59 | Win | 100 | 8 h 11 m | Show
Both Siena and Harvard have started their respective seasons at 2-1 S/U. Siena opened with a home win over American, 96--80 and then lost on the road to Xavier, 63-81 and followed up with a home win vs St Bonny's, 78-65. Siena is 3-0 ATS on the season. They begin a four-game road trip here tonight at Harvard. Harvard one of the best Ivy league teams. They opened with a laugher against MIT, 84-27 and then lost on the road to Northeastern, 79-84 before returning home for a win over Maine, 68-46. This will be another tough test for Harvard here tonight. Harvard laying a lofty 10.5-points here tonight. Plus, Harvard has injuries. Guard Bryce Aiken is questionable with a calf injury and he's their best player, averaging 22.2 ppg. They are are going to be without Forward Seth Towns also. Not sure why this line is so big with a hurting Harvard team against a decent Siena squad. I'll take the points though. Play Siena. |
11-14-19 | Heat -4 v. Cavs | 108-97 | Win | 100 | 7 h 40 m | Show
Miami Heat 7-3 S/U and 6-2-2 ATS to start the season. The Heat have won five of their last seven games including last time out over Detroit, 117-108. The Heat are averaging 111.7 ppg and allowing 105.7 ppgs. The Cleveland Cavaliers are 2-1 S/U and 3-0 ATS their last three games - all on the road. Now they return home where they are 2-2 on the season but allowing 115.0 ppg. Miami the much better team here tonight. I'll lay the points with the Heat. Play Miami. |
11-13-19 | Tennessee-Martin +1.5 v. Western Illinois | 98-91 | Win | 100 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Tennessee Martin opened the season with a pair of home games. They beat STLCOP in a lopsided 106-48 win with no posted line. Then they lost to East Tennessee State, 75-92 as a 10-point home dog, failing to cover the spread. They take to the road for a 3-game road swing starting tonight at Western Illinois. Western Illinois opened at Indiana and bog blow out, losing to the Hoosiers 65-98 and failing to cover the 21-point dog line. They then returned home and lost again to Stetson, 75-77 as a 6.5-point home chalk. They will look for their first win of the season here tonight. Western a small favorite here tonight. But my own numbers have TMU as the favorite in this one. I'll take the road team here tonight. Play Tennessee Martin. |
11-13-19 | Ohio +5 v. Iona | 81-72 | Win | 100 | 8 h 5 m | Show
Ohio U Bobcats have opened with a pair of wins to start the season. They won their opener at St Bonny's 65-53, covering the spread as an 11-point road dog. Then they returned home and beat Heidelberg, 88-50 with no posted line. Iona has just one game under its belt and that was an OT road loss to LaSalle, 64-70 as a 1-point favorite. Iona is a 5 1/2 point home favorite here tonight. One of my numbers has this about the right line, but my other number has Ohio U as the team to win this game. I'm taking the points and looking for an outright Ohio win. Play Ohio U. |
11-13-19 | LSU +3 v. VCU | Top | 82-84 | Win | 100 | 7 h 4 m | Show |
LSU plays its second game of the season here tonight at VCU. The Tigers opened the season at home five days ago with a win over Bowling Green, 88-79, but didn't cover the 13-point chalk line. Not much on tap for LSU after tonight's contest as they have Nicholls State and UMBC on deck. VCU will play six straight home games to start the season. They opened with a win over St Francis-PA, 72-58 and then beat North Texas, 59-56. They failed to covers double-digit spreads in both of those games. One of my numbers has LSU as the team that can win this game tonight. Early in the season I have to lean on those numbers and I will take the points tonight. Play LSU. |
11-12-19 | Blazers -2 v. Kings | 99-107 | Loss | -103 | 11 h 44 m | Show
Portland snapped a four-game losing streak with a win at home over Atlanta in OT, 124-113. They had to cover 9-points in OT, but got there for their first cover in five games too. Sacramento has won three of its last four games and covered four straight. The Kings are off a win at Atlanta, 121-109. The Kings return home after a three game road trip. They are just 1-3 S/U in their last four home games both S/U and ATS. The Blazers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games. The Kings are just 1-8 ATS in their last nine vs the Western Conference and 1-6 against the Northwest division. The Blazers are 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven meetings with the Kings. I like them here tonight. Play Portland Trailblazers. |
11-12-19 | Texas-Arlington +5.5 v. Nevada | Top | 73-80 | Loss | -109 | 11 h 2 m | Show |
Texas Arlington is 2-0 S/U and 1-0 ATS to start their season. Arlington opened at home with a win over Texas-Dallas and then over a good Tulsa team, 73-59. Now Arlington hits the road for three straight tough opponents starting tonight with Nevada. Then they have to go to Oregon and then Gonzaga. Nevada lost its opener at home to Utah, 74-79 as a 5-point chalk and then beat Loyola Marymount at home, 72-67 but failing to cover the 9-point line. Tonight, Arlington a dog here against a team that has yet to cover. All my indicators are on the Arlington side here tonight. Play Texas Arlington. |
11-12-19 | Oral Roberts +6.5 v. Tulsa | 67-74 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 2 m | Show
Oral Roberts comes into its third game of the season tonight with a 1-1 S/U and 2-0 ATS mark. Oral Roberts put a bit of a scare into Oklahoma, losing 75-80 on the road as a 16-point dog. Then they returned home for a win over Houston Baptist, 95-81 for their second cover of the season. Tulsa opens with a 1-1 S/U and 0-2 ATS mark in its first two games. Tulsa also played Houston Baptist, winning by the slimmer margin of 80-72. Then they hit the road and lost at Texas Arlington, 59-73 and failing to cover the short 1.5 point dog line. Oral Roberts played Ok State to within just five points and now they get 6.5 at Tulsa. I'll take those points with a Oral Roberts team that looks better then they are getting credit for. Play Oral Roberts. |
11-12-19 | Cavs +10 v. 76ers | 97-98 | Win | 100 | 6 h 6 m | Show
Philadelphia 76ers could be without a key player tonight in shooting guard Ben Simmons who is suffering with a shoulder injury. Simmons averages 16.5 points per game this year. Even if Simmons plays, have to wonder how effective he will be with that ailing shoulder. The Cavaliers have won and covered two straight games, both on the road. They beat the Wizards 113-100 and then last time out beat the Knicks, 108-87. The Sixers are 6-3 S/U and 5-4 ATS on the season. Philly snapped a three-game losing streak last time out, beating Charlotte, 114-106. I like the Cavs here tonight, especially if Simmons is ailing. Play Cleveland. |
11-12-19 | William & Mary +11 v. Wofford | 80-79 | Win | 100 | 8 h 2 m | Show
Both these teams come into today's game 2-0 on the young season. William & Mary opens with three road games and has wins at High POint 70-56 and then last game at American, 79-70. Wofford opens with three home games and has beat Erskine 86-63 and then High Pint, 89-61, covering the latter. My own numbers have Wofford lower than what the oddsmaker have on this game. I think this game will be much closer than the 11-point Wofford line indicates. I'm taking the points here. Play William & Mary. |
11-11-19 | Samford +9.5 v. Belmont | 63-95 | Loss | -105 | 7 h 60 m | Show
Samford is 1-1 S/U and 0-1 ATS on the season. Samford lost their opening game at Morehead State in OT, 86-90 as a 3.5 point favorite. They got their first win last game at home over Kentucky Wesleyan, 68-42. Belmont looking for its first win to go with that one loss. Belmont lost its only game this year, 72-79 at Illinois State as a 5.5 point favorite. My numbers have this game a lot closer than the current 8 to 9 1/2 point line on Belmont. My own personal ratings have Belmont closer to a 3 to 6 points chalk here. Have to rely on my numbers a bit more early in the year with not a lot to go off of. I'm going to take the points with Samford here on Monday. |
11-10-19 | Hawks v. Blazers -8.5 | 113-124 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show
The Atlanta Hawks are 3-5 and 4-4 to start the season. The Hawks have lost two straight games both S/U and ATS. They are off a loss at home to the Kings, 109-121. They go back on the road today with a long road trip to the West coast to play the Blazers. The Portland Trailblazers are 3-6 S/U and 4-4-1 ATS to start the season. Portland started the season in fine fashion, winning their first two of three and three of five. Since then they have lost four straight games. The Blazers look to snap that losing streak here tonight at home against a poor Hawks club. This is the kind of team that Portland needs to get well again. I'm looking for a blowout win late tonight. Play Portland. |
11-09-19 | South Dakota State +3.5 v. CS Bakersfield | 93-91 | Win | 100 | 25 h 10 m | Show
South Dakota State is 2-0 S/U and 1-0 ATS to start it's season. The JackRabbits opened with a win at home over Texas Rio Grande, 70-57 and then a home win over Peru State, 86-58. The JackRabbits hit the road now for three straight games beginning with today at Cal State Bakersfield and then to USC and Nebraska. Cal Bakersfield opened with a home win over Notre Dame de Namur Argo, 103-51. The Road Runners won't have an easy as a task here tonight against the Jack Rabbits. South Dakota State was an impressive 24-9 last year and a NIT postseason spot. I'm a bit surprised that Bakersfield is a home favorite here against a tough opponent like SD State. I'm going to take those points. Play South Dakota State. |
11-09-19 | Oklahoma v. Minnesota +5 | 71-62 | Loss | -112 | 23 h 11 m | Show
Oklahoma began it's season with a home win over Texas San Antonio, 85-67. The Sonners covered the 13-point line. Minnesota also had an easy opponent, winning at home over Cleveland State, 85-50 as a 21.5-point favorite. This game will be played on a neutral site at Sioux Falls, SD. Minnesota will stay on the road after this game, travelling to Butler and then to Utah. Oklahoma has a lot of newcomers this year with just a few players returning. This game will be a matchup of which team will gell the soonest with their core of new players. Both teams have a lot of new faces. Minnesota showed it can shoot well and that should serve them well here. I like the Gophers in this one plus the points. Play Minnesota. |
11-09-19 | Kansas State v. UNLV +5 | 60-56 | Win | 100 | 19 h 11 m | Show
Kansas State opened their season with a win at home over North Dakota State, 67-54. The Wildcats were 11-point favorites and just got the cover. Today, they travel to Nevada to take on UNLV. UNLV also opened their season with a win. They beat Indiana-Purdue at home, 86-71, covering the 11.5 point line. UNLV has the much more difficult early schedule with Cal and UCLA on deck. Kansas State has Monmouth then Arkansas Pine Bluff. I like UNLV on its home court getting points. Take the home dog here. Play UNLV. |
11-09-19 | San Diego State +4 v. BYU | 76-71 | Win | 100 | 19 h 10 m | Show
San Diego State opened up the season in fine fashion with a win at home over Texas Southern. The Aztecs are one of the teams expected to content for the title in the Mountain West this year. The Aztecs also got the cover in their first game, covering the 15-point chalk line. Sdg State travels to Provo today to take on BY and then returns home in four days to face Grand Canyon College. BYU opened the season with a home win over Cal State Fullerton. The Cougars play their first three games at home with Southern Utah up next. The Cougars covered their 14.5 point line over Fullerton ina a 76-58 win. Still, my own numbers actually favor San Diego State in this game and we are getting 4 to 5 points. I'm all over the visitor in this one. Play San Diego State. |
11-09-19 | Monmouth +8 v. Hofstra | 74-94 | Loss | -110 | 19 h 9 m | Show
Monmouth opened its season on the road at Lehigh, winning as a away dog, 66-62. Monmouth actually starts with five straight road games including Kansas State, Kansas and Pittsburgh after today. Hofstra opens with a pair of home games, losing their first game to San Jose State, 71-79. Hofstra was a 17-point favorite and lost outright. That leads to today's game. I know it's early, but my own numbers have a distinct advantage to the visitor here plus the generous points. I won't be surpsed at all with an outright Monmouth win. Play Monmouth. |
11-08-19 | Illinois-Chicago v. Memphis -19 | Top | 46-92 | Win | 100 | 18 h 1 m | Show |
Memphis has a young team as they enter 2019-20 season. There will likely be growing pains this season as this team develops. They can build though on what is a very good group of freshmen. Also expect this team to be very quick and uptempo, so covering lines like tonight that approach 20 points shouldn't be a problem. Illinois-Chicago won't shy away from the uptempo offense, so this should really be a high scoring game. But for me, Memphis just has too much talent for this ICU team. Play Memphis. |
11-07-19 | Seattle University v. Washington State -2.5 | 54-85 | Win | 100 | 9 h 8 m | Show
Washington State Cougars a small home favorite here over Seattle U. A little of a rivalry of these Washington teams. The Cougars looking to improve on a terrible 2018-19 campaign that saw them go 11-21. Seattle won this game last year, 78-69. Washington State will be guided by new head coach Kyle Smith. They also return five players from last year's team. The Cougars have done well vs the WAC, going 11-1 ATS their last 12 tries. I'm looking for the new Cougars' head coach to make a statement early here against these smaller teams. He doesn't want a repeat of last year. I'm taking Washington State and laying the small number. |
11-06-19 | Magic v. Mavs -7.5 | Top | 106-107 | Loss | -104 | 9 h 25 m | Show |
Orlando Magic now 2-5 S/U and 1-5-1 ATS on the year. The Magic had to play last night at Oklahoma City and while they hung around most of the night, they fell back late in a loss, 94-102. The Magic have yet to crack the 100 point mark this season in their seven games. Might be difficult tonight too. They are playing the second of a back-to-back spot and that's always tough on a team. Conversely, the Mavs have yet to score UNDER 100 points in any of their six games. In fact, they are averaging 116.7 ppg this season. The Magic will have to keep the Mavs scoring down or else they won't come close in this game. Still, bad spot for the Magic playing back-to-back against a high scoring team. Play the Mavericks |
11-06-19 | Notre Dame +11 v. North Carolina | 65-76 | Push | 0 | 8 h 50 m | Show
Both these clubs opening their respective season tonight. Notre Dame did have a couple of exhibition tune-ups, a win over Captial University 72-43 and a win over Bellarime, 61-51. Tonight will be much more difficult as they are a double-digit dog to No. 9 North Carolina. These clubs open with an ACC matchup, first time the conference will be playing so many conference games before January. Notre Dame is led by John Mooney, who led the ACC in rebounds last year. Mooney is also a preseason all-ACC first team. Mooney is one of the few players to average a double-double. North Carolina will be without their guard, Brandon Robinson, tonight who will miss with a ankle injury. Can't go crazy in these early games, but I will take the Irish tonight plus the points. Play Notre Dame. |

11-05-19 | St. Mary's -4 v. Wisconsin | 65-63 | Loss | -109 | 10 h 52 m | Show
Late action on the hardcourt tonight is a good one with 20th ranked St Mary's playing Wisconsin in South Dakota. St Mary's is expecting big things this year as they return 88.2% of their scoring from last season and losing just one starter. This is also a very diverse team with nine international players, more than any other Div 1 team in basketball. Wisconsin coming off a fine season that saw the Badgers go 23-11 and 14-6 in Big 10. The Badgers lost to Oregon in the NCAA tournament. Wisconsin returns three starters but lost it's best player in Ethan Happ. It's been over 40 years since these teams last met. On this neutral court that favors Wisconsin a bit (6 hour drive from Madison), I'm still taking the more talented Gaels here tonight laying a small number. Play St Mary's. |
11-05-19 | Georgia Tech +7.5 v. NC State | 82-81 | Win | 100 | 22 h 9 m | Show
Georgia Tech opens college play against an ACC opponent, NC State. The Jackets closed last regular season with a win in Raleigh, 63-61 as Moses Wright hit 62 percent from the field for 18 points and eight rebounds. Wright looks to duplicate that effort here tonight in the team's opener in Raleigh. Tech finished last season with a 14-18 overall record and 6-12 in the ACC. They begin their fourth season under HC Josh Pastner. NC State was 24-12 last year and 9-9 in the ACC and begins its third season under HC Kevin Keatts. The Wolfpack made it to the quarterfinals of the NIT last year. What I like about this Tech team is that they return their top three scorers from last year. In fact they return their top 11 players from last year. They bolstered the roster with two nice transfers, Jordan Usher from USC and Bubba Parham from VMI. I like what Tech returns here this year and the points might be more than NC State should lay to a much improved Yellow Jacket squad this year. I'm taking Georgia Tech. |
11-05-19 | Magic v. Thunder -2.5 | 94-102 | Win | 100 | 9 h 59 m | Show
Both these clubs off to slow starts at 2-4 on the season. The Orlando Magic are also doing bad vs the number at 1-4-1 ATS. Thunder doing better though at 4-2 ATS. Orlando has lost two straight games including last time out at home vs Denver, 87-91. This Magic team has yet to crack the century mark in scoring in six attempts. They average just 93.5 ppg and allow 98.2 ppg. The Thunder off a home win over New Orleans, 115-104. OKC averaging 104.3 ppg and allowing 101.8 ppg. Don't expect a lot of points in this game with two of the lowest scoring teams in the NBA. I'll take the home team here. Play Oklahoma City. |
11-05-19 | Arkansas-Little Rock v. Missouri State -13.5 | 67-66 | Loss | -105 | 22 h 39 m | Show
Opening night for both of these teams. Arkansas Little Rock begins the second year of Darrell Walker coaching era. Little Rock will have their work cut out for them against a very good Bears team here tonight. Mo State finished among the top of the Missouri Valley conference. Little Rock has never beaten Missouri State, with an 0-7 lifetime record. A lot of new faces this year to the Little Rock squad. For me, Missouri State always returns with a good squad that will compete for the conference championship. I'll lay the points here with the home team. Play Missouri State. |
11-05-19 | Bradley -5 v. St. Joe's | Top | 81-86 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 53 m | Show |
Bradley had an exhibition game that doesn't count in their record, but it was an cakewalk over Millikin, 91-52. Now the real season begins here at St Joe's. Bradley had a nice season last year, going 20-15 winning the Missour Valley Tourney title and going to the NCAA tournament. What I like about this year's edition is that the Braves return their top three scorers and five of their top seven from last year. Darrell Brown is back after leading the team in scoring last year. St Joe's was 14-19 last year and just 6-12 in the Atlantic 10. Doesn't look much better this year as the Hawks are picked to finish 13th in the conference. This Bradley team showed it can win on the road, taking 10 away games last year. I like Bradley a lot here tonight. Play Bradley. |
11-04-19 | Bucks v. Wolves +6.5 | 134-106 | Loss | -102 | 9 h 24 m | Show
Milwaukee Bucks are 4-2 S/U and ATS to start the season. The Bucks have won two straight games including their last at home to Toronto, 115-105. The Bucks are averaging 119.2 ppg and allowing 111 ppg for a +8.2 scoring margin this year. The Timberwolves are coming off a road win at Washington, 131-109. The Wolves are avearging 118 ppg and allowing 112 ppg this season. The Bucks are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games vs a team with a winning record. The home team has covered five of the last seven in this series. I like getting 6 or 6.5 points here at home with the Wolves. I won't be surprised at all by a Minnesota straight-up win tonight. Play Minnesota. |
11-03-19 | Jazz +4.5 v. Clippers | 94-105 | Loss | -107 | 11 h 52 m | Show
The Utah Jazz and the LA Clippers have both begun the season with 4-2 records. The Jazz are coming off a road loss to the Kings, 101-102. The loss dropped their spread record to 2-4. The Jazz have arguably the best defense in the league once again, holding opponents to just 94 ppg this season. These teams played in Utah this last week with the Jazz taking that game, 110-96. The Clippers are off a home win over the Spurs, 103-97. They are 3-3 vs the spread this year. The Clippers are averaging 114.2 ppg this year and allowing 109.5 ppg. Tough to give a good defensive team points, so I'm going to take those points here tonight with the visitor. Play Utah. |
11-02-19 | 76ers v. Blazers -1.5 | 129-128 | Loss | -104 | 15 h 8 m | Show
Philly takes its undefeated 4-0 record on the road tonight as they make the long trip from the East coast to the Northern Pacific to face Portland. This is the start of a four game Western swing for the Sixers that will take them to Phoenix, Utah and Denver in coming days. The Sixers are 4-0 S/U and 3-1 ATS. They are off a win over the Timberwolves at home, 117-95. Philly is averaging 111.5 ppg and allowing 100.5 ppg. Portland has had a couple nights off to rest up for this game. The Blazers are 3-2 S/U and 4-1 ATS on the season. The Blazers are coming off a road win at Oklahoma City, 102-99. In fact, they just finished a four-game road swing that saw the club go 3-1 S/U and 4-0 ATS. Portland is averaging 111 ppg and allowing 110.2 ppg. Portland laying 1.5-points tonight on its home court looks like a bargain to me. Philly had to make the long trip and that's always tough to do. Take Portland. |
11-01-19 | Spurs -6.5 v. Warriors | Top | 127-110 | Win | 100 | 10 h 24 m | Show |
I'll be looking at the NBA game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors. Well, it's officially panic time in Golden State. Not only are the Warriors just 1-3 to start the season, but they have been blown out in both home games. They are coming off one of those blowout losses at home to the Phoenix Suns of all teams, 110-121. And worse of all, the Warriors fell behind by 20 early in the game and never got close. That was the first game the Warriors were even a favorite. To make matters even worse, now the Warriors will be without their star guard in Stephen Curry who broke his hand. The Spurs are 3-1 S/U and 0-4 ATS on the season. The Spurs lost their first game of the season last time out at the Clippers, 97-103. They had won their first three games, all at home, but failed to cover any of those. The Spurs are averaging 113.5 ppg and allowing 111.5 ppg this season. Until I see some major improvements in the Warrior team and the return of some healthy players, I'll continue to go against them like I have in just about every game this year. |
11-01-19 | Lakers v. Mavs +2 | 119-110 | Loss | -115 | 9 h 24 m | Show
Two teams that have both started the season with 3-1 records meet tonight as the Mavericks host the Lakers. The Lakers are 3-1 both S/U and ATS after four games. LA is coming off a home win over Memphis, 120-91. The Lakers have really had all four games at home since they opened the season vs the Clippers at the Staple Center too but were the visitor. Now the Lakers take to the road for their first away game. Dallas is coming off a home win over Denver, 109-106. The Mavs only loss came at home to the Blazers, 119-121. They are scoring 114.8 ppg and allowing 110.8 ppg. The Mavs are a legitimate contender this year in the West. Tonight they get 1.5 points at home from the Lakers. I like Dallas here to win this one straight up. Play Dallas. |
10-31-19 | Nuggets -4 v. Pelicans | Top | 107-122 | Loss | -107 | 11 h 2 m | Show |
Denver has started the season quickly with a 3-1 S/U and 2-2 ATS mark. Denver suffered its first loss of the season last time out at home to Dallas, 106-109. The Nuggets are averaging 105.8 ppg and allowing 102.5 ppg this season. Denver has covered both of its road games this year, outscoring those two opponents by 7.5 points. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans are still looking for their first win of the season after a 0-4 S/U and 1-3 ATS start to the year. The Pelicans give up a lot of points, at least 123 in each of their first four games. They are averaging 121 ppg and giving up 128.3 ppg thus far. The Pelicans are just 2-11 ATS in their last 13 home games and 5-20 ATS their last 20 dating back to last season. I like Denver here tonight laying the small number. Play the Nuggets. |
10-31-19 | Heat -6.5 v. Hawks | 106-97 | Win | 100 | 9 h 33 m | Show
Miami Heat off to a 3-1 S/U and 3-0-1 ATS start to the season. The Heat are averaging 118 ppg and allowing 110 ppg. The Heat are coming off a win at home over these same Atlanta Hawks, 112-97 as 7.5-point favorites. Meanwhile, the Hawks have lost two straight games to drop to 2-2 on the year and 3-1 ATS. The Hawks are averaging 105 ppg and allowing 104 ppg. In their two home games the Hawks have averaged 103 ppg and allowed 102. Still early in the season, but I like the way the Heat are playing so far. I'm going to lay the points here tonight. Play Miami. |
10-30-19 | Rockets v. Wizards +8 | Top | 159-158 | Win | 100 | 9 h 57 m | Show |
Houston Rockets have started the season with a 2-1 S/U and 0-3 ATS record. The Rockets opened the season with three games at home, winning two of the three but failing to cover any of those games. They are off a win over Oklahoma City, 116-112 as a 10-point favorite. Now they take to the road for the first time this year. Washington is 1-2 S/U and 3-0 ATS. The Wizards started the season all on the road, at Dallas, OKC and San Antonio. While they only beat Oklahoma City, they did cover all three. Now they host their first game of the season. The big game is not this Houston vs Washington matchup, but rather the one on the diamond tonight for the World Series crown. Still, these teams might draw some interest and I like the host here. They are getting eight-points and have covered every game thus far. Take the Washington Wizards tonight plus the points. |
10-29-19 | Grizzlies +12 v. Lakers | 91-120 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 55 m | Show
The Memphis Grizzlies are 1-2 S/U and ATS to start their season. The Grizzlies won their first game of the young season last time out at home over Brooklyn, 134-133. The Grizzlies are averaging 112.2 ppg and allowing 121.0 ppg. The Lakers are 2-1 both S/U and ATS to start their season. The Lakers lost their opener to the Clippers and have won their last two games. Memphis is 7-3 ATS off one-day of rest as they are tonight. The dog has done well in this series, with the underdog covering seven of the last nine meetings. Grizzlies score a lot of points and give up a lot, but getting double digits might just be too much here tonight. I'll take the visitor. Play Memphis. |
10-27-19 | Heat v. Wolves -6.5 | 109-116 | Win | 100 | 8 h 48 m | Show
The Miami Heat are 2-0 to start the season, averaging 113.5 points per game and a point differential of +12. The Minnesota Timberwolves are also 2-0 to start the season with a 124 points for and 112.5 points against. The Wolves have a +11.5 point differential. Something has to give today as one of these teams will suffer their first loss of the year. The Wolves wins impress me more since they were both on the road at Charlotte and Brooklyn. The main reason I'm taking Minnesota here is that Miami had to play last night and win a shootout in overtime over Milwaukee. Then they had to travel to Minnesota and play tonight. I expect them to be a bit tired here tonight. I'm taking Minnesota. |
10-26-19 | Clippers -9 v. Suns | Top | 122-130 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 24 m | Show |
The LA Clippers won the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes over the off season. So far it has looked like it has paid off well, with a 2-0 start to the season. The Clippers started off with a win over intrastate rival LA Lakers and then went to Golden State and trounced the Warriors 141-122. Leonard has averaged 25.5 points so far in the two games. Phoenix started with a win at home over Sacramento, 124-95 and then lost at Denver in a close matchup yesterday, 107-108. Playing the Clippers right now looks difficult enough, but add to that fact that the Suns had to play last night and then travel back home tonight and it's a daunting task. I'm taking the Clippers here tonight. |
10-25-19 | Jazz +3.5 v. Lakers | 86-95 | Loss | -102 | 12 h 38 m | Show
The Lakers playing their second game of the season here tonight. LA lost their opener to the Clippers, 102-112. The Lakers added Anthony Davis in the off-season to go with Lebron James. The Jazz started their season a winner over visiting Oklahoma City, 100-95. Though the Jazz did fail to cover the 9-point favorite line. The Jazz held the Thunder to just 38.6% shooting from the field. The Jazz defense looks like it has picked up where it left off last year, which is ranked in the top three in defensive efficiency. Lebron James looked a bit rusty in game one, hitting on only 7-of-19 from the field for 18 points. The big issue is the Lakers lack of a bench. They are missing Kyle Kuzma and Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard looks horrible. The Utah defense will concentrate on the Lakers two super stars and let the bench do what it can't do anyways. I like the Jazz here tonight with their defense. Play Utah Jazz. |
10-24-19 | Clippers -1.5 v. Warriors | 141-122 | Win | 100 | 11 h 19 m | Show
The Clippers play their second game of the season here tonight. They looked pretty impressive in their win vs the Lakers on opening night, 112-102, as a 3.5 point home dog. The Clippers got good performances out of Davis and Lebron, but not good enough. Now the Clippers are favored at Golden State, something you don't see very often. The Warriors had to face Kawhi Leonard in the finals with Toronto. Now he returns as a Clipper to be a thorn in the side of the Warriors again. The Warriors will look a bit different in their season opener tonight. They will be without Kevin Durant who took his injured Achilles to Brooklyn and Klay Thompson will miss tonight's game with a knee injury. The Clippers have an excellent bench and it showed in the game with the Lakers. They also held the Lakers to just 43% shooting. The Clips are catching the Warriors at their most vulnerable and that's why they are laying a few points here tonight. But I like the new-look Clippers and expect another excellent performance tonight. Play the LA Clippers. |
10-23-19 | Wolves +3.5 v. Nets | 127-126 | Win | 100 | 7 h 40 m | Show
Minnesota finished the preseason with a 2-3 record in five games and a -1.8 point differential. The Brooklyn Nets were 3-1 in their four games with a +12.3 point differential. The Nets were busy in the offseason, adding Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. They will have to break a 3-game win streak by the Wolves over the Nets. Of course they won't have the services of Durant who is out indefinitely with that Achilles injury. So they will have to rely more on Irving if they hope to make the playoffs again this year. Minnesota pretty much looks the same as last year, with the exception of Derrick Rose who is gone from this team. I expect the Wolves to keep this one close and I'll take the points tonight. Play Minnesota. |
10-23-19 | Bulls -3 v. Hornets | Top | 125-126 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 10 m | Show |
Chicago didn't have the best preseason, but we have to not put much into those numbers. They shot just 41% as a team during the preseason in their five games. The Bulls had a 2-3 record with a +0.4 point differential. The Hornets were just 1-4 in the preseason with a -2.6 point differential. Both these clubs missed the postseason last year. The Hornets are much different looking with many players gone from last year. The current roster holds many question marks with unknown players ready to start. The addition of a key few vets to Chicago gives them a bigger edge to start the season. The Hornets are just too inexperienced at this point. I'm going to lay the points on the road with the Bulls. Play Chicago. |
10-22-19 | Lakers -2 v. Clippers | 102-112 | Loss | -105 | 60 h 55 m | Show
The LA Lakers haven't made the playoffs the last four seasons, this despite adding Lebron James last season. The big move for LA is the acquisition of Anthony Davis. Dwight Howard is also back with another stint with the Lakers. Other new faces are Avery Bradley, Jared Dudley and Quinn Cook. Lets face it, Lebron is getting older and the Lakers need to take advantage of this situation now. The addition of Davis and new faces could just be what the team needed. The Clippers were the big winner in the off season, picking up Kawhi Leonard. They also added Paul George. These superstars will make the Clippers an immediate threat to win the NBA Championship. However, it came at a price. They had to part with a bevy of young players and number one picks. George is out here tonight, he's still recuperating from off season shoulder surgery. The Lakers are a small favorite here on opening night. I'm going to play the Lakers as they take advantage of the Clippers without George in the lineup. Play the LAKERS. |
06-07-19 | Raptors v. Warriors -4.5 | Top | 105-92 | Loss | -103 | 18 h 5 m | Show |
Game 4 here in Northern California sees the Toronto Raptors up 2-1 in this series. The Warriors don't want to go down 1-3 in this series either. In game three they were without Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney. Durant still won't play here tonight, but the good news is that Thompson will be back and Looney is a possibility. Thompson is a key cog in this offense and they can ill afford to do with out the shooting guard. This is a game where I fully expect the Warriors to rebound from that poor performance in game three. This is too good a team to not show up again here tonight. In addition, the Warriors seem to play their best when their backs are up against the wall as they are tonight. This might be the closest to a must win this Warriors team has seen this season. I like the Warriors to rise to the occasion. Play Golden State. |
06-05-19 | Raptors +5.5 v. Warriors | 123-109 | Win | 100 | 34 h 39 m | Show
This best of seven series is now tied at 1-1 after the Warriors took game 2 in Toronto. The glaring issue here today is the injury to Klay Thompson of the Warriors. Thompson hurt his hamstring in the last game and officially is questionable today. Kevin Durant is also listed as Questionable though some question if he will return at all. It's a revolving door in the injury department for the Warriors right now. The Warriors came in at 5 1/2 point favorites. The Warriors miss Thompson's shooting and defense. Thompson says he will go in game three, but how effective he will be is yet to be seen. Thompson is really a key to this game today. Stephen Curry was also battling an illness in game 2. So lots of questions on this Warriors team for game three. I'm going to have to take the Raptors here plus the points in game three. Play a healthier Toronto tonight. |
05-25-19 | Bucks v. Raptors -2.5 | 94-100 | Win | 100 | 29 h 27 m | Show
The Raptors have a golden opportunity to close out the Milwaukee Bucks in their best of seven playoff series. The Raptors took game five in Milwaukee on Thursday and now look to advance to the NBA finals here on Saturday. Standing in their way was the NBA's best regular season team in the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are 10-4 in the playoffs while the Raptors are 11-6. The Raptors know they can't go back and take game 7 at Milwaukee so I look for tonight's to be the best effort the Raptors can put forward. Play the Raptors. |
05-23-19 | Raptors v. Bucks -7 | 105-99 | Loss | -107 | 10 h 52 m | Show
This best of seven Eastern conference finals tied at 2-games each as the series moves back to Milwaukee tonight for game 3. The bad news here is that the Raptors star player Kawhi Leonard is dealing with an injury. Moreover, Kyle Lowry has also been nursing injuries and these are the two guys directly responsible for this series being tied right now. Leonard is dealing with leg soreness and has to play through the pain right now. Lowry is also playing in pain, but looks to be improving. The issue is that the Raptors have lost and failed to cover games 1 and 2 in Milwaukee. The Bucks have been amazing, covering six of their last eight and 10 of their last 13 games. The Raptors at 100% would have trouble playing in Milwaukee tonight, but with their two stars hobbled even a little bit by injuries, this will just put them even further in the hole. I'm taking Milwaukee. |
05-20-19 | Warriors -3.5 v. Blazers | Top | 119-117 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 36 m | Show |
The Trailblazers face elimination here tonight as they are down 0-3. They had another chance at a win in game three leading by 13 points at the half. However, a 13-point third quarter followed by a 20-point fourth quarter and the Blazers lost 99-110. That makes two games in a row that they have led by double digits only to lose. Makes you wonder how they can have any confidence in any lead they get, knowing that the Warriors have the ability to come back. Their can't be a lot left in the tank tonight for the Blazers. I'm taking Golden State as they look for the sweep. |
05-15-19 | Raptors v. Bucks -6 | Top | 100-108 | Win | 100 | 9 h 45 m | Show |
The two best teams in the East square off for the chance to go to the NBA finals. The Raptors had that amazing finish to their game 7 with Kwahi Leonard hitting that buzzer-beater to win the series. Have to wonder if the Raptors will have a bit of a letdown going into game one here. The Bucks have more rest, having dispatched the Celtics in relative easy fashion. You can make a case for either team here, but I do like the well rested Bucks to show why they were the best team in the NBA this season. Take Milwaukee. |
05-12-19 | 76ers +6.5 v. Raptors | 90-92 | Win | 100 | 7 h 47 m | Show
Game 7 here in the Eastern conference semifinals for the right to advance and face the Milwaukee Bucks in the conference championships. This series has been evenly matched with both teams covering three games each. Philly has covered two of their three at home and Toronto has done the same. Kawhi Leonard has been the star for Toronto, but really has not always receive much support. The Sixers start his Joel Embiid, but illness has slowed him down in this series at times. Embiid played bad in game five with that illness, but rebounded for a fine game six performance where he had 17 points and 12 rebounds. This has been a close series and I find taking the points just too much to pass on here. I'm taking the dog in this one. Take Philadelphia. |
05-12-19 | Blazers v. Nuggets -5.5 | Top | 100-96 | Loss | -105 | 3 h 18 m | Show |
IT's game 7 between the Blazers and Nuggets for the right to move to the Conference Championship series against the Warriors. The Blazers forced this game seven with a win at home in game six, 119-108. As I predicted in game one, these might be the most evenly matched teams in the NBA Playoffs and they have provided it here. The Nuggets have covered four of the six in this series though including two of three at home. A big concern for the Blazers here in game seven is center Niola Jokic. Jovic has been someone that the Blazers have been unable to contain. The game 7 experience goes to the Nuggets in this one and with Jokic being a force, I look for the Nuggets to cover and advance in this one. Take Denver. |
05-10-19 | Warriors +7.5 v. Rockets | 118-113 | Win | 100 | 6 h 10 m | Show
The Warriors lead this best of seven series 3-2, but they lost a big cog in their wheel in Forward Kevin Durant. Durant was injured in the last game in what at first appeared to be a Achille's heal. However, now it looks to be a calf injury and while he won't play the rest of this series, might return in the next if the Warriors advance. The loss of Durant was the second big loss this post season, as DeMarcus Cousins was lost in the first series. Still, we are talking the Warriors here and they still have Stephen Curry and company left to contend with. And yet the Rockets are a 7-point favorite here tonight. Every game in this series has been close and even without Durant, I do expect the Warriors to be in this game. They could still easily lose this series, but the points here tonight are just too many to pass on. Take the Warriors. |
05-08-19 | Rockets v. Warriors -6 | 99-104 | Loss | -106 | 9 h 27 m | Show
Houston and Golden State are tied at 2-2 in this series after Houston took both games at home. The Rockets won game four 112-108. Now the series moves back to Northern California for game five. This series has been close, with the Warriors winning both games at home but by margins of six and four. Last year, this is the same spot these teams were in, tied at two, but the Rockets won game five in Houston and Golden State took games six and seven. Draymond Green of Golden State probably put it best after game four. "We didn't match their physicality until the last four minutes of the game," he told reporters after the Game 4 loss. "It's been that way for about the last 96 minutes of the series, so we have to correct that." The Warriors don't want to go back to Houston down 2-3 and I expect them to put forth their best effort of the series here tonight. I'm laying the points with the home team tonight. Play Golden State. |
05-08-19 | Celtics v. Bucks -8.5 | Top | 91-116 | Win | 100 | 7 h 53 m | Show |
Bucks can close out their series with the Celtics tonight on their home court. The Bucks, leading 2-1, took game four at Boston to take a commanding 3-1 lead in this best of seven series. Since their game one loss to the Celtics, Milwaukee has kept the Boston offense in check, holding them to 40, 43 and 38 percent from the field. They have also out rebounded the Celtics in the last three games. Moreover, Milwaukee has now covered seven of their eight playoff games this season. Boston won game one of the series by 22-points. Since then, they really haven't come close, losing by 21, 7 and 12 points in games two thru four. The Celtics are now 3-7 ATS their last 10 games vs a team with a 60% winning record. I believe the Bucks took the wind out of the Celtics sails with that game four win at Boston. Boston knows they can't take three straight from the NBA's best team during the regular season. I look for Milwaukee to wrap up this series tonight. Take Milwaukee. |
05-07-19 | Blazers +5 v. Nuggets | 98-124 | Loss | -105 | 8 h 33 m | Show
This best of seven series between the Trailblazers and Nuggets is now tied at 2-2 after a Denver win in game four, 116-112. Of all the NBA series currently going on, I look at these two teams as the most evenly matched. That's why I like the dog here in this game. The Blazers have been very good following an ATS loss, going 15-7-1 ATS their last 23 games. Conversely, the Nuggets are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS win. The road team and dog has taken four of the last five in this series. I look for that trend to continue here with these evenly matched teams. I'm taking the points. Play Portland. |
05-07-19 | 76ers +6.5 v. Raptors | 89-125 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 57 m | Show
The Sixers and Raptors are now tied at 2-2 in this best of seven series after the Raptors took game four at Philadelphia, 101-96. So far this has been a low scoring series with all four games going UNDER the total. Philly has also been a good covering team in these playoffs, with a 6-3 ATS record in nine games. The dog has been a good play in this series of late, with the dog taking four of the last five against the spread. I look for the Sixers to return with a win here tonight. Take Philadelphia. |
05-06-19 | Bucks v. Celtics -1.5 | 113-101 | Loss | -105 | 7 h 49 m | Show
Boston in a pretty much must-win spot here today as they down 1-2 in their best of seven series with the Bucks. The Celtics stole a game in Milwaukee, winning game one 112-90. They lost game two at Milwaukee, 102-123 and then lost game three at the Garden in Boston, 116-123. A loss tonight by the Celtics and the series looks to be lost. The Celtics do have history on their side in this matchup. They are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 meetings with the Bucks and 6-2 ATS at home. In addition, the favorite is 9-4 in their last 13 meetings. I look for the best effort tonight to be on the side of the Celtics. Take Boston. |
05-05-19 | Raptors v. 76ers -1.5 | Top | 101-96 | Loss | -110 | 14 h 41 m | Show |
The Philadelphia 76ers can take a commanding 3-1 lead in their best of seven series with the Raptors with a win today at home. The Sixers lost game one in Toronto, but then rebounded for wins in game 2 and game 3. The last game coming at home and a Philly blowout, 116-95. Philly saw it's shooting percentage skyrocket from 39% in games 1 and 2 to 51% in game three. They have also out rebounded the Raptors in all three games by a combined 169-142. I like the Sixers here in game four. They are controlling the boards, getting second shots and if they shoot anywhere near what they did in game three, this will be another Sixers blowout. Play Philadelphia. |
05-04-19 | Warriors v. Rockets -3 | Top | 121-126 | Win | 100 | 10 h 1 m | Show |
The Houston Rockets are in that much dreaded "Must WIN" situation. As they return home to Houston they are down 0-2 in their best of seven series with the Warriors. The Warriors won game one, 104-100 and then game two 115-109. The Warriors shot 51% from the field in game one and 46% from the field in game two. Rebounds have been a big issue in this series, with the Rockets grabbing 39 in game one and 47 in game two. However, the Warriors grabbed 52 boards in both games to dominate that part of the game with Houston and why the Rockets are down 0-2 here today. I expect this is the game for Houston to pull out all the stops and they will have to hit those boards if they hope to stay alive in this series. Play HOUSTON. |
05-03-19 | Nuggets +4 v. Blazers | 137-140 | Win | 100 | 12 h 12 m | Show
The best of seven series is even at 1-1 as the series moves to the Northwest at Portland here for game three. Denver won game one of the series, 121-113 and then lost game two 90-97. Denver went from shooting 51% in game one to just 35% in game two. It will be difficult for Denver to shoot much worse here in game three and we shouldn't expect that. "We couldn't make a damn shot," head coach Mike Malone told reporters after the game. "We just have to be better. We have to come out more physical, be ready to play in Portland, and those shots will fall." The Nuggets have done well in this series, going 6-2-1 ATS their last nine overall vs the Blazers. They are also 5-2 ATS their last seven in Portland. I look for Denver to rebound here tonight and get those shots to start falling. Take Denver. |
05-03-19 | Bucks v. Celtics -2 | 123-116 | Loss | -106 | 43 h 5 m | Show
Game three of this best of seven series moves to the Garden at Boston. The Celtics took game one and with it home court advantage. The Bucks rebounded in game two with a blowout win of their own. The Celtics are a small favorite here of 1 1/2 or 2 points. The Celtics are 18-7 ATS at home their last 25 against a team with a winning road record. They are also 8-2 ATS in their last 10 conference semifinals, 6-1 ATS their last seven and 8-2 ATS their last 10 games. These teams have met twice this year in Boston with the teams splitting their two games at the Garden. The Celtics still do well at home vs Milwaukee, going 6-1 ATS in their last seven meetings in Boston. In addition, the favorite is 9-3 ATS their last 12 meetings and the Celtics are 11-4 ATS their last 15 overall meetings. I like Boston to take this game three at home. Play Boston. |
04-30-19 | Rockets +5.5 v. Warriors | 109-115 | Loss | -105 | 22 h 35 m | Show
Golden State took game one of this series in what was a very low scoring game, 104-100. Despite the low score, the Warriors still hit 51% of their shots from the field. Houston hit 42% of their shots from the field. The Rockets are now 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games and 5-0 ATS in their last five vs the NBA Pacific division. The Rockets have also been a great under team. Houston is 0-4 O/U in their last four road games, 6-20-2 O/U in their last 28 games with 1 day rest and 6-19-1 O/U in their last 26 overall games. The Warriors have had their issues covering games, evidenced by their 10-23-1 ATS mark in their last 34 home games. They are also 1-4 ATS in their last five conference semifinal games. Surprisingly, the Warriors have also been a good under team. They are 0-4 O/U in their last four conference semifinals and 5-16 O/U in their last 21 games playing on one day rest. They are also have gone under in 11 of their last 15 home games. I expect another close game here tonight. I'm taking the points with the Rockets. |
04-29-19 | 76ers +6.5 v. Raptors | Top | 94-89 | Win | 100 | 20 h 58 m | Show |
Game two of this best of seven series has the Raptors leading 1-0 after Saturday's win at Toronto, 108-95. Toronto has now held opponents to fewer than 100 points in five straight games. It's rare for the Sixers offense to be held below the century mark, so don't look for that again here tonight. Philly has covered four of their last five games. In fact, they are 11-3 ATS their last 14 after a straight-up loss of 10 points or more. I do like the bounce back factor here tonight with the dog. I'm taking the points with Philly. |
04-25-19 | Nuggets v. Spurs -2.5 | 103-120 | Win | 100 | 19 h 58 m | Show
The Spurs face elimination here tonight as Denver went up 3-2 in this best of seven series. The Spurs lost at Denver in game five, 90-108. The Spurs hit 41% of their shots compared to Denver's 50% and were out rebounded 47-55. The Nuggets have not done well in the quarterfinals, going just 3-9 ATS their last 12 tries. They are also 4-10 ATS their last 14 on one day of rest. The favorite seems to have the big edge in this series, covering 13 of the last 19 in this series. Spurs a small enough favorite here on Thursday for me to back them. I'm taking San Antonio to tie up this best of seven series here tonight. Play San Antonio. |
04-23-19 | Thunder v. Blazers -4 | Top | 115-118 | Loss | -106 | 10 h 41 m | Show |
Portland can win this series tonight over the Thunder with a win on their home court. The Blazers split their two games in Oklahoma City, taking game four 111-98 and with it a commanding 3-1 series lead. Surprisingly, the Blazers defense has been the standout in this series, holding Oklahoma City to under 100 points in all three of their wins. Portland is now 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games when holding their opponent to less than 100 points in the previous game. They are also 43-21-1 ATS in their last 65 home games. Portland has now covered six of the last eight in this series and I expect them to close out this series tonight. Play Portland. |
04-23-19 | Spurs +5.5 v. Nuggets | 90-108 | Loss | -102 | 9 h 31 m | Show
Denver won a very rare game at San Antonio and it was much needed as the Nuggets evened this series at 2-2 as they return home for tonight's game five. Of course it didn't help the Spurs that DeMar DeRozan was ejected for tossing the ball at the referee. The Nuggets changed their lineup and put their best defenders into the starting role and it worked. But will it work again tonight? I expect the Spurs to make their own adjustments here tonight and also get DeRozan off his frustration pity party he had in game four. The Spurs have already proven they can play well in Denver. I expect a bounce back game here tonight out of the Spurs. Play San Antonio. |
04-21-19 | Raptors v. Magic +5.5 | 107-85 | Loss | -105 | 7 h 7 m | Show
Toronto took a 2 game to 1 lead in this best of seven series with a win on the Magic home court on Friday, 98-93 as a 5.5-point favorite. The Raptors just failed to cover the spread by a half point and now have covered just one of their three playoff games against the Magic. The Magic kept it close in game three but came up just short. The Magic didn't shoot all that well, hitting 36.3% from the field and 29.5% from beyond the arc. What kept them close was free throws, as they had made 22 of 23 compared to just 9 of 10 by the Raptors. We get the same line here in game four and I expect another low scoring, close game. The Magic can regain home court with a win here tonight and I fully expect an all out effort from them to keep from going down 1-3. Play the Magic plus the points. |
04-21-19 | Warriors -9 v. Clippers | 113-105 | Loss | -109 | 4 h 37 m | Show
Golden State looks to take a commanding 3-1 lead today with a win over the Clippers. After the Warriors gave up that huge lead in a game two loss on their home court, they rebounded in game three at the Staple's center in LA, 132-105. The Clippers may have awoken a sleeping giant after that shocking game two come-from-behind win. Golden State his 54.% from the field in game three and 42.9% from beyond the 3-point arc. Compare that to just 37.2% for the Clips and 21.9% from three-point land. There was some question to how the Warriors would play without star forward DeMarcus Cousins, who was lost for the playoffs with a quad injury in game 2. They quieted those critics with that huge game three performance. The Warriors do well on two days rest, going 6-0 ATS their last six times. They are also 28-10 ATS now in their last 38 quarterfinal games. The Clippers are only 4-10 ATS in their last 14 quarterfinal games and 1-6 ATS their last seven overall. In addition, they are 1-9 ATS their last 10 following a double-digit home loss. I look for another big effort today out of the Warriors who want to wrap up this series as quickly as possible. Play Golden State minus the points. |
04-20-19 | Bucks -8.5 v. Pistons | Top | 119-103 | Win | 100 | 20 h 57 m | Show |
The Milwaukee Bucks are showing just why they were the best team in the NBA this regular season with 60 wins. The Bucks have pretty much just rolled right over the Pistons here in this series and would like nothing better than a 4-0 sweep and some down time. The Bucks stingy defense took game one by 35 points (121-86) and then again in game two by a 120-99 margin. Of course it doesn't help that the Pistons have been without one of their best players in F Blake Griffin who missed game two with knee injury. Griffin is doubtful for game three here tonight and that really hurts this Detroit club. The Bucks are now 5-0-1 ATS their last six against the Pistons. I don't see much chance for the Pistons here in game three. Play Milwaukee. |
04-20-19 | Nuggets v. Spurs -3.5 | Top | 117-103 | Loss | -107 | 7 h 36 m | Show |
Spurs look to take a commanding 3-1 lead after tonight's contest at home against Denver. The Spurs won their last game against Denver at home, 118-108 as a 4.5-point favorite. Right now the Spurs are winning the back-court battle as their guard duo of Derrick White and DeMar DeRozan are playing the better ball. DeRozan and White combined for 61 points in game three. The Nuggets have now lost 14 straight games at San Antonio dating back to 2012. The Nuggets will have to find a way to win at San Antonio if they want to advance in these playoffs, something they haven't been able to do in seven years. The games have been close in the 4th, but the Spurs experience seems to be winning the day. Take San Antonio again here on Saturday. |
04-19-19 | Celtics v. Pacers -2.5 | Top | 104-96 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 22 m | Show |
Boston brings a 2-0 lead in this best of seven series back to Indiana for game three tonight. However, they could and really should be tied 1-1. The Pacers had one of the biggest spread collapses I've seen in ages in game two. Up by 1-point with just about 60 seconds to play, the Pacers turned the ball over and fouled their way to a 8-point loss and improbable Boston cover of the 7 or 7.5 points line. It was the most amazing fold I've seen in some time in regards to a spread. That being said, what effect will that have on the Pacers tonight. They are obviously in a must win position as they can't go down 0-3 with any hopes of winning this series. So I expect a full out effort here tonight. But will that game two collapse carry over to tonight? I don't think so. You have to have a short memory in sports and put those games behind you. The Pacers know they can get right back into this series with wins on their home court. It's now or never Indiana. Take the Pacers here in game three. |
04-19-19 | Raptors v. Magic +5.5 | 98-93 | Win | 100 | 7 h 52 m | Show
The Orlando Magic escaped from Toronto with a 1-1 split, which means they currently have home court in this series with the best team in the East. The Magic stole game one in Toronto, 104-101 as a 9.5-point dog. They were then beat soundly in game two, 82-111 as a 10.5-point dog. Tonight, the Magic are 5-point dogs at home. The Magic have been very good at covering lately, going 5-1 ATS their last six games and 11-4 ATS their last 15 games. The Magic look to improve on their game two shooting of just 37% from the field and 26.5% from beyond the 3-point arc. Important game here for the Magic. They don't want to lose home court and so I expect their best effort tonight. I'll take the 5-points with Orlando tonight. Play Orlando. |
04-18-19 | 76ers v. Nets +3 | Top | 131-115 | Loss | -104 | 34 h 33 m | Show |
This best of seven series tied at one game apiece after Philadelphia rebounded for a win in game two. The venue changes to Brooklyn here for game three tonight, the first time a postseason basketball game has been in New York in four years. The Nets allowed Philly to score a NBA record tying 51 third quarter points. Still, Brooklyn got what they wanted, a split in Philly. The Sixers are a 3-point road dog right now in this game three contest. Philly is just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games and 1-4 ATS their last five times with 2 days rest. The Sixers are also 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. Meanwhile, the Nets are 16-5 ATS their last 21 games playing on two-days rest and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 conference quarterfinal contest. Brooklyn has covered four of the last five with Philly and with a packed-house and a raucous crowd expected here tonight, I'm taking the Nets in game three. |
04-17-19 | Pistons v. Bucks -15 | 99-120 | Win | 100 | 5 h 16 m | Show
Milwaukee leads this best of seven series with the Detroit Pistons, 1-0. Game two here tonight from Milwaukee as the Bucks look to take a 2-0 lead back to the Motor City. It was an easy game one for the Bucks, as they beat Detroit in game one 121-86. The Bucks are a favorite to reach the NBA finals this year and look all the part after their blowout win in game one. The Pistons have now lost 11 straight playoff games dating back to 2008. Star player Blake Griffin may not be available tonight for the Pistons, which will make their task to win a playoff game even more daunting. Griffin is day-to-day, though some expect him to miss this series. Either way, with or without Griffin, the Bucks are just too good this year and the Pistons will continue their losing playoff streak. Take the Bucks tonight. |
04-17-19 | Pacers +7.5 v. Celtics | 91-99 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 15 m | Show
The Pacers will look to steal game two here tonight at Boston and go back to Indiana with home court advantage. Game one was a defensive battle as the Celtics took the opener, 84-74 as a 7 1/2-point home favorite. Both teams had a tough night shooting the ball, with Boston hitting 36% and the Pacers 33%. The Pacers held a 45-38 halftime advantage, but couldn't hold it in the second half getting outscored 46-29. This series is always been a low scoring, defensive battle between these clubs. I don't expect anything different here tonight. That always makes playing the favorite difficult when they laying 7.5 points as the Celtics are again tonight. I expect the Pacers to keep this game close and I won't be surprised by an outright Indiana win. Play the PACERS. |
04-16-19 | Thunder +2 v. Blazers | 94-114 | Loss | -108 | 21 h 11 m | Show
Portland leads this best of seven series with the Thunder, 1-0. Oklahoma City was down big in the 1st quarter and much of the first half, but they rallied and almost covered the 3 1/2 point line, losing 99-104. Portland was red hot in the first quarter, but cooled down after that hitting just 42% from the field for the game. The Blazers have not historically done well in these quarterfinal games, going 8-24-2 ATS their last 34 times. This is a rebound game here for the Thunder and I look for a very good effort from OKC here in game two so that they can avoid going down 0-2 in the series. Play Oklahoma City. |
04-16-19 | Spurs v. Nuggets -6.5 | Top | 105-114 | Win | 100 | 20 h 36 m | Show |
Denver in a must win spot here just to salvage a split in the first two games of this series with the Spurs. The first game was low scoring, just as I gave out as the Spurs won 101-96. The Nuggets only hit 42% from the field in game one while giving up 48% of their defensive shots. I won't be going under here because I look for Denver to kick up the pace and not let this game become bogged-down like what happened in game one. Denver had a big regular season and unless they want that dream season to come to an end, they need to take control in this game. Take Denver here in game 2. |
04-14-19 | Jazz +6.5 v. Rockets | Top | 90-122 | Loss | -107 | 10 h 42 m | Show |
It's a matchup of No5 vs No4 here in the Western Conference quarterfinals as the Jazz take on the Rockets. The Rockets finished fourth in the West with a 53-29 record. The Jazz were fifth with a 50-32 record. The Jazz are 6-1 ATS their last seven road games vs a team with a winning home record. They are also 20-5-1 ATS their last 26 games following a straight-up loss. The Jazz are also 10-3 ATS their last 13 road games. The Rockets don't do well on this much rest, going 0-6 ATS their last six times they have had 3 or more days rest. The Jazz are 3-0-1 their last four meetings vs the Rockets in Houston and 3-1 ATS the last four overall. The Dog is also 5-2 the last seven meetings and the road team is 6-1-1 ATS the last eight. I like the road team here today, Play Utah. |
04-14-19 | Pacers +7.5 v. Celtics | 74-84 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 11 m | Show
Pacers and Celtics open their playoff series today from Boston. The Celtics ended up with a 48-34 regular season record and finished 5th in the East. Boston finished with a 49-33 record and finished 4th. These teams are actually quite evenly matched and might be one of the best first round matchups to watch. The Pacers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 conference quarterfinal games. They are also 36-13-2 ATS their last 51 games with 3 days of rest or more. The Celtics have failed to cover in their last eight home games. They are also 0-6 ATS their last six at home against a team with a losing road record. I like the 7-points here today with the Pacers. Play Indiana. |
04-13-19 | Spurs +5.5 v. Nuggets | 101-96 | Win | 100 | 12 h 38 m | Show
The NBA playoffs begin and we have a great matchup here has the San Antonio Spurs take on the Denver Nuggets in round one of the Western Conference. The Nuggets finished second in the West, three games back of Golden State. The Nuggets only won five of their last 10 games. In this matchup tonight I'm looking at the UNDER. The Spurs have been a very good UNDER team. They have gone under in their last nine Western conference games. They are also 2-7 O/U in their last nine overall road games and 5-16 O/U their last 21 overall. The Nuggets have also proven to be a good under team. Denver is 1-6 O/U in their last seven home games and 7-21 O/U their last 28 overall. The last four meetings between these teams have also gone UNDER. This one has all the markings of a good defensive game to me. Play UNDER |
04-10-19 | Pistons -9.5 v. Knicks | 115-89 | Win | 100 | 7 h 31 m | Show
The Detroit Pistons lead the Charlotte Hornets by just one game in the East for the final playoff spot with one game to go tonight. That means a win here and they clinch that 8th spot. Problem is, the Pistons need to play better than their 3-7 mark their last 10 games. Detroit having to lay a lot of points here on the road to the Knicks. Will the Knicks show up for this last game? They have lost three straight and eight of their last nine games. So likely that means no. It really comes down to motivation here and I do believe the Pistons are motivated to get this game. It's theirs for the taking. Play Detroit. |
04-10-19 | Heat v. Nets -5.5 | 94-113 | Win | 100 | 6 h 28 m | Show
The Brooklyn Nets have clinched a playoff spot, however they are tied for 6th place with Orlando right now with both teams 41-40. And, they also lead Detroit by just one game, so there is some positions the Nets can lose. Thing is they can't gain any ground, just lose ground. The Nets have won three straight games and covered five of their last nine. The Miami Heat have been eliminated with a 39-42 mark. Miami made a run at the end, winning four of the last five and seven of the last 10, but came up just a bit short. Brooklyn has too much to lose here tonight and I expect an effort out them to hold this spot. The price isn't too bad either at 5 1/2 on the Nets. Play Brooklyn. |
04-09-19 | Blazers -9.5 v. Lakers | 104-101 | Loss | -103 | 12 h 57 m | Show
With just a couple of games left in the regular season the Portland Trailblazers are sitting in fourth place in the West, 1 1/2 games back of the Rockets and two games ahead of the Jazz. The Blazers could still lose this spot, but highly unlikely at this point. The Blazers have won three straight games and nine of the last 10 games. They have covered two of their last three and three of the last five. Despite adding Lebron James in the offseason, the Lakers won't make the playoffs this year. The Lakers are in 10th place right now and well out of the picture. The Lakers snapped a six-game losing streak both S/U and ATS. The Lakers have no reason to play this game while the Blazers lock up their spot with a win tonight. I'm taking Portland here tonight. |
04-08-19 | Texas Tech +1.5 v. Virginia | Top | 77-85 | Loss | -103 | 44 h 38 m | Show |
It's the NCAA Championship game as Texas Tech takes on Virginia. It might not have been as bad as the Rams vs Saints, but a non-call at the end of the Auburn/Virginia contest likely cost Auburn a place in this game. Virginia, down by three with just seconds to brought the ball upcourt and the player dribbled the ball of his own shin. Stopped, grabbed the ball and clearly double-dribbled. Which should have turned the ball over to Auburn and then a likely foul and game winning free throws. The non-call led to a three-point foul and Virginia his all three foul line shots to win the game by one point. This matchup will be a pure defensive battle. Texas Tech has held four of their last five opponents to 58 or less points. Virginia has held three of their last five to under 56 points. This is an incredibly low total at 117.5, so I won't mess with the total. However, I think Texas Tech is the better team and while the line is Virginia -1, I look for Tech to win the Championship here on Monday. Play Texas Tech. |
04-07-19 | Nuggets v. Blazers -7.5 | 108-115 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 16 m | Show
The number 2 seed in the West, Denver, takes on 4 seed Portland tonight. The Nuggets really are going to stay in this spot. They they trail first place Golden State by two-games and ahead of third place Houston by 1 1/2 games, there are only 3 games left for the Nuggets. Portland, however, is just one game ahead of 5th place Utah and that's a big spot. At 4th place the Blazers host their first series with that 5th place team. So for Portland, this game is big to keep home court in the first round. Both these teams are very good, but motivation plays a factor here tonight. The motivated team has to be Portland and that's who I'm on tonight. Play Portland. |
04-07-19 | Magic +5 v. Celtics | 116-108 | Win | 100 | 8 h 50 m | Show
The NBA East still has some room for teams to move up and down with just a few games left in the regular season. The Orlando Magic are in 7th in the East, tied with 6th place Brooklyn. However, they sit just a half game ahead of Detroit for 8th place and 1 1/2 games out of the playoff picture all together. That makes this game critical for the Magic. The Celtics are in 4th place and pretty much are not going anywhere. So don't be surprised if Boston gives some extra rest to its starters in these last few games. I'm taking Orlando here tonight, they need this game more. |
04-06-19 | Texas Tech +2.5 v. Michigan State | 61-51 | Win | 100 | 79 h 46 m | Show
Final four action here with Texas Tech and Michigan State battling for the right to play in the NCAA Championship game. Texas Tech pulled one of the biggest upsets in the tournament by defeating Gonzaga, 75-69 as a 5-point dog. They also beat Michigan, Buffalo and Northern Kentucky. The Red Raiders have covered four straight games and seven of their last eight. Michigan State not only won the Big 10 tourney championship, but they have won four straight in the NCAA tourney, defeating Bradley, Minnesota, LSU and Duke. They have covered three straight and seven of their last nine games. Spartans laying 2.5-points in this game today. You can make a case for either side here, but I like the dog. I'm taking Texas Tech. |
