PLAY ON: Cubs +115
I cashed with the Cubs (-115) as my free pick on Saturday and will fire right back with Chicago as a +115 home dog in Sunday's series finale. Cubs will have Javier Assad on the mound for this one. Assad isn't a big name just yet, but has put up elite numbers to this point with a 1.97 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 6 starts. He's been especially good at home, where his ERA is a mere 1.10 in 3 starts. Milwaukee will have a quality starter going in Freddy Peralta, but I like the Cubs offense to do enough to get the win. Give me Chicago +115!

MIKE'S RANGERS/ROYALS MLB FREE PICK
Texas Rangers right-hander Jon Gray (1-1, 2.48 ERA) has allowed just four runs through his last five outings and 28 hits against 35 Ks over 32 2/3 innings of work on the season. In two career starts against the Royals, Gray is 1-1 with an ERA of 1.98.
The Kansas City Royals are expected to hand the ball to left-hander Daniel Lynch who will make his first start of the season after being recalled from Triple-A Omaha. Lynch posted a 4.64 ERA in nine starts in 2023, not impressive, yet his best mark through three seasons in the big leagues.
The Royals are off to a hot 20-14 start, but I think the value is on the Rangers in this matchup.

MLB Free Pick - Baltimore at Cincinnati
Cincinnati sends its ace left-hander Nick Lodolo (3-0, 1.88) to the mound today. Lodolo will be making his fifth start of the season, the second in his career against Baltimore. He allowed one run on four hits in six innings of a no-decision on July 31, 2022. Lodolo started Cincinnati's most recent win, a 5-2 decision over the Padres on Monday in San Diego. He struck out 11 batters while allowing just one run and one hit with two walks over seven innings. In his 30th career game, Lodolo's second-inning strikeout of Eguy Rosario on Monday matched teammate Hunter Greene as the fastest pitcher to reach 200 strikeouts in terms of appearances in modern franchise history. The Orioles will counter with right-hander Dean Kremer (2-2, 4.19), who will make his seventh start of the season and second career start against Cincinnati. In his most recent start, on Tuesday, Kremer allowed two runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts over seven innings in a 4-2 win over the New York Yankees. Kremer's only start against the Reds came on July 30, 2022, in Cincinnati. He took the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits and one walk with three strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings.

Sunday’s FREE WINNER: Los Angeles Dodgers.
Game 906.
1:10 PM PST/4:10 PM EST.
Once again, this season the Dodgers are one of the best teams not just in the National League, but in all of baseball. And let's face it, they have a talented, deep, roster. Whether it be on the mound or at the plate, Los Angeles possesses some of the best numbers in the League. They top the Majors in scoring, team batting average, and OPS, and ranking second overall in home runs. Let's face it, their offense is explosive. They are accounting for over 5.49 runs per game. That would be enough to raise an eyebrow here. However, their pitching staff has been extremely consistent, ranking eight, with a Team ERA of 3.42. Playing in Dodger Stadium and being underdog can’t sit well with the squad. I mean let's face it, they have taken both Games 1 and 2 of this series. Going back a bit further, they have taken three in a row over Atlanta, and six of the last 10 meetings. Speaking of the Braves, they have slipped into second place in the NL East at 20-11. Don't get me wrong guys, this is a very good team. However, they are struggling a bit right now. They've lost two in a row and split out their last 10 overall outings. They certainly seem to be a little better at home than they are on the road. Don't get me wrong, there are teams that would kill to be 9-7 as a guest at this point. Today, they send Max Fried to the hill. The left-hander is 2-0 with a 4.02 ERA overall on the campaign, which does include a very respectable, 1-0 road record, with an ERA of 3.50. Los Angeles will send James Paxton to the bump. The left-hander also boasts some very good numbers, going 3-0 with a 3.51 ERA overall, including a 1-0 mark at home, and a 2.70 ERA. As I mentioned earlier, right now, the Braves seem to be struggling a bit, while the Dodgers are surging. I believe baseball to be one of the streakiest of all the major sports. And riding a streak, good or bad, more often, pays off. One more item, Los Angeles knows there is a good chance, they may be meeting the Atlanta in the postseason. So, getting a big series win over them right now will go a long way. Take the Dodgers. Thank you.

Sunday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Milwaukee and Chicago at 2:20 pm et on Sunday.
This is an extremely low total but it's warranted in my opinion. Freddy Peralta looks like an early N.L. Cy Young Award contender for the Brewers, sporting a 3.18 FIP and 0.86 WHIP through six starts. He's held current Cubs hitters to just 9-of-76 at the plate with five extra-base hits. Note that the Cubs are a middling 15th in the majors in OPS vs. right-handed pitching this season. Javier Assad will counter for Chicago. Current Brewers have just six at-bats against the Cubs right-hander with only one single off the bat of Willy Adames to show for it. Assad has recorded a 3.21 FIP and 1.00 WHIP in 32 innings of work this season. Both bullpens are serviceable, even if they have struggled lately. I do think this is a game where both starting pitchers can work deep into the contest. Take the under.
