12/27 04:35 PM NBA (503) OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER VS (504) MIAMI HEAT. Take: (504) MIAMI HEAT Reason: The Thunder are 19-12 and have won three straight. Russell Westbrook leads the team in scoring with 31.7 ppg. The Thunder are the 9th highest scoring team in the NBA with a 107.0 ppg average. The Thunder won on Christmas day over the T'Wolves, with Westbrook chipping-in 31-points and 15 assists. The Heat really don't have a lot of scoring options on this team other than Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside. The Heat are just 5-11 at home this season, though they have covered six of their last eight overall. Even though OKC has the better offense, the Heat have covered six of the last eight meetings in Miami. I look for the Heat to hang in this contest and get the cover. Play Miami.

Two struggling teams face off today when the Mavericks travel to New Orleans to face the Pelicans. Dallas is 9-21 on the season, though they have won two straight games. The Pelicans are 11-21 and won their last game. Dallas struggles offensively, averaging just 94.1 ppg (3oth). Dallas pulled a pair of road upsets though, beating the Clippers 90-88 and the Blazers, 96-95. The Pelicans are led by Anthony Davis, who averages 29.7 ppg. In their win over the Heat, Davis became just the 4th player this season with at least 25 points and 20 rebounds in a game. The Mavs are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings between these clubs and 6-2 in New Orleans. I look for Dallas to keep this score low and that's the kind of game they can win. Play Dallas.

The Milwaukee Bucks have not been a good road team, posting a 4-11 ATS mark their last 15 away games. Still, the Bucks are 14-14 and in 7th in the NBA East Conference. Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the team in scoring (23.4 ppg), assists (5.8) and field goal percentage (52.5). In addition, the star forward has scored at least 20 points in seven straight games. The Bucks just played the Wizards on Friday night, with Antetokounmpo scoring 39 points en route to a 123-96 drubbings of Washington. The favorite really has had it's way in this matchup, covering nine of the last 10 meetings. In addition, the Wizards have covered four of the last five in Washington. Excellent matchup here in the Diamond Heat Classic final round as 10-2 San Francisco takes on 7-4 San Diego State. The SF Dons have won three straight and six of their last seven games including wins over Utah (as 11.5 point dog) and Illinois State (as 6.5 pt dog). This will be the final contest for San Francisco before they start West Coast Conference play on the 29th. Meanwhile, San Diego State isn't quite as good as previous editions of this team. The Aztecs have won three straight games after losing three. Most shockingly, was the Aztecs loss to Grand Canyon State, 76-72 and Chicago Illinois, 65-59. Long time Head Coach Steve Fisher has only won a single tournament in his career and that was the Rainbow Classic back in 1992 with Michigan. I think this five point line is too high for the Aztecs, which have struggled this year against far inferior teams. I'm taking the points with San Francisco here.

Kawhi Leonard leads the club in scoring with 24.3 ppg. The Bulls have covered just one of their last seven games and are 0-4 ATS in their last four road contests. The Spurs are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games. Even with the Bulls boasting Dwayne Wade on this year's club, Chicago will not fair well against the West's best teams. Take San Antonio.

The Bucks hosted the Bulls on Thursday and walked away with a nifty 108-97 win. The Bucks opened-up a 19-point halftime lead and cruised the rest of the way. Things haven't been as rosey on the road for the Bucks, covering just 3 of their last 13 away games. And, when they have zero days rest they are 0-6 ATS their last six. The Bucks have covered just one of the last eight visits to Chicago and six of the 18 overall. I like the Bulls to give a little payback here on Friday. Play Chicago.

LA is the 6th best scoring team in the NBA with a 109.9 average. The Clippers have played very well on the road, posting a 10-3 record. LA is 13-9-1 this season when installed as the favorite. The Heat enter play today on a two-game win streak. Miami doesn't have the offensive firepower of LA, as they average just 97.3 ppg. 12/06 07:00 PM EST CB (515) SO MISSISSIPPI VS (516) FLORIDA STATE. Take: (516) FLORIDA STATE Reason: Southern Miss is winless on the road and has a tough task here. Turnovers have been a huge issue, with the Golden Eagles averaging 18.3 to rank 344th out of 347 Division I schools, and the Seminoles are the kind of athletic defensive team that can feast on their opponents' miscues. Florida State's defensive intensity has picked up with Minnesota, Illinois and George Washington shooting a combined 29.7 percent, including a 22.7-percent effort by the Colonials in FSU's 67-48 win on Sunday. George Washington shot 20 percent and committed 11 turnovers in the opening half Sunday as the Seminoles jumped to a 35-19 halftime lead. The Seminoles are on a 6-2 ATS run at home, 15-4-1 ATS in their last 20 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game. Play Florida State.

Arizona State is off a pair of easy win against UNLV and Morehead, but they step way up in competition now. Charlotte Hornets off to a 11-9 start to the season, including a nice 5-3 road record. The Hornets blew a big lead in their last game, finally losing in OT to the Timberwolves, 125-120. Kemba Walker leads the club in scoring with a 23.8 ppg average. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks are the worst team in the West, with a 4-15 record. The Mavs have been without their aging star, Dirk Nowitzki, who has been battling a Achilles heal issue. The Mavs are 30th in the NBA in scoring (91.8 ppg) and rebounds (40.6). The road team has covered four of the last five in this series, and I look for that to continue here tonight. Take Charlotte.

Surprisingly, Cleveland has lost three straight games. The Cavs have also failed to cover in their last four road games. Meanwhile, Toronto has been very good to bettors of late, going 13-3-1 ATS in the last 17 games and 8-0 ATS in their last eight vs the East. Toronto is 3rd in the NBA in scoring (110.8 ppg). The Raptors are also coming off a franchise record 44-point win over the Atlanta Hawks last Saturday. The win was the club's fourth straight blowout win in a row. The home club has pretty much dominated this series of late, covering eight of the last 10. I'm sticking with the Raptors here tonight.

Connecticut brings a 3-4 S/U and 0-5 ATS mark into this game with Syracuse from Madison Square Garden. The Huskies have struggled, losing to Wagner by nine and Northeastern by three. The Huskies were ranked 16th in the preseason polls, but that quickly changed with two losses out of the gate. It won't get any easier tonight against ranked Syracuse. The Orange are 5-2 S/U and 1-2 ATS to start the season. Syracuse plays a tough zone defense that has held opponents to just 35.4% from the field this year and 25% from the 3-point arc. The Orangemen have a lot of depth on this club and should easily handle the struggling Huskies here tonight. Play Syracuse.

The Panthers may have benefited from those tough games, as they rebounded with wins over Eastern Kentucky by 17 and Wright State by seven. Mississippi State enters today's contest at 5-2 S/U and 3-2 ATS. The Bulldogs have been very inconsistent, barely getting by Norfolk State, 78-74, and losing to Legigh, 87-73.
