Game Analysis

10* FREE NCAAB PICK (Oregon -7.5)

I'll take my chances here with the Ducks cashing in as a 7.5-point favorite at home against the Cougars. I've really been impressed with what I've seen out of Oregon this year. They are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS with their only non-cover coming in a 14-point win over Fresno in the opener as a 15-point favorite. They absolutely destroyed a decent Boise State team 106-75 and had that big win and cover over a really good Memphis team. Houston is decent, but they lost at home to BYU and then struggled to put away Rice last time out, giving up a ridiculous 89 points to the Owls.

I just don't think the Cougars have seen anything like this Ducks team and that's evident by the fact that Houston hasn't had a single shot blocked this year. I not only think it will be a lot harder for them offensively, but if they are giving up 89 to Rice, Oregon is going to light up the scoreboard. Cougars are 1-10 ATS last 11 as a road dog of 6.5 to 12 points under Sampson. Give me Oregon -7.5!

NCAA-B | Cal Poly vs Creighton
Play on: OVER 143½ -105
Game Analysis

Cal Poly has one of the worst defenses in the country as they've allowed teams to shoot 56.7% from two point land. The Mustangs have allowed 77 to Santa Clara, 74 to North Dakota State and 79 to St. Mary's. The offense needs some work although they shoot the three pretty well. Creighton's offense has a lot of potential as they shoot 43.2% from long range. The Blue Jays have scored 82 on La Tech, 81 on Kennesaw State and 69 on Michigan. Their defense could certainly be improved too as they allow teams to shoot nearly 57% from two point range. Cal Poly has gone over in 33 of their last 57 games overall including 26 of 48 as an underdog. I think the home team does a lot of the work, but it goes over.

NCAA-B | Georgetown vs Duke
Play on: Duke -12½ -110 at BMaker
Game Analysis

My free play is on Duke at 7:30 ET. Duke reached the 30-win mark for the 15th time in 39 years under Coach K in 2018-19 but despite being led by three top-10 picks in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Blue Devils  fell short of a national championship, falling to Michigan State in the Elite Eight. PG Tre Jones was the only one of the four, five-star recruits from last season's recruiting class to delay his NBA dream (Zion, RJ and Cam all left) but top-ranked Duke has been sharp through the first five games of the season, moving to 5-0  with an 87-52 win over California 87-52 in Thursday’s semifinals of the 2K Empire Classic. Duke looks to avoid an upset tonight when it takes Georgetown in the championship game at Madison Square Garden. This is Patrick Ewing's third season at Georgetown and after a 15-15 'rookie' year, his Hoyas won 19 games last season but lost in the first round of the NIT. The good news is, FOUR starters are back, although the loss is a big one. Govan averaged 17.5 & 7.5 in making the all-Big East first team. The Hoyas used a 'monster' second half last night, outscoring No.22 Texas 45-24 to win, 82-66. Georgetown, which has played roughly 100 games in "The Garden," enters tonight's contest 4-1. Sophomore guard Mac McClung led the way for the Hoyas with 19 points. McClung (13.6) is one of three starting guards, joined by PG Akinjo (12.6 & 4.8 APG) and Mosley (6.8 & 4.0).7-0 senior Yurtseven (15.6 & 10.8) is Georgetown's best player this season and is joined up front by 6-8 fowards Pickett (9.5 & 5.) and LeBlanc (8.5). Pickett scored a season-best 15 vs the Longhorns. 6 -10 freshman Vernon Carey Jr. broke out with 31 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for Duke last night, giving head coach Mike Krzyzewski a chance to pass UCLA legend John Wooden (217) for the most wins as a No. 1 team when Duke goes after a third 2K Classic championship in four attempts. Carey leads the team in scoring (18.0) and rebounding (9.0), with Jones averaging 15.2 PPG and 6.0 APG. Two more freshman are in double digits, the 6-6 Stanley (12.6 & 4.8) and the 6-9 Hurt (10.4 & 3.8). Look out, another Duke freshman, the 6-6 Wendell Moore, matched his season high with 10 points plus added season bests of seven rebounds and five assists. I was very surprised to see Georgetown beat Texas (after all, the Hoyas lost 81-66 at home to a Penn St team that was just 14-18 last season on Nov 14) but I don't see the Hoyas even 'hanging' with Duke. The Blue Devils have 37 victories all-time at MSG, marking the sixth-highest total for the program at any site. Duke will be going for its 100th victory in an in-season tournament under Coach K, whose teams hold a 99-18 mark in such games. The Blue Devils own 19 titles in in-season tournaments under Krzyzewski's direction and add a 20th here, "with room to spare!" Good luck...Larry
