There will be a lot of players missing for both teams in this game, being that this is the NBA. Lauri Markkanen will be one player who is expected to play. That's huge for Utah. Neither Utah nor Memphis are any good. But the Jazz have been in better defensive form and having Markkanen makes a huge difference. He is Utah's best player and the 10th-highest scorer in the NBA averaging 26.7 ppg. Markkanen has missed games due to illness. The Jazz are 6-0 ATS the past six times he's been in the lineup. Memphis opened the favorite. The Grizzlies are 0-4 ATS, 1-3 SU the past four times they've been chalk. Early money has come on Utah. The Jazz entered the All-Star break winning two of its last three games. Surprisingly, the Jazz have the seventh-best defensive rating during the past two weeks. The Grizzlies are 2-8 in their last 10 games and have lost four in a row. Memphis is surrendering an average of 125.2 points per game during its last seven games. That would rank second to last if computed for the entire season. While Utah will be minus Jaren Jackson Jr., Jusuf Nurkic and Keyonte George, Memphis will be without Ja Morant, Santi Aldama, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Clarke, Cedric Coward, Zach Edey, Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen Jr. (Editor's note: Stephen Nover is 9-3 on his premium NBA plays this month and has a Friday Big Ticket NBA play today in addition to this free selection.)

Covering this large of a point spread isn't easy in the NBA. It is especially difficult when you are rusty and have multiple key injuries. That's the situation the Thunder are in hosting the Nets. The Thunder haven't played in eight days. They will be without stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, along with sixth-man Ajay Mitchell. Oklahoma City is 7-7 in its last 14 games as its injuries have taken a toll. Gilgeous-Alexander has missed the last five games with an abdominal strain. He is the second-leading scorer in the NBA at 31.8 points a game. The Nets got their post-All-Star break rust off getting blown out by the Cavaliers, 112-84, on the road last night. Cleveland played an outstanding game in raising its hot streak to 11-1. The Thunder host the Cavaliers in a nationally televised Sunday game. Oklahoma City cares more about that matchup than hosting the lowly Nets. Brooklyn coach Jordi Fernandez ripped his team after the blowout loss to the Cavaliers. “It was the lack of effort and readiness," he was quoted as saying. "I’m not going to let it fly. ... Once again, we know we’re better. Our standards are higher than this and now we’ve got to move onto the next one. We’ve got to hold everybody accountable, myself included, and then go and fight better.” I'm expecting a much better effort from the Nets. The timing is right for them to make this a close game against a wounded powerhouse that is rusty and also in a look-ahead spot.

Game Analysis

The Bulls have their star guard Josh Giddey back healthy. They also are home catching double-digits against a shorthanded opponent. That makes Chicago dangerous here.

Chicago has a winning home record. The Pistons won't have suspended center Isaiah Stewart. Detroit also is in a vulnerable situational spot.

The Pistons are off a highly-satisfying, 126-111, road win against the Knicks this past Thursday. Detroit was an underdog in that game. Following this road matchup against the Bulls, the Pistons return home for their first home game since Feb. 6. Detroit will have a three-game homestand and it will come against the Spurs, defending champion Thunder and Cavaliers. The Pistons can't be faulted if they get caught looking ahead to those three challenging, marquee home games.

The Bulls are 18-14 ATS as an underdog while the Pistons are 8-11 ATS as road chalk.

Game Analysis

East Carolina and Charlotte rank among the five lowest scoring teams in the American Athletic Conference.

East Carolina is particularly brutal on the offensive end ranking 315th in scoring, 332nd in field goal percentage and 365th in 3-point shooting.

Charlotte is no offensive prize either. The 49ers don't have a player who averages more than 12 points a game. They play very slow and don't take care of the ball, ranking 286th in turnovers per possession.

There were 143 combined points when the teams met on Jan. 18. Charlotte won, 73-70, as a short road 'dog. The 49ers do not figure to be as hot as they were in that game when they made 54.2 percent of their shots from the floor, hit 10 of 21 3-pointers and were 84.6 percent from the foul line.
